Guess Nicky and all of his cronies can start to look for new jobs. Too bad Nicky.

Congrats to Quigley, Morrow,Hendrick & Kesick, they ran a good clean campaign, stuck to the issues and showed what hard work means, now the real work begins, cleaning up the mess that nick caused over the last 4 years.
Let's just hope he's man enough not to do any further damage as a lame duck or he'll be a lame brain and his political, career will really be over.
Good Luck Guys, it's been a pleasure working for you all.
PS

2005 budget 20% tax increase
2006 budget 39% tax increase
40% over budget on the jail
2 years late. No investigation by the then DA Don Williams.

That is the last Republican County Legislature.

There is no question that the voters have serious issues with Democrats in the state, region, county and at the local level. It is time to reevaluate where we are, what we stand for and who is leading us. Some very good people who really should not have lost, were taken out last night through no fault of their own, and that is a shame.

Anonymous said...

I wonder who gets indicted first?

Anonymous said...

Bob Senor is a joke and should have never won, Todd Langon clearly desereved the win! I guess it's not always true what they say, the "best man" wins.

Anonymous said...

Boy, Jingles Woerner got the shit kicked outta his lard ass by Mr. Quigley!!! Whats Nicky Boy gonna do now, try and run for Dem. Chair of Ulster County? He will get his ass kicked again if he trys it ,folks....

Anonymous said...

3:03, agreed. But, these are a different crop of Republicans. It will be interesting whom they elect as Chairman. Also remember, we now have Democrats as oversight/sharing in power with Hein and Aeurbach. Cal Cunningham must be up in heaven smiling down on us. ;)

It will be interesting if this legislative body, which is only slightly GOP in nature, will come to a consensus and attempt to somehow overturn the wisdom of the charter revisionists by preserving their jobs. Republican or democrat...in 2 years..30% of them will see a pink slip. I just have a gut..a..Phil Terpening-Jim Thompsan gut..feeling that there will be an attempt to keep 33 seats on the 6th floor come 2011. We'll see what happens!

3:03 - thanks for the depressing reminder. The voters of Ulster County have a short memory. The republicans inflated the salaries of county employees, hired their friends and families, and gave us enormous tax increases - and that's without the debt service of the jail that they totally mismanaged from the get-go. Mike Hein and the Democrats kept tax increases to a minimum, and the voters didn't like that. Let's see what the GOP does - they fucked up this county for the past 30 years; they didn't deserve this second chance.

Anonymous said...

Nick gets his ass kicked and now wants to head the Democratic Committee! What a joke.

Anonymous said...

Can you say "Sorry Nina"?

Anonymous said...

Woerner is scum. He personally cost the Town of Ulster one of the best Legislators they ever had in Brian Cahill. Never saw anyone work as hard as he did for this election. It's a goddamn shame. Thanks Nick, now go back to Kingston where you came from and take that little fuck Zweben, and your asshole cousin Aaron with you. Good riddance!

Anonymous said...

maybe he could get a fucking job like the rest of us.

Anonymous said...

How the fuck can anyone take Nick Woerner serious?? He is a fucking Pugsley Adams look alike for Cristsake! Time for Nicky boy to go to work, maybe he can give out cheese puffs up at Sams club or something. LOL

Anonymous said...

In the town races Gaddy got robbed
He worked his butt off helping
the Republicans all over the damn county and they dumped him in his own town while he was doing it. It
was lousy to do but a few jerks
got the rest to go along so he lost after 4 terms. he deserved better.

Anonymous said...

Blabes you must be all pissy today after all your boys and the dems got stomped...

Anonymous said...

Ed Gaddy is a good man. He reminds me of Morrie from "Goodfellas". He never shuts the F* up, but anyway, he's a good guy.

Anonymous said...

Hey what about Kingston and how little dick got CRUSHED again. What a loser. Give us your take on that blabes.

Anonymous said...

Cahill got his just desserts, with his big brother interfering with the Kingston Alderman race. What comes around, goes around.

Anonymous said...

From the poastmaster..

People are dumb, though. Sure, getting rid of Nicky was the proper move, but it appears that the overtaxed angry electorate really screwed up by line voting-in anything republican. Moron and Hendrix? Bad for Ulster. And then voting in both a senile old man and a double dipping con artist on the legislature? Oye Vay!

Oh well, at least Nicky's toast, and Thug-Hugger Schneer's days of freeing murderers are numbered.

All is not lost!

c. MMIX Poastmaster General. No portion of this beautiful poast may be reproduced without written consent from the law office of Andrew Zweben. You will be billed $45 per letter from the Zweben Law Practice, which is a bargain compared to what Ulsterites have been paying.

sorry 10:28, I'm in Kingston - we don't want the scum Woerner, little fuck Zweben or asshole Aaron. You keep'em; they're yours, no tag-backs.

Nick Woerner, not Kevin Cahill cost Brian the election. Cahill was caught up in the tidal wave of anti Woerner voters.

So when do the democrats look at Julian's role in the disaster that occured on election day?

He did nothing to secure electable candidates, he did nothing to get the candidates elected once they were nominated and he did not foresee what the rank and file of his party knew was coming. And that doesn't even address his pathetic approach to running the convention.

