Primary Elections

It's hard to believe that the primary elections are already this Tuesday, it's coming up very fast. I think the most important thing that we should do besides voting this Tuesday is to be an informed voter. Especially in a primary election you should really look at the candidate in a very careful manner and decide if this individual represents your beliefs and the beliefs of the party that he or she is seeking to represent on the ballot in November. I wish all the candidate running Tuesday the best of luck.

City Judge --- James P. Gilpatric and J. Micheal Bruhn Jr., face off for the Independence and Conservative lines.
Prediction : Gilpatric takes both lines in a close but decisive vote.
Ind = 35 Con = 18

Alderman-at-Large-- James Noble and Lenny Walker face off for the Democratic line.
Prediction : James Noble will win in a landslide.
Vote Total= 900

Ward 3---- Patrick Carroll and Charles Landi are asking Independence voters to go and write their names in for an opportunity to ballot election.
Prediction : Too close to call; Carroll seems to have a lot of signs out.
Vote total with both candidates = 8

Ward 4---- Shirley Whitlock is being challenged by Matt Ryan for the Democratic line. GOP line also up for grabs.
Prediction : Whitlock wins a close vote.
Vote total both candidates = 90

Ward5---- Anne Marie DiBella faces off against Jean Jacobs for the Independence line in an opportunity to ballot.
Prediction: Smart money says DiBella pulls this one out.
Vote total both candiates = 3

Ward 8----- Robert Senor faces off against GOP scapegoat Todd Langdon for the Republican and Conservative lines.
Prediction: Senor will easily win both lines and reelection on Tuesday.
vote total GOP = 105 Conservative 15

Ulster County Legislature District 7 ----Alan Lomita, Sal Silvestro, and Phil Terpening are facing off against Roscoe Pecora for the Democrat line, voters can choose any three.
Prediction : Lomita, Terpening and Silvestro hold on to their lines, in that order.

You want DiBella to resign now your supporting her?

Jeremy Blaber said...

TO 1140 I may put up an over under on the races for fun, not for the purposes of illegal gambling.

1144: I asked Mrs.DiBella to resign as a committeewoman, she is in my opinion a fine Alderman..there is a difference.

Hold on here, Gilpatric is looking for the conservative line? I'm really confused. I thought the word here was, you can't be a democrat and a conservative. Wasn't that said about Bradley?

Anonymous said...

Bradley tried to be a Democrat three times and was rejected each time. He is not a Democrat. End of story.

Anonymous said...

Bradley is the Ralph Nader of Ulster County.

Pecora wins. Silvestri is out.

Vote J. Michael Bruhn, Jr., Kingston City Court Judge. All lines. It is time for change.

Silvestri and Pecora win Terpening is out.

To anonymous 12:12---I agree, Many Democrats are crying Bradley can't be both one of them and a conservative but they are vigorously supporting Gilpatric's bid to win conservative support. Be leary of a group who changes their values & philosophy to accommodate their present situations!!!

Interesting that you made no prediction for Alderman at Large

Anonymous said...

Blaber has a Noble sign outside of his house who do you think he's supporting? The kid may be supporting Sennett but he's also stomping for Noble and the Jimster

Anonymous said...

Bruhn's a nice guy but has no buisness running for Judge. I'm voting for Jimmy Gilpatric!

Anonymous said...

I don't agree with your predictions but it's a good message Blab.

Anonymous said...

Any person that is refered to as the Jimster is a party animal not a mayor.

Anonymous said...

To 1:35: Why not? He's qualified. JG saying he didn't get the papers? Come on. The panel sent out the papers to all Judicial candidates throughout the state, and Jimmy is the only one not to get them. Please, we're not idiots! Plus, if he didn't get them, he should have been smart enough to call somebody and let them know. Jimmy is the one who has no business running. He should bow out gracefully.

"Rock the vote?"

Mr. Blaber, you are dating yourself. Political life is an enterprize best and most effectively entered into by adults, and NOT by adolescents or adult adolescents who take their inspiration from mtv, vh1 and the like!

As for the kernel of your message, yes; do become involved in the political process!

12:12 am and 11:42 am...

You are confusing two separate groups of Democrats.

The intelligent ones who are opposed to Bradley are progressive, and firmly believe that Democrats have no business going after the conservative line because the conservative party is diametrically opposed to the most fundamental Democratic ideals.

The opportunistic ones who support Bradley are conservocrats who think it's fine to compromise values just to get a line.

Trying to paint those two groups with the same brush is just another Rovian tactic employed by the so-called "moderate" Dems.

