Here is the Hein ad. Mike Hein, you know within three seconds what he is running for, which is key. Hein also talks about the position will bring to government : accountability. Over and over you see his name in the ad and what he is running for and it has a personal family connection added to it. This is a superior ad.

Night and day difference to Bernardo's. Who fails to mention what he is running for, until about 28 seconds into a 30 second ad. For the first 17 seconds we don't know who he is. These tv ads are supposed to be introducing yourself to the public and Bernardo misses the mark.

I could be wrong just my analysis.

Mike Hein is a strategic thinker who has the ability to communicate and build concensus.

We can't afford a wishy washy independent candidate who will need 1 year to get up to speed with how government actually works. Not to mention a small percentage of support in the legislature.

Maybe Len would be better suited for a job at the chamber of commerce.

The ad is not bad. I think Bernardo's has a more personal touch. I also think that Hein is presenting himself as the Quasi-Incumbent, which is a mistake in this political climate.

9:29 The Bernardo ad is bad. With all due respect, aside from close family members...who cares about how he grew up? Yes, it shows character, but people want to know what he is going to do now.

It does matter that he built strong businesses. But, building a business is not the same as running a government.

It is not the time for soft, warm and fuzzy sell. People will not be able to afford heat this winter. Perhaps Len has lost his perspective on what it is like to live hand to mouth.

However, he seems to be good at sticking his foot in his mouth. Calling for each town to be responsible for economic development is inefficient and counter-productive.

He is out of his league in this race.

9:29 When you say quasi-incumbent you mean completely qualified right? The idea is to elect the person who can do the job as county executive without on the job training.

Using the phrase...ready to lead on day one throws Bernardo's campaign into reverse as it did not work for Hil.

Both Len & Mike's ads are good and accomplish its goals--helping voters get to know the candidates. I disagree with 6:34 & agree with 9:29--Bernardo is the perfect candidate for the current political environment.

Blaber as usual you are right on. One thing that also is good and key about the Hein ad is the website, it brings them back to his site. Bernardo has no mention of that or how to get a hold of him.

It town needs to be responsible for economic development not depending on oters to support their spending habits

Hein is running for EXECUTIVE. I expect any EXECUTIVE in business or public service to be polished, professional and to have a pleasant appearance.

This is the face of Ulster County we are talking about. I would rather see a person who commands attention and respect sitting in a meeting than someone who will have to fumble through papers trying to find his latest request from a County Department head because he doesn't know what the Hell he is talking about.

I have to agree with Blaber's thoughts on both ads. Hein's ad is well done. It gets right to the point about its purpose while the Bernardo ad keeps you guessing exactly what it is you are watching.

    Hey Big Guy,
Mike Hasn't gotten anything ready in 2/3 years. Why do you think the next three be any different. I must admit he talks of change but the only thing he has changed is his party. NO JOBS! Lance "I have failed" Mattison, and Allan "oops I made a mistake when I beat up the Republicans for moving the budget deadline now its ok" Lomita. Jeremy Post this from a Dem who is watching, I want to vote for Mike but Bernardo is on the Move...fast too

Click info by the Hein ad over 680 people have viewed it compared to the 180 for Bernardo's ad.

What's sad is the Hein commercial is only on Blaber's blog, where the Bernardo ad is linked to 6 political blogs.

So Bernardo has 6:1 the advertisement and Hein is beating him 6:1 in views. Either Blaber's blog is more popular than all the others combined or no one cares about Len Bernardo's ad.

Hein's ad has been out since 2007. Bernardo's ad just came out, so of course it has fewer hits.

Bernardo is on the air though, CNN, Fox, Channel 6....

Hein's is only on Blaber's Blog

If Mr. Bernardo had any clue about how county government works he would know that over 65% of county budgets are state mandates. Also, why does he keep attacking Mr. Hein. Tell me why I should vote for you Mr. Bernardo, not why I shouldn't vote for the other guy! Nasty, dirty, spin politics only tells me you have nothing real to say. Also, I heard Mr. Bernardo on the radio. He is totaly clueless about government budgets and finances. We can not afford to have someone come in who knows nothing. There is no time for a learning curve. Mr. Bernardo, why don't you take a civil service test, something entry level in finance and budgets and then, after a few years when you have a clue, run for office. Oh that's right, you have no qualifications to even take a Civil service test. The man scares me!
