Sottile's Tough Choice

Alderwoman Ringwood's resignation is a big loss to Kingston and Sottile has a tough choice in picking her replacement. I have went through the Ward and have narrowed list down to four that most likely Sottile will pick from.

Kathy Mihm ---Not Interested in Position

Tom Hoffay

Jack Finch

Vince Bradley Jr.

All four are highly qualified for the position and would do a credible job and most importantly beat the Republican in November. That is really key, Sottile must pick a candidate that is willing to run this November. I have a favorite but will not opine, for risk of him/her not being picked. I also am a member of the Democratic committee so I will NOT be able to talk about who Sottile picks even if I find out. I would be willing to bet, one of the four mentioned will be the next Ward Alderman.

Highly qualified Thomas Hoffay would be a superior choice for the appointment. In addition to his legendary political skill and insight, plus his steady leadership as Chair of the County Democratic Party, Hoffay worked for NYS government, in various roles for Eliott Spitzer when he was Attorney General and now Governor, worked in the trenches on the board of the Kingston Housing Authority. He has more than paid his dues in the city - and would be terrific on common council.

Cosme is not qualified to be Council Page let alone Kingston's 2nd Ward Alderman. I hope Sottile appoints the Hon. Tom Hoffay

Something stinks in Kingston Ringwood didn,t know two months ago that she was moving?. Isn't her husband a teacher? I think a deal was made behind closed doorsbefore the general election so Ringwood would run knowing she was going to resign so the mayor could hand pick yet another puppet alderman of his choice and Cosme would be left out in the cold, if I were Cosme I'd be pissed.

the only reason you say Cosme is not qualified, is because he is not scared to call out everyone on thier bs......
That doesnt make him unqualified, it makes him honest, and that is what this administration fears the most!
    Seeing the truth!

Wasn't Tom Hoffay in charge of KHA Board when the mayor's favorite developer beat them out of $ 50,000.

Uh...sorry Bill, but that was when Al Spada was Chairman.

8:34 is dead on with that comment.

I believe Thomas Hoffay was on the KHA board -- Al Spada as board President-- when Steve Aaron broke the $100K contract with KHA and failed to pay $50K. I recall it was Steve Fischer who was in charge of KHA at the time. Fischer subsequently left KHA and Kingston. I think Hoffay succeeded Spada at the helm and was part of the KHA clean up team.

The important thing to remember here is Steve Aaron never paid the $50K to KHA... but it was damn nice of him to spend $3K on that swell New Years Eve party for Seniors (he got his picture in the paper and sweet press coverage.) Now, with the on again-off again blessing of Congressman Hinchey (if Hugh Reynolds told the story right) he wants to redevelop the city's uptown parking garage cause hes such a nice guy.

Maybe Mayor Sottile has memory problems... I hear Aaron was a total migrane headache during the construction of Birchwood Village. Did the Mayor ever get a site bond form Aaron? Can Aaron even get insurance?

The city of Kingston needs a Manager not this Bafoon we call a Mayor. I wish we could have someone like Mr. Aaron look at the City Budget and make the neccesary changes to get Kingston moving in the right direction. People may say alot of things about Mr. Aaron but when it comes down to it he gets the job done unlike the village idiot we have now.

ANYBODY KNOW WHY LITTLE DICK SMEARS PEOPLE? GET THIS FROM HIS BLOG:

    Richard T. Cahill Jr. said...
No, I was referring to Mr. Hoffay. Ask him why he is no longer a priest. Ask him why he was fired from Mother Cabrini.

WHY DON'T WE ASK LITTLE DICK WHY FORMER RENS. COUNTY DA KEN BRUNO HAD HIM WRITTEN UP AND FORCED TO CLEAN THE MEN'S ROOM?

I don't know who is Mr. Finch, but I do know the 2nd Ward would be especially fortunate to have the likes of Thomas Hoffay as its City Council representative. Of course, he'll be awfully busy as Alderman and Chair of the Democratic Party.

What is it that makes the sonofajudge qualified for the job? Oh yeah . . . nothing.

  19. To anonymous 7:38,

Your comments about Ken Bruno and myself are dead wrong. You've been listening to Democratic Party gossip for too long.
