BRUNO CALLS IT QUITS

BREAKING NEWS: JOE BRUNO WILL NOT SEEK ANOTHER TERM IN THE STATE SENATE.

Joe Bruno, the current Majority Leader of the State Senate, has had a tough year, his wife passed away and he has been surrounded by a federal investigation for over a year, while this is a shock, it's mot a total surprise. Bruno who is in his seventies and has served in the Senate for more than three decades, over ten as majority leader. We should all thank and commend him for his service to New York.

One thing is for sure the Democrats taking control of the state senate will happen this year. Get ready for Majority Leader Malcolm Smith.

When analyzing political trends and developments, it is foolish to declare that any prediction for the future is "for sure."

Just a year ago, everyone thought Hillary Clinton would be the Democratic nominee for President and no one would have predicted Spitzer's downfall and Patterson's ascension to the Governor's post.

In fact, it is rather likely that the Deomcrats in NY do not WANT the State Senate. If they were to get it, they would have no one left to blame for their own failures. And, let's face it, the one trait that both Democrats and Republicans share in NY is an embarassing string of failures. That's why this state is in such a mess, because neither Party is willing to make the tough decisions.

In this game, the only thing that is for sure is that nothing is for sure.

  9. 3pm: I'm willing to bet Mike would just as most people, myself included would be honored to have Sara McGinty nominate them for public office. Sara and her husband Judge McGinty are the nicest people you will ever meet. They are two people that are so involved in their community and give back so much. Judge Tony's race was the first campaign I ever worked on at 17. Sara did nothing wrong. Leaving nasty anonymous comments about her to try and attack Mike are disgusting and speaks volumes about your own character.

Nobody really thinks that Bruno's "red state" Senate seat will turn blue, although in a presidential election year things like that can happen. Without a strong popular incumbent in a hot contest, Republicans sometimes stay home thinking "what's the use?"

Cheers to the guy who got it right: John Bonacic. The only one of the Senators who had the courage to speak truth to power and call for Bruno to go two years before the rest of the Senators finally forced him out.
