OK. But those votes were secured over 6 months ago. Len has had this in the works for a long time now. And as an extra added bonus, if the the legislators decided to back out then she would have put her loyalty up to the highest bidder since only one vote separates the parties this year. The Bernardos' had everyone right where they wanted them.

Come on Jeremy, I know that you're smart enough to have known this months ago. How come you didn't put it out there. I am disappointed.

In politics you never really know who your friends are or who will stab you in the back. The proof will be at Organizational Session if one of the "promised" supporters goes AWOL (aka Aiello) and it goes to a vote. There goes chair-ship down the drain. Bet DD is licking his chops for another attempt at the helm. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. Was it worth it? Personally, Bernardo is too green and too weak but we know who will be calling the shots. Were we all born yesterday?

Bernardo would be the first woman and the first person never elected by the people. She ran lost, ran unoppose won, LOL ran unoppose won imagine if she had to face the voters with a real race. People of the county deserve better

  6. She has won two primaries, which is the election in a town like ROchester..no different than Donaldson, who is a former Chairman..in Kingston the primary is the election. Terry ran two opposed races.

Primary isn't for all the people and Donaldson has ran in the city and the county big difference. You are kind of biased I see

  8. Im not biased, I'm a Democrat but I'm just saying in a Republican or Democratic town some races are not competitive, it's not Terry's fault that Democrats did not put someone up against her this year...maybe they thought she was doing a good job.

Who cares. The Legislature has made themselves almost completely irrelevant. It is now a do nothing body. Just watch what happens with Golden Hill. They don't have the guts to even take a position on the thing and the executive will walk all over them as he locks the doors and sells the place. They should all give their salaries back because they are doing nothing.

Bernardo was opposed in the November election by M. Michailescu on the Liberty Coalition line. The Liberty Coalition did a lot of campaigning, signs, a newspaper, and letters to the editor. It was a tea bagger line that used a lot of dirty tricks, and took people's quotes out of context to try and fool the voters that they were somehow legit. Anyone who says that Bernardo got a free ride and was not opposed in the November election must not have voted in election district 21. The people in Rochester and Kerhonkson were united behind Bernardo in the primary and in the general election. Primary Election September - Bernardo 268 Michaelscu 105 - General Election November Bernardo 881 Michailescu 271.

881 votes. Out of a district that is suppose to be about 8,000-9,000?

I would bet most of the losers got more votes than that.

Less than 1% of the county population voted for her.

    Please post the truth.

  12. I doubt there is 9k in theat district but you can make that case about any legislator that ran in this county. Terry won. there was a low turn out this year, no big exciting races to drag voters out to the polls. Some people are just jealous of a strong woman. Why not just congratulate Terry and wait and see what kind of job she does?

Different races, different towns - All candidates in Rochester for the Town positions were unopposed except Bernardo. Lopez in Wawarsing was a close race decided by the absentee ballots - yet the winner got 602 to Bernardo's 881. Donaldson got 956 Rodriguez 664 - should have been a slam dunk in a highly Democratic towns.

Bernardo got more votes than Majority Leader Elect Ronk (no opposition) and Majority Whip Elect Maio (had opposition).

Jeremy, your ignorance is showing. All of the districts have to be the same by law with small variations being allowed. It is something between 8-9k for each district.

Donaldson was in a 4 person race and did very well considering.

Bernardo has to face a legit Republican and a Democrat in November, then I will agree she is worthy. Until then, she is nothing more than a Republican/Independence political appointee.

We already saw what kind of job Bernardo did and there wasn't much to talk about. But in reality that doesn't separate her from the rest of her fellow legislators who also did nothing.

there are individuals that actually live, breath and vote outside of kingston and the surrounding vicinity. It is time the contributing community of ulster gains credit and respect, represented by an individual when no person would take responsibility for a community that made ulster country what it is....or once was and could be again. despite opinion, support was given in a region that garners little respect, but with the support of the people, will be a force to be contended with .
