Schreibman At It Again....

Rich Parete leads the ticket by far with one ballot line..instead of pushing him away, Schriebman should be embracing Rich and asking for his help and advice.

Julian Schreibman the chair of the Ulster County Democratic Committee is at it again, this time he is preparing to get candidates to primary incumbent Democratic legislators this fall. Are you kidding me??? The Democrats still have not secured a candidate for clerk or for all the 33 seats in the county leg and Julian wants to focus his time and energy in to taking out good fellow Democrats... where is the leadership and united party that Julian promised when he was elected just a few months ago?

The fact of the matter is that Julian is playing the same games that he accused his predecessor of playing...going after his political enemies out of spite. The difference is John Parete knew how to win elections and didn't spend 90% of his time living in NYC.

According to Stuart Fraiser Julian is looking to primary Rich Parete, besides the fact that Julian should have courted Rich for clerk, it is crazy to think that Rich will be beaten in a primary, he leads the ticket every single year. Also, when you primary and at large seat, you primary the entire district so Rob Parete and Roy Hochberg will also face a primary as a result of Julian's challenge. Which means in all reality it will be newcomer, Roy Hochberg that would lose in a primary.

I also will tell you that I will work every weekend and spare second I have to go to Ulster County and work for Rich...Rich is a friend and a great legislator. One thing Julian can't do is out work me, we beat him for the DA nod, and we beat his chosen candidate for Comptroller back at the convention. I know he won the chairmanship but that was because we ad only a week to promote a candidate that was widely unknown.

In the end Julian needs to stop the infighting and certainly stop causing the fighting and get a candidate to run for Clerk and make sure all the seats in the legislature will be competitive, places like Saugerties and Marlboro, where there are blanks every year. Also while you're at Julian, how bout raising some money so we don't have to move our headquarters yet again!

Let's be fair: Schreibman hasn't raised a dime, but as far as that goes Parete wasn't a great fundraiser for the party either.
I remember that soon after Parete became chair he closed the storefront and moved the office upstairs in the Opera House for cheaper rent, just as Schreibman is doing now.

If you want to place blame, however, then blame the closing of the Democratic storefront on Maurice Hinchey- he picked up the tab for rent on headquarters for Parete, but discontinued paying for it for Schreibman. What's up with that?

Who gives a shit, Schriebman is the chair and it's his job to raise money and come up with candidates and he has done neither. At least we could count on Parete to get Democrats elected!

We lost the DA race on John Parete's watch. We have not lost one county-wide race under Schriebman. There will be strong candidates for county clerk and county judge.

Schriebman inherited a bankrupted party. He has effectively cut expenses by half by moving to another headquarters. The Spring Brunch will honor Lou Kirschner and feature Senator Kirsten Gillibrand. Not bad for a guy who has been in office less than one year.

If this is true, where are the county Dem leaders? How come they are not up in arms?

Donaldson, Cahill, and even Hein, you guys are next!

Please Gillibrand is coming because she is running for senate and let's Dave it juLIEn had nothing to do with the victories of last year! Hein won due to his support and backing of people like lue and spada. Auerbach won due to the 24/7 support and work of Blaber. Julian did shit!

Parete's name is tarnished and it would be good to have a primary for his seat. Kirsten Gillibrand is doing what she should for our party. After the insulting behavior of Parete undermining the county party against the endorsement her predecessor, she should be here to back up the new chair regardless of who it is.

Jeremy, Julian stepped aside at a crucial moment to give Jon the nomination. His reward is this chairmanship. If it were not for that self-less act, your blog would not have been propelled to its prominence. Temper your ties to the Parete clan. They will become like Sottile. Use your popularity to steer the party forward. Time never runs backwards. Who is chair is not significant. Who is no longer in control is. Evolve, don't degenerate.

  9. 912 Wise up, Julian had no shot at beating Jon at anything let alone DA, Sennett is superior to Julian and most others in every way possiable.

In fact if it were not for Julian, Jon would have won the first round at the convention and would be the DA today.

    Jeremy,

You would do well to follow the advise of 9:12pm. recognize that by continuing to create a schism between Jon and Julian you hurt both. I'm a big fan of Jon and hope he runs for office in the future. He will need Julian and the united support of the committee to win. Your personal allegiances and opinions are standing in the way of good objective reporting.

It is surprising that you would deny any Democrat the opportunity to put their name forward at the committee. Your anger should be directed at some of your buddies who supported Bradley, not Julian.

  11. There is no scism between Jon and Julian in fact the only person that got out of the way was Jon when he allowed Julian to become chair of the party.

As our late Senator would say, you can have your own opinions but not your own facts! The fact of the matter is that Julian did not drop out for Jon or for the good of the party, he dropped out midway through petition season becasue he did not have the support or ability to collect the required amount of signtures for a primary.

Even when he dropped out he could not even say Jonathan by name when he asked everyone to support him.

I have been very critical of Julian but after he became chair of the party, I stopped out of respect for him and his office, he deserves a chance but to try and primary fellow Dems to get even shows that he is acting like a spoiled brat.

Julian needs to find a candidate for clerk and elect that candidate and show that he can stand on his own two feet...I really do wish him the best for the sake of the party that I love.

Rich Parete may be primaried, but it is not under the direction or support of Julian Schriebman. I agree "you can have your own opinions but not your own facts!" That also relates to your accusations surrounding a potential primary. Your postings do not seem to be at all supportive of Julian but I'll take you at your word that you will support the party that you love. I will say that you have opened up the new version of your blog to more dissenting opinions. That is to your credit.

Julian can put up anyone he wants. Rich, Rob and Roy will be sworn back into office in January. The only difference is they will be in the minority party.

The Parete's have won many elections without Julian's help or support. This year won't be any different.

Schreibman's true test will be County Clerk. A loss and he will become less irrelevant than he is today.

Hopefully a canidate emerges that the entire Democratic Community gets behind for the "Good of the Party" ignoring the calls to support Nina because Albert supported them.

Get it Mike. It may be you next time!

The true test for Mike Hein will be WHEN the Democratic candidate for County Clerk announces his/her candidacy. Will Hein stand beside them when he/she announces?

That, my fellow Democrats is the question. If he doesn't stand beside our candidate, then we know that we were HAD and made the wrong choice.

Parete raised a ton of moeny for the part as opposed to what Schreibman is doing. The guy has not raised a dime. He is a joke and you all get what you deserve because none of you who supported him ever checked what his back stabbing reputation was before you voted for him. Now live with it. He will run the party into the ground.
