The Daily Freeman, the main newspaper of Kingston and Ulster County was a NO SHOW for the first debate featuring the candidates for County Executive. How is that possible? How can the hometown local paper completely skip out on coverage of the most historical race this county has ever seen?
Some of the stories they felt were more important that ran in today's paper..... The lack of air conditioning at Kingston City Hall...I'm not kidding. Tell us again how a political editor is optional.
The lack of coverage by the Freeman helps my blog though,we have passed an all time record of over 2,500 unique hits in a day and it's only 3:30pm. I'm sure the Freeman gets that in a few hours but it shows their lack of coverage is making readers look elsewhere.
You know when gas goes above $4 a gallon Ira doesn't want to pay mileage. All reporters are now chained to their desks.
ReplyDeleteRemember the Freeman's parent company is teetering on bankruptcy.
Blaber, the air conditioning story was interesting. Everybody is talking about the heat, not county executive. Reading about a debate doesn't turn me on.
ReplyDeleteNo excuse for the Freeman, but be real, people are not coming to your blog in order to find out news because there isn't much there either and it certainly is not unbiased when it is there. Now I am sure Ulster Publishing redership is going up as a result of the Freeman's lack of coverage.
ReplyDeleteHugh would have been there. I think that Freeman readers are more interested in who died and which one of their homeys got pinched by the po-po on Franklin Street. I mean, seriously, most of the wags who bilch their pablum here on Blabber's Blog at least appear of a more professional ilk. On the contrary, most Freeman readers are welfarite Kingstonians who spend most of their day at Shop Rite spending your hard earned tax dollars with their WIC cards.

God Bless America, not God Damm America!!!!!
If and when the Freeman goes under, I think a lot of people are going to miss it. I know I (although I love the Kingston Times) will. The more news sources the better...
ReplyDeletePHOENIX
Blaber...... Bernardo just upped your photo of Hein and Schumer.... he was at the McCain Town Hall Meeting on the Fox News Channel in NYC in the front row AND got to ask McCain a question on behalf of Ulster County. He also got to shake McCain's hand, and McCain looked interested.... unlike Shumer did with Hein. Better see if Hein can get Obama on the phone fast.
ReplyDeleteGreat...Len in a lovefest with John McCain. McCain is round 3 of the Bush administration.
ReplyDeleteWhat resolution did Ulster Legislature pass against Bush and Cheney?
McCain's prime has passed and he is bossom buddies with GWB. That goes over big in UC.
Back to the snackbar Len.
Len got a few hours off from pumping the butter onto the popcorn?
ReplyDeleteWho cares that he was with McCain..that is a reason why I would not support him. He claims to be an Independent but is a Republican with a capital R.
Bernardo is working to represent us already. Hein just runs off at the mouth.
ReplyDeleteIf Reynolds was still at the Freeman, he would have made sure the story was run.
Stuart, get back to you election work. You shouldn't be crusin' the blogs on county time.
ReplyDeleteHow many times do we need to tell you that Mat is in charge of the snack bar, not Len. Could you get it right? That's really disrespectful to Mat. We don't want to have to keep coming back to this blog to straighten your lame a$$ out.
ReplyDelete12:43 Obviously you have never been to Skate Time 209. They don't offer butter as a topping on the popcorn.
ReplyDeleteand 9:54, Obviously you have never been there either. Mat is in charge of the snack bar, not Len.