So this is leadership?

Amazing how quickly he can undo years of progress that was made under his predecessor.

Parete got candidates elected with enrollment numbers against him. Under Schreibman, the party lost the two significnat county races and lost the majority in the legislature with a significant enrollment advantage.

And lets not buy the anti Obama, anti incumbant excuse. The blame lies with the "leadership". Its time for the "leadership" to acknowledge its own role.

Anonymous said...

Groppuso..Woerner... I think Ulster is done electing democrats for a long time.

Cal the uber-Conservative

Anonymous said...

9:51, Higher level politicians writing letters of support or publicly endorsing a candidate is not sticking their nose in an election. They all do it. Just because it was the Dick's though..... Big & little Dick Cahill lied and they got called out on it. Good.

You make no sense in your analogy about what goes around. What does that mean? Kevin's letter of support has some correlation to Brian losing? I don't think so.

Anonymous said...

9:53,

Julian has failed. Bring back John Parete, or Brian Cahill, as his recent unseatment is totally uincalled for and we should not waste his talents.

How many of you Democrats out there voted for Williams, or Quigley, or Postupack?

Demmy Demmson the sad Democrat

Anonymous said...

Now Nicky does not want to partake in a smooth transition. He really has to go and grow up.

Anonymous said...

One vote for Brian Cahill for Chairman!

Anonymous said...

I would not blame Brian Cahill one bit if he packed up and moved to Kingston or another town. I don't have much of a problem with the results of this election with the exception of Cahill losing. Woerner and Schreibman carry this one around with them for awhile.

A few major mistakes changed the entire landscape of the election. The debacle of a convention lead by numskull Shcriebman. Think John Parete would have fucked that up? Not on your life! Then he decided to listen to the lunatic fringe of the Democratic party and wake a sleeping dog by running a very weak candidate against Nina. We know he was advised against that, but he did it anyway. Then in the face of certain defeat, he did absolutely nothing to try and salvage the legislature, especially in Cahill's district (Where Nina and her entire family live) and Saugerties where the opportunity for 2 seats was ripe for the picking. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE knew Woerner was going to get his head handed to him, what did Schriebman do to help Cahill or Saugerties?

Cahill told anyone who would listen that there was a problem in Ulster. Saugerties was a cluster fuck lead by the lunatics with all the words and no action.

Pathetic showing of leadership by Shcriebman. Who's next, Mike Hein, Elliot Auerbach or Kevin Cahill? I don't think the Democrats should sit still to find out.

But that is just my opinion.

Anonymous said...

Why is Mike Gill such an angry loser?

Anonymous said...

11:49 Gill is the new Cosme. Another angry loser! Anyone see him last night at city hall? WOW!

Anonymous said...

10:58 - you're right on most counts, but if you read earlier bloggings (from several months ago) Julian was criticized for not putting up a candidate against Nina. He was damned if he did, damned if he didn't. Gilda wasn't a weak candidate - she was a great candidate - her support was weak. Julian convinced her to run and then did nothing for her (or anyone else, obviously).

Anonymous said...

How is Wanna Be "Don" Woerner gonna make his payment on that fancy black Lincoln he drives around in? Or did the Town of Ulster pay for that?

Anonymous said...

When is Woerner going to take out the town's property that he has installed in his car? lights, radio, bumper grills, etc.

Will he trade in his "Ulster" plates for "Loser"?

Anonymous said...

Nick has no payments on that Lincoln - he paid Begnal's in cash - in full - on a $45K salary. I heard that NYS Dept. of Taxation and Finance and the IRS are conducting an investigation. They're also looking into the $10K that he paid for the anti-Quigley ad for Comptroller from his "Friends of NW" account but didn't say that on the ad.

Anonymous said...

Gill lost by less than 50 votes...Ward 7 is ripe for a republican takeover whenever Bill Reynolds steps down or moves on.
Having the popular Reynolds squeak by is testimony to his strength of a candidate, running in a ward that is trending republican.

Gill is no Cosme, he has a chance to win in years to come. Phil da Felon is un-electable, period.

Interesting to see who the largest city-wide Alderman vote getter was..none other than the older than dirt crankmaster himself. Good for you, sir! Of course it always helps to run un-opposed!

A good candidate garners good support and a helluva lot more votes than Gilda got. She was a weak candidate with a weak county party driving the train. She was doomed for failure from the begining. The Democrats would have salvaged a couple of seats on the legislature without Nina running.

Anonymous said...

Gilda treated campaign stops like fashion shows. She was not good in a crowd and did not have the presence of a person who was trying to win the hearts and minds of voters. It was more like she was gracing everyone with her presence. She was a good candidate on paper, but a lousy candidate in the flesh.

Julian is a douche bag and way too much of a pussy to be chairman of the party. He has to go.

Anonymous said...

10:58AM. Plain and simple Woerner caused the loss of at least two seats in the legislature Brian and one from Saugerties. What was Schriebman suppose to do? Put out a contract on Woerner.

