Rich Cahill, a candidate for mayor, has cheated on an internet poll. Are you kidding me? How desprete can you possibly be? I run a small poll for fun every week. At the end of the week, regardless of the results I take the poll down. In doing so I take down the opportunity for people to vote. Last week we asked, who do you support in the upcoming Mayoral election, at the end of the week Sottile won the poll with 56% of the vote. Now somehow, Mr.Cahill, or one of his people, continued to vote off-site and it's obvious there was only one person voting. Which is just dishonest. While many point out, hey, it's just a stupid poll, that means nothing, (which they're right about) it's also something fun people take part in. Mr.Cahill has ruined that fun.
The funnier thing is Rich Cahill is taking credit for the win on his website! Wow, I guess the GOP will take a win anyway that they can. Even if it's by cheating.
You know, it is just a stupid poll. These blogs are frequented mostly by young people (let's face it, most older people don't have a clue what a blog is), and they use them to "play." They write stupid things, they vote over and over, and then you, without having any idea who really did it, accuse Cahill (or one of his people, who Dad?) of doing this. Here is a guy who wants to talk about serious issues (like 27 percent tax increases, the 63 percent sewer increases, the quality of life issues, the never ending "For Sale" signs), and on these blogs we get the "players," "the polls," "the little Dicks" "the , oh Cahill and Haggerty are Superman and Clark Kent" What we don't get is any real talk as to why Cahill should be considered a valid candidate, and why Sottile (I know the greatest Mayor ever) has to go. You Jeremy, are a Democratic committeeman. It is your job to bash any Republican, especially this one, who despite all denials to the contrary, is a legitimate threat. Before I am written off as a Red Republican, let me say, I am a life-long enrolled Democrat. I have never voted for a Republican for Mayor. I will this one, because I want to continue to live in the house I have lived in my entire life, and not have to look for a "For Sale" sign. And guess what, I talk to other life-long Democrats, and I have a lot of company. So keep writing, because I think you're going to be surprised, despite the huge money differential (here is one election the Republicans can't buy, but the Dems can)and just how dissatisfied many Kingstonians (we're not all developers) are with this Mayor, even though they have no clue what a blog is.

ReplyDeleteOne thing this blog allows is an outlet for myself, a member of law enforcement, to speak to the public, without speaking to the public. As an employee of ----, I can't talk with the press. I will say I'm absolutely appalled by Mr.Cahill's plan to hire part-time officers as part of his plan to lower taxes. This is going to be a big issue when it comes down to our endorsement for mayor. I can tell you who won't get it.

The only cheater here is you. You are passing yourself off as a political commentator when you really are just a shill.
Responsible reporting requires you to include that the poll is not scientific. There is absolutely no accuracy to it. Zero.
It doesn't matter who wins that poll. Cahill could be pulling in 90 percent. Sottile could be pulling in 90 percent.
The cheater here is you for not only trying to pass off your poll as legitimate, but for trying to tarnish the name of a candidate without proof.
You know, if you are a member of law enforcement, you should be a bit smarter. Cahill said we need more policemen, And, since we cannot afford full-time officers, his proposal is to try to hire some part-time. This is a bad thing? You would rather we continue to try to fight crime with the less-than-adequate number of policemen we have now, rather than try to take a step forward with the money we do have to spend? As I said, as a member of law enforcement, there must be many times that you have to actually listen to what someone says, and not twist the words to meet your needs or hypothesize what you think he means. Stop worrying about me, me, me, and rather, what is best for Kingston. No where, no place has Cahill said he was cutting the police force. Those who worry too much about losing their jobs are usually the ones not doing a very one. They even have to make things up.

ReplyDeleteTo be fair, I followed the poll closely. Sottile jumped out to a big lead early and Cahill started surging. He closed the gap considerably before you decided to end the poll. Cahill's supporters kept voting more than Sottile's did and he took the lead the day after you ended the poll. Those are the clear facts.
