U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer Endorses Sennett for D.A.

Senator Chuck Schumer, New York's Senior Senator, today endorsed Jonathan Sennett for Ulster County District Attorney.

SENNETT PICKS UP BIG ENDORSEMENT

"Jonathan Sennett is a tenacious and proactive prosecutor who will be a first-rate District Attorney for the citizens of Ulster County and its law enforcement professionals, said Senator Schumer. He understands that to fight crime effectively, you must attack its root causes. As an assistant district attorney in the Bronx for five years, Sennett learned that tough prosecution must go hand-in-hand with prevention efforts. I have complete faith that he will develop effective strategies for the law enforcement issues facing a changing Ulster County", said Schumer.

During his 20 years in Congress, Senator Schumer was the leading sponsor ofthe Crime Bill that added tens of thousands of cops to communities across America. Schumer sits on the Senate Judiciary Committee and is a member ofthe Administrative Oversight and Courts Committee.

Sennett is committed to maintaining and improving the quality of life that makes Ulster County a great place to live, work and raise a family, continued Schumer. Make no mistake about it, serious crime requires serious prosecution. And Jonathan Sennett knows we must be both tough and smart when it comes to crime -- balancing prevention with first-rate law enforcement and prosecution

The senior senator from New York made a wise decision in endorsing Jonathan Sennett for Ulster District Attorney.

In my book, Schumer is a very hard worker who understands the need for tough prosecution and finding cost-effective ways of reducing crime.

What's the news here? A Democratic senator endorsed a Democratic DA candidate. You'd have a story if the Democrat endorsed somebody else.

I thought of voting for Sennett, but if you support him, I won't......... after all, you are a Sottile supporter

Is Hillary going to endorse Vince?

That's a very good endorsement that Mr. Sennett received.

I wonder though if the senator consulted with Bart Robins and Troy Ashdown the local leaders of the UCAW.

Anyway, good for Jon!!

Hillary endorse Vince..ha! She's too smart of a woman for that. Hillary is a true blue Dem and if she gets involved in this race you can bet she will support Sennett.

A U.S. Senator going out on a limb for a D.A. candidate.... Sennett must be the real deal.

The news is that Sennett is gaining momentum and will win this race. Enough wasted time and breath on a candidate who begged to be let in and then switched to become a conservative. Will he also switch from guilty to innocent if any of his supporters end up in cuffs?

Agreed,it is pretty remarkable. I imagine it is the first time that a US Senator endorsed a candidate for Ulster County DA.

And you're right about Hillary, she isn't going to endorse a non-democratic candidate whose party enrollment depends on who will give him a line in an election.

This is the final nail in Bradley's coffin.

I HAVE A NEW FOUND RESPECT FOR OUR SENATOR FROM NY!

Bradley can get to work as Judge Cahill's law clerk.....

Ha ha, that's real funny. You obviously have not been paying close attention.

To 4:45 - If you're not voting for Sennett because Jeremy is a Sottile supporter, and Sottile is a Bradley supporter, it's a safe bet that you're voting for Carnright. Your reasons for not voting for Sennett are shallow - Sennett is by far the most qualified candidate. Don't let Jeremy's poor judgment in his support for Sottile cloud your judgment in your vote for DA. Do what's best for the county - vote for Sennett. Bradley doesn't have the experience necessary to be the DA, and anyone who has more than half a brain knows that.

Hey Jeremy, you scooped the Freeman. Evidently they didn't think an endorsement by our senior New York State Senator was newsworthy.

Well they did announce our legislator's free ice cream "meet and greet", that's something.

Last week that fool gossip columnist hedda, I mean Hugh, Reynolds wrote about junior being in a fender-bender. The week before, Hedda /Hugh wrote about the backbreaking endeavor junior took on when he started teaching 2 hours a week at UCC (junior's been out of work for over 10 months!!) The gossip rag that is the Freeman loves junior, they are bought and paid for by junior, and they never write about Sennet...unless they are insulting him. I GUARENTEE THE FREEMAN WILL NEVER COVER ANY POSITIVE STORIES ABOUT SENNET - including his endorsement by the senior US Senator from NY BECAUSE THEY ARE PART OF KINGSTON'S JUNIOR-MACHINE -- I GUARANTEE THE FREEMAN WILL ALSO FORMALLY ENDORSE JUNIOR BEFORE ELECTION DAY... anyone wanna take me up on a bet?
Watch and weep, these guys are junior-boys all the way. Who cares? Sennet will still win!!
Row A all the way!!

Hey Mike, you mean every time a Democrat endorses a Democrat, a newspaper or the radio is supposed to have a story about it? Same with when a Republican supports a Republican? Now, if Sottile endorsed Sennett, that would be a good story, especially after what happened at Mariner's, remember?

Benedict Arnold has endorsed Vince Bradley ;)

Oh, I almost forgot, Bradley was also endorsed by Julius and Ethel Rosenberg. Duck+Cover! ;)

It's about time state Democratic leaders did something to help our Democrat in this DA race.

Everyone's afraid to intercede in this fiasco the County Chair created by pushing Bradley down our throats.

I mean, what a dim-witted candidate! Bradley is just not that bright and Parete's sons are still rallying in support (also not too bright). It's disgusting.

I hope there are more high-ranking endorsements for Jon Sennett to come.

2:14 is right on the money. The Freeman is bought and paid for by old, corrupt Bradleyites.

Anonymous said...

What could the Freeman possibly say in endorsing him?

A vote for Bradley is a vote for Kingston?