(ie: DiBella and Provenzano)

1:43,

Yes. Reminiscent of "Bill" playing the sax on tv and insisting that he never inhaled.

I'll be voting Democrat all the way with the exception of Kingston City Judge. After researching both candidates thoroughly I strongly feel that, even though he's a Republican, J. Michael Bruhn, Jr. is the best choice for Kingston and the County.

Word has it Clint Brown may jump BACK in the race for Ward 4 as a write in

Anonymous said...

MAY ALL THE JIM'S WIN ON THE 18TH. DON'T FORGET TO VOTE!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

Its a slap in the face, that Senor, a new found Dem, is primarying on the GOP line.

When you leave, you leave. Bye Bob!

re: 12:33...

maybe Blab's a closest Walker supporter....like Parrete is a closest Bradley supporter.

Anonymous said...

Gilpatric's a nice guy but he has no business seeking the conservative endorsement. I'm voting for Mike Bruhn!

Anonymous said...

Lenny over Noble, please think about that? if Lenny wins kingston is going to be a joke after all. vote Noble Lenny LEFT the DEMS!!!!!!

The difference between Bradley running on the Con line and Gilpatric seeking that line is that Bradley tried hard to convince the Dem Committee that he was a true-blue Democrat even though he's had 29 years to be one. But a true-blue any party-person wouldn't continue to run on a minor party line to be a spoiler. If he was a party-loyalist, he would've dropped out of the race and thrown his support behind the Committee's endorsee (as Julian Schreibman did). Instead, by running solely on the Conservative and Independence lines, he's showing his true colors - Bradley's in it for himself and really doesn't care about any political party. He would rather Holley Carnright win than Jon Sennett - if he was a loyal Democrat, he wouldn't want that at all. And, read what he told Hugh Reynolds: he'll be a prosecutor somewhere else. His heart isn't in Ulster County or with Democrats - he's the most selfish politician there is.

I saw Roscoe on Channel 23. He was very articulate and would be an excellent choice for Legislature.

Buddy J. in Port Ewen

No!! The Dems left Lenny. Big difference.

Anonymous said...

I don't know 5:02. I could go back to one of Jeremy's topics, and find him stating something to the effect that Bradley does not deserve the democratic line, because the conservative platform does not meet his definition of a good democrat.

Besides, when you say, "he is in it for himself, and does not care about any political party". You think a candidate BEHOLDEN to a party is more qualified than an INDEPENDENTLY thinking person?

Anonymous said...

Roscoe Pecora is an idiot - Parete put him up because he doesn't like the other 3. Pecora used to be a Republican but he left the party because he didn't like their anti-gay stance. But, if you know Pecora, he's very conservative and not very bright - he would be a terrible legislator. I hope he gets his ass kicked today.

Anonymous said...

Pecora is just the same old repugnicant BS in a new shell. Because they kicked him out 10 years ago, he decided he was a Democrat. Since then he has done nothing to uphold true Democratic values. He thwarts every attempt by Democrats to open up the process in the town of Esopus, and routinely backs closed-minded and closed-doors republicans.

Actually, other than push for the Human Rights department 15 years ago, what has he ever done except denigrate others. See his recent mailing with the ruthless lies and innuendoes about Sal Silvestro to get a true read on the "character" and articulateness of Pecora.

Thank goodness he will be so overwhelmingly rejected in Rosendale that he won't be able to make up enough votes in his hometown to overcome the deficit. (Frankly, I hear he's not so popular in Esopus either.)

I saw Roscoe on SNAP< KACKLE & PLOP (FOAMINSANE-O LIVE) I thought he was the Attorney General Nominee. Don't you have to be a national, international, or global figure to be on that show with the Half Bakers 1/4 dozen.......

9:49: Being beholden (or not)has no bearing on one's qualifications. One of the najor reasons why the Dems rejected Bradley (in addition to the residency and enrollment issues) is that he is not qualified. Just because Bradley worked in Morgenthau's office doesn't mean he can be an effective prosecutor everywhere. He only prosecuted white-collar crimes - he never prosecuted street crimes or crimes where there was a victim. So, when Bradley moved to UC, he could've chosen to be in either party - Dem or Rep. But, he shouldn't have enrolled in any party - he has shown that he just did it so that he could get the nomination, not because he believed in the Dems' ideologies and principles. Since he did enroll, however, he should have been more loyal to the party in which he chose to belong. He just used the Dems for a vehicle to get where he wanted, and since it didn't take him where he wanted to go, he basically ditched it.