Also, what a statement of weakness. We shouldn't put up a candidate against Postupack because the legislators are scared to death of running against Republicans.Democrats are the majority party but they run scared. You'd never see the Republicans give Democrats a free ride. John Parete did have one success. He brokered a deal that insured his sons would never lose.

Anonymous said...

@10:58

Brian Cahill is a nasty individual who doesn't know how to play nice with others. His brother has done nothing for the people of this county. They both run their mouths and need to be sent packing home and kicked out of politics for good.

Anonymous said...

Gilda first throws her hat in for Family Court, and she gets rolled over by four more qualified better campaigners before she puts her tail between her legs and drops out. She then runs for legislature in her own town, in a democratic year, with a democratic enrollment advantage, and she loses that too. She then takes a job as a law clerk, she works that job for two years and she decides that she wants to run for county court where she has never stepped foot. Her lack of qualification is apparent from the day she announces for county court, she is the only candidate deemed unqualified by the review committee, so she drops out of that race and decides that she will run for County Clerk when she knows nothing at all about the office and has absolutely no relevant experience. She does nothing productive in her campaign and floats into campaign stops, waves to the crowd, smiles and says nothing of substance or import. She predictably gets trounced at the polls and goes back to her job in family court where she continues to draw her salary to do a job that she couldn't try to leave quickly enough. Now, lets all watch as she tries to run for whatever position comes up next that has a nice salary and a fancy title.

Hopefully, the party is not fooled next time, and rest assured, there will be a next time, and a next time, until we all tell her to go away.

Anonymous said...

Don't be so hard on Gilda - Gilda was talked into running for county clerk by Bernardo and Schreibman with promises of help. Then they left her twisting in the wind.

Anonymous said...

Diggler, Gill got only 40 more votes than Sinagra did 4 years ago. The race was closer than usual because the Democrats stayed home and no one likes Sottile. As far as Gill being the new Cosme, if you saw his meltown at the budget hearing the other night you would change your tune. He's a whack job.

Ulster is Your Town Too said...

Woerner Won't Go Quietly Into That Good Night!
Just a few minutes into Thursdays Town Board Meeting was all one needed to see this is going to be a rough transition for Supervisor Elect Jim Quigley. Nick Woerner is already attempting to 'have it his way', behind closed doors, like most of his tenure as Supervisor. Fortunately Mr. Quigley intends on living up to his campaign promise of 'Transparency' and quickly put Mr. Woerner in his place.
Woerner's decision to have Councilman Joel Brink assist in the transition can only make the process more complicated than instructions for a backyard 'Jungle Gym' as Joel knows little of what's what, where it is and what it's for! Apparently Nick is reinforcing the voter's decision to replace him by acting as pompous and detached from the needs of the town as he was while in office.
Furthermore, Mr. Woerne's inviting former Town Attorney Andy Zweben to assist Mr. Quigley's transition team on a pro bono basis makes about as much sense as his voting 'NO' for his own budget proposal! It begs to question does he really think people are that naive?
I'm sure issues will arise, and with Mr. Zweben not being under oath, one must wonder if there will be more questions after his responses than before!
In any event, Mr. Woerner should look at the outcome of the election, (almost 2:1 against), and reflect on his actions as supervisor, he can choose to remain arrogant and angry or accept and learn from his mistakes. The latter would make a successful return to local politics more possible than the attitude he has adopted and the behavior he is determined to display.
After congratulations are conveyed and accepted it is clear the real winners are the residents of the town of Ulster.
Good Luck, Mr. Quigley, Mr. Morrow, Ms Baldeli-Hendrick & Judge Kesick.
As for Mr. Woerner, a Mortician's License is in order, you've shown a real aptitude for burying things, a political career for starters and sadly the Town of Ulster and the people who entrusted it in your care.

Anonymous said...

3:22, Kevin Cahill has a list a mile long of people and organizations he has helped in this community. Please check your facts. Brian Cahill Nasty? maybe in your view but not mine. He is one of the nicest guys in politics. He did more in 4 years then Wadnola and Maloney did in their time combined. Ask around, you are getting bad information.

Anonymous said...

Q: What do Nicky and Rush Limbaugh have in oxycommon?

Please reply with your guesses!!!

Anonymous said...

Wow! 12:06 is right on! Woerner never called Quigley to concede (and congratulate). Woerner would love to blame his loss solely on the tax increase. He tried to convince the voters that the increase was due to the lack of revenue (e.g., sales tax, mortgage tax, state aid), but doesn't realize that though every other town in the county faced the same economic downturn, no one else had a 20+% tax increase. The real reason behind Nick's defeat is his sleazy underhanded dealings with Spada, Aaron, and Zweben coupled with his arrogance and nasty disposition. He somehow thinks his swagger and intimidation tactics are key to success, and sadly that is exactly what caused his failure. If Nick really cared about the Town of Ulster and its citizens, he would do everything he could to ensure a smooth transition. Instead, he's going to continue to be an ass which will ensure that he has no political future.

Somebody should check the morgue to see if the poor fella that got hit by the car is really dead, as he was pronounced dead by Sheran, who, according to published reports, blew at least a .18, which is more than double the legal limit of .08!! Incredible....How can he be allowed to prononce a death in that condition?
