Primary Shows Kingstonians Happy with Sottile and his Democrats

With the dust settling from Tuesday's primary one thing is clear Mayor James Sottile and his Democrats will coast to victory in November with all of Sottile's hand picked candidates winning big. I think a message was sent on Tuesday that the people in Kingston are happy with it's current leadership.

James Noble trounced Lenny Walker by more then 2:1, Landi, Whitlock and DiBella were all successful in their primaries. One shocker was Alderman Senor's loss to fringe candidate Todd Langon who pulled out a squeaker winning by two votes, I think we can chalk it up to an extremely low turn out in the eighth ward and people wanting a choice in November. In the end, Bob Senor will have no trouble winning reelection this November.

The City Judge race split with Judge Gilpatric winning the Independent line and J. Michael Bruhn Jr. winning the Conservative line...while Judge Gilpatric has a strong edge and in the end will emerge victorious this will be the only real competitive race city wide.

And, finally, Roscoe Pecora vowed to stay in the race for County Legislature after getting beaten handily in a Democratic Primary by Alen Lomita, Phil Terpening and Sal Silvestro. Pecora said he would stay in on the Conservative line and run as a spoiler. And you guessed it Pecora is a staunch supporter of Vincent Bradley Jr., surprise surprise!

I must protest this gay bashing of Conservative candidates. "Can't we all just get along."

Explain to us again, as to why a primary would have been so bad between Bradley and Sennet? Did Noble spend ALL his resources defeating Walker? BTW Jeremy, if you're theory on attaining party lines equating to loss votes has any weight, Noble's got big troubles.

Anyone wondering why the Esopous republicans disowned Roscoe? it is pretty clear now. He is a dickhead.

I see that the Board of Elections realized they made a mistake regarding the outcome in the 8th ward and in fact Bob Senor won the Republican primary!

What the results show is that 30% of your hard-core party members DO NOT WANT NOBLE-Sottile. The party will not get these voters back in line for November's election. If you've lost the dedicated voters, you've lost the average voters as well.Be afraid, folks!!!

    Gilpatric
    Walker
    Sennett
    Schreibman
    Bradley JUNIOR

#1: Can you find the name of a currently enrolled Democrat who will be an enrolled Republican after the General Election in November?

#2: Can you find the name of the non-enrolled candidate among the following names of Democratic candidates?

Faithful blaberbloggers know the right answer: Walker is a Democrat who will be a Republican by Thanksgiving. Bradley JUNIOR is non-enrolled ("independent") who will be job hunting after election day.

Thats why there is really no meaningful comparison to be made between the Noble-Walker Democratic primary election that was held and the Sennett-Schreibman-Bradley JUNIOR Democratic primary that the party avoided. Enrolled Democrats are entitled to challenge Democrats in primaries, while Republicans and non-enrolled candidates are not permitted to do so without permission of the party.

Keep in mind that Alderman-at-large is a two-way race and County District Attorney was potentially a three-way race.

Also, one was city-wide while the other was county-wide. The cost of waging a primary in a county-wide race is significant.

It is amazing to me that the general public is ignorant enough to want to keep these people in power. We are a city falling into despair, and none of our elected officials know how to stop the bleeding. One day Jeremy you may own a home and have to pay taxes and raise a family, and will see how hard it is to provide for them, and pay for all of your heros mistakes. This administration has failed the public for the past 5 years, and caused the mass exodus of decent people and businesses! How can you be so blind? I understand you are young and impressionable, but take a good look at what this city has become and where it is going. Jim Sotille isnt even to able to conduct himself properly in public at his own fundraisers. Even when provoked, one must remain civilized and more intelligent than your opponent. And Mrs Dibella thought it would be a good business move to open a high dollar furniture store in a low income city. Not a smart busniess move if you ask me, and didnt it fail by the way? so lets employ her to make decisions regarding the whole city....Pick a new hero Jeremy, yours are failing miserably!

  14. This is Linda Karn. I did not post the 2:10 AM post, and would appreciate Jeremy Blaber, who has met me several times and knows I would never post such statements, take this comment and all related comments off his blog immediately.

  15. I get several comments daily and while I try, I can't go through each one on an individual basis. The comments have been deleted and I never would have published them if I had caught it to begin with. It was a mistake and I apologize.

Jeremy, You are obviously not capable of administering this blog. You need to delete the 3:46pm anonymous post. You have previously claimed to not allow any personal attacks such as this.

You need to clean up your act or shut down this blog.

Jeremy, Regarding the "Lynda Karn" posts: Aren't you able to tell from where a post has come regardless of whether it's done anonymously or other? Can't you at least check a computer address to verify its authenticity? If you have NO way of telling where a post comes from I think we all need to be a bit skeptical about the "names" attached to some.

Regardless of who wins the City Judge race I think any objective outsider can credit Bruhn with a victory. He is the underdog in this race and has more than held his own throughout. He is running against an incumbent, he is running against a Democrat who has the backing of all the Dems in power, he is essentially running against two candidates with vastly different supporters. I have a feeling that if Kingston doesn't benefit from him as our next City Judge then we will be sure to see other great accomplishments from him in the future!

The obstacle to Gilpatric's success is Sottile's support of Bratley. Look at all the "Bratley Bruhn" bumper stickers. Bratley has a lot of Republican support in the city, and they're not going to vote for Gilpatric. If Sottile liked Gilpatric as much as he pretends he does, he'd drop Bratley and support and endorse Jon Sennett, the Democratic candidate for DA. If Sottile had a formidable opponent, he'd be more likely to do just that. Unfortunately, Sottile doesn't have much to worry about with Cahill; therefore, it's safe for him to support an idiot for DA who has no experience in prosecuting street crimes and can't win on the minor party lines. Losing Gilpatric will be the fallout for Jim Sottile's idiocy. I would vote for Sottile and Noble, but since they're supporting Bratley (a non-Democrat) I'm not supporting them.

6:01 hit the nail on the head. But I will add, Mike will win City Court Judge. Mike Bruhn, Jr. is the future of Kingston City Court. Qualified. That's all that needs to be said.

    Hey Mayor Sottile
can you buy my kids wallmart cards and school supplies and then I will vote for you too! just like you did for Shirley Whitlock.

Shirley Whitlock wrote me and ask for my write in vote on the GOP line then she down plays ryan's cross endorsement MEANWHILE the mayor is sharing his headquarters with Bradley? sounds to me there's a lot of cross overs this election year by the way Ryan has my vote along with Cahill.

7:09 AM's "cross-overs" remark is indicative of what's to come in Kingston. Party loyalty is gone in Kingston - thanks to Gollnick and Sottile. They can't complain if any Democrats or Committeepeople open support their opposition, because they're guilty of the same thing. That's why I'm voting for Cahill - if Sottile can't support the Democratic nominee (Sennett), then I can't vote for him. I hope the rest of the city sees him for who he is - he's an opportunist. It's all about who can benefit him, and not what's best for the city. He endorsed Pataki who didn't do s--t for Kingston, and now he's endorsing the Conservative candidate for DA who has only office experience. Bradley is still bragging about Guy Velella who had a 25-count indictment and pleaded guilty to a Class E Felony (one step above a misdemeanor). I'm not impressed with Bradley's credentials at all. Fortunately, the rest of the county isn't wowed by the Bradley name. They're smarter than the Kingston electorate and will vote for Jon Sennett.

Is it true that Jennifer Ringwood was driving people to the 4th ward polls to vote for for Shirley whitlock? and was Shirley whitlock standing in the parking lot of the Hodge center on election day talking to voters comimg in to vote to telling them to vote for her isn't that against the election board rules?