Anyone??

Anonymous said...

A vote for Bradley is a vote to keep the good ol' boys power unchecked. They are afraid. Very afraid. Party affiliation is irrelevant here, and the DA's race is proof enough.

Jon has a good chance of winning. Democrats have to stick together on this one.

Well Jeremy, I see again that your not reading what you post. Unless, of course, you feel the posts from "Demonopoly" are intelligent. But then that would earmark you as an A-hole. So you must not have read them.

Only one candidate has ever prosecuted a case in Ulster County.. Holley Carnright... far and away the best candidate.

Anonymous said...

What difference does it make where a case is prosecuted? It's the cases themselves that are important - both Carnright and Sennett have prosecuted violent crimes. Bratley only prosecuted white-collar crimes, and he wasn't very good at it, either. Ask Guy Vellela (sp?) - on a 25-count indictment, Bradley could only get him to plead guilty to one count of a Class E Felony. And, he didn't even negotiate his pension - Guy is still collecting his $80,000/year pension. Bratley sucks as a prosecutor - Sottile is a fool for backing him. He can't do shit for midtown, and Sottile knows it.

And of the few cases that Bradley "prosecuted," he was always part of a "team" and never the "team" leader. He spent nine years in a division where ADA's typically spend a year or two then go on to bigger and better things. That division is known for it's inexperienced beginners. Only the division heads are the experienced prosecutors in that unit. So basically, Bradley was never able to get out of the basement at the Manhattan DA's office. What a schlub.

Carnright was an ADA 25 years ago...back when CB radios were cool communication tools. What does Holley know about DNA?

By the way, Bradley was on a cable TV show where the CONSERVATIVE candidate was asked twice about his stance on PRO CHOICE. Guess what conservatives...Bradley is pro choice when your platform is pro life. Nothing like a little problem with integrity.

I have pending business in Hill's office, however,I will make mention of the endorsement issue soon. Funny, the editor of the freeman used the exact same words as one of these posters. Does he come here to read real news? I think it's time for a new staff and or owner at that rag. Right-wing rags always perpetuate slums in cities. Who'd want to move to a place where their main newspaper has such low journalistic integrity! Maybe George Soros will take an interest in our area if we keep pushing the ugly red americans out.

People on the outside of politics (the taxpayers) think of our elected officials as our voices to make life safer, better and more efficient.

Unfortunately, people on the inside (politicians) see their role as to perpetuate their powerbase and get reelected at any cost. This makes odd bedfellows sometimes.

There are Democratic leaders in this county who are cheating on their party for not publicly and powerfully supporting the choice of the party for DA.

They are going against the will of the committee. By being disloyal to the party choice they are eroding the foundation of the party all in the name of perpetuating their own power base.

Jonathan Sennett has received the party nomination and a major endorsement from Senator Schumer.

Party leaders need to show loyalty to core Democratic values and give more then lip service to Sennett.

He has run a race with integrity and professionalism. Consider this his extended job interview, which he has passed with flying colors.

Parete, Cahill and Hinchey need to dump (get out of bed with) the conservative candidate in the name of Democracy and help elect the best candidate for the job...Jonathan Sennett.

Actually, their support has been minimal to date and Sennett can and will win without them. The people of Ulster County will not be left out of the Democratic process despite what the machine has convinced people is best for the county.

Kingston no longer runs the county. Sorry to break the news to Frank and Jeannette.

On Wednesday November 7 Democratic "leaders" and Sottile will wake up and realize they have a bad case of electoral disfunction as their beloved conservative candidate has lost the election.

We have wasted an enormous amount of energy fighting a battle over a lackluster candidate.

Imagine if Democrats rallied together and put as much energy into finding solutions to drugs, guns, gangs and violence in Ulster County. We would really have something to be proud of instead of a sad specticle shown over the summer.

Vote row A all the way.

Spoken like a true mushroom. If that's how you decide your vote, then you deserve whatever you get.

Is Stuart Fraser a retard? I went to the website prominently posted on the 3'x 3' sign in front of my estate to register my displeasure about some of my local democrats putting up Bradley signs, and his response was "and who sir are you". This is a response typical of an elementary school student! What gall! Does a child work in the Kingston office? No wonder this county party is such a mess! This character wants volunteers to work at a phone bank? That's some kind of way to treat the spine of the party. If it wasn't for the work of aggressive progressives like myself, the democrats in UC would still be irrelevant! As far as I'm concerned,he's fired!

Like any thinking person would actually care who Chuck Schumer endorses? What a moron!

Anonymous said...

schumer has courage and conviction and foresight to endorse our next DA.

as for Jr...lie down with dogs get up with flees.

Anonymous said...

Any thinking person would not vote for Bradley. I can't imagine a crook looking at him thinking that he is tough on crime.

Anonymous said...

EXACTLY 10:30, being soft on crime will be why much of Kingston will vote for Bradley, the candidate for District Attorney. (if you get my drift)

Anonymous said...

to 10:30 and 7:42 - You're both smarter than Sottile, DiBella and everyone else who's supporting Bradley. If you're talking about white-collar crime, then yes, Bradley will be soft on crime - that's why the elected officials are pushing for him so they can continue their life-style to which they've become accustomed (sp?). Street crime? Bradley has no experience - those perps will walk too. His ADAs will be looking to him for advice and he'll have no idea how to proceed. It'll be a cake walk for the defense attorneys. Sottile wants everyone to think that Bradley will clean up Kingston - Bradley couldn't sift through forensic evidence because he's never even seen any.
