McCain's Latest Blunder : In The 21st Century Nations Don't Invade Other Nations
Yeah, he said it, when asked about the Georgia-Russia hostilities. Another foreign policy blunder from Mr. Experience. Can you imagine that McCain of all people would say such a thing. I really think he is starting to lose it.

Mr. Blaber -
ReplyDeleteYou really need to learn to understand the English language. John McCain saying that nations do not invade other nations is much like when a parent says "No, no, no. We don't do that."
The statement does not literally mean that it is never done. It means that it is not tolerated and on the rare occasion it does take place, civilized nations will take action to make certain that things are set right and the aggressor is not permitted to do so again, lest Putin and Medvedev get the idea that this is the 1930s and they can simply absorb their neighboring nations the way a certain Austrian who was democratically elected Chancellor of Germany did.
Appeasement has never worked. Diplomacy only works when the other party has a modicum of civilization. Dictators understand nothing but force and, yes, Medvedev and Putin are dictators, regardless of their having been elected democratically.
As you serious? You cannot possibly compare Iraq after Iraq INVADED another sovereign nation called Kuwait (remember), their dictator Saddam Hussein violated 15 UN resolutions, and funded suicide bombers in Israel to a democratically elected government in Georgia that wants to join NATO and is being invaded by an increasingly totalitarian Russia. I don't think people need to review the Democrats statements on Iraq before the 2003 invasion but lets look at two:
ReplyDelete"Without question, we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal, murderous dictator, leading an oppressive regime ... He presents a particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation ... And now he is miscalculating America's response to his continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction ... So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real..." - Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Jan. 23. 2003
"If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear. We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq's weapons of mass destruction program." - President Bill Clinton, Feb. 17, 1998
There are about 500 more just like it from Democrats. And then there are the UN Resolutions. What was the purpose of UN Resolution 1441?
"United Nations Security Council Resolution 1441 is a resolution by the UN Security Council, passed unanimously on November 8, 2002, offering Iraq "a final opportunity to comply with its disarmament obligations" that had been set out in several previous resolutions."
These are two completely different situations. One that was warranted and one not. McCain wasn't saying that invasions aren't taking place but that they shouldn't be happening in the 21st century.
Political Ammo- You must understand that it is a superb idea when the Democrats say something, and a terrible idea when the Republicans do it. Typical Democrat logic. It does not make sense except for its followers.
ReplyDeletePleeeeeeeeeeeease Cut the double talk!
ReplyDeleteIsreal violated hundreds of UN sanctions.
Kerry and others ,like all of us, seem to blindly trust what our Govt. tells us which in this case was wrong.
Funny how we have a different yardstick for ourselves than for others...smitty
PS Does Karl Rove run some diplomatic workshops at the Holiday Inn? How can I get some grant money to attend?
Did I mention Israel? No. But I do not think any rational person could compare Israel securing their existence in a region committed to their destruction to Saddam's Iraq. When you speak of UN Resolution violations are you referring to the countless resolutions condemning Israel's claim to Jerusalem? Do you also fail to understand that Kerry is a part of the U.S. government? I guess only Republicans and what they say come from "the government" but when Bill Clinton was president his constant warnings about Saddam and WMDs must have been just an attempt to distract the American people from his sexcapades in the Oval Office. Oh well Karl Rove was behind all of this anyways...the creation of Israel, 9/11, Saddam, Christmas, Texas, the Hummer, and anything else that bothers "progressive" people.
ReplyDeleteJeremy,
