Comptroller Auerbach is looking to hire new staff to properly look over the county's finances and make sure every dollar and cent is accounted for... After the Dean Palen fiasco, the Jail fiasco and the most recent issues with DSS, its a no brainer.
As my father would if you're not going to do something right, don't do it all. We need the chief auditor of Ulster Counter to have the staff needed to do the job he was elected to do.
Tomorrow we will detail how the former county administrator and the charter committee, short staffed the Comptroller's office and what needs to be done to correct it.
We will also go into detail about how these positions will pay for themselves in the long run.
If you spend 300k on staff and they save taxpayers a million dollars by weeding out wasteful spending is it worth it?!?!
A full report tomorrow night!
Take a look at Nicky's picture on the front page of Friday's Freeman. He really looks like he's cracking up. I mean, there are similarities to him and Private Pyle in "Full Metal Jacket". With the impending Quigley onslaught, he truly is in a WORLD of SH*T!!!!!
ReplyDeleteCal the Conservative
Absolutely.

Just for clarification - my "absolutely" comment was a response to the original post - NOT to the anonymous comment above...

No, it's not worth it because you will NEVER get rid of that staff.
ReplyDeleteOne you audit everything and find the waste and eliminate it, then what?
We are stuck with those positions FOREVER.
We should have just elected Quigley, he would have been done with auditing the entire county by now, all by himself.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Auerbach could sub-contract the work to Quigley.
Now THAT'S an idea.
Blaber encourages spending 300k (I'm guessing that's annually) to save a million bucks.
ReplyDeleteWell we're already off to a great start with the $4724 that was uncovered with the Department of Social Services Medicaid spend-down program. At this rate we should be reaching the million dollar goal in just over 100 years.
At 300k a year we'll be even further in the hole after 3 1/2 years of paying these salaries. And that's only if you're grouping any benefits (health insurance, 401k, etc) into that 300k figure, if not that time frame would be shorter.
What happens to these employees after they're done auditing the entire county? Are they going to continue to collect a paycheck? Or will they be terminated so we can pay their unemployment instead?
So I see you are still censoring posts. That is very very lame. If it is a valid comment negative or positive to your view it should be posted. If it isn't then this is like watching fox news. There is no give and take here it is all one sided gibberish.
ReplyDeleteI will repeat, this guy is asking for TWICE his current budget. he ran for the job knowing what the budget was and what he could do with it. It was pretty well established what his staff was going to be and what his responsibilities eith that staff would be. Now he is telling us he needs twice as much money to do the job he wanted effectively. Please....maybe it is time for somone else to try it with the current budget. And there is no way that he can guarantee the savings you are predicting simply by writing him the check he is asking for. Also, we will never ever get rid of those people once they are on the payroll. Live with what you have. My taxes are high enough by a long long shot.
Ulster county wasn't smart enough to elect Quigley. They elected someone who needs to hire someone else to part of his job. Maybe the next comptroller should be a CPA. They would have saved thousands of dollars. They will see when they get the bill in the future!!
ReplyDeleteStill having problems supporting Quigley. Why is he "slumming" around running for a relativley low office given his financial stature? Something is fishy here!
ReplyDeleteZweben's Bitch
The County's Loss is the Town of Ulsters' gain, Jim would have done a great job as County Comptroller, a CPA with his credentials, yes he is probably a bit over qualified for the Supervisors position but when you think of how under qualified Nick is, we need Jim's expertise to get us out of the mess Nick got us in.
ReplyDeleteWith all the questionable expenditures approved and many times instituted by the boy king and his Nazi legal advisor a professional audit is probably what it will take to unravel the twists and turns used in keeping or should I say creating the accounting ledgers of this administration.
A pure novel of fiction I'm sure!
I just hope the paper trail leads to the UC jail for all of Nicks band of thieves!

ReplyDeleteThe only thing fishy in the town of ulster is Zweben's bitch's crotch!
THe guy is a thief in lawyers clothing!

ReplyDeleteWhy does Michael Bloomberg want to be Mayor of New York City again, with his billions does he really need the $1 a year he gets as salary. Sometime guys just want to right a wrong, and maybe give a little back to those less fortunate.
Maybe he just got sick and tired of the bull that this 'boy king', (I like the label, thanks 1:30 PM),has been shoveling around our town, maybe he just doesn't like the fact that Nicks sold us out to the likes of a-holes like Aaron, Zweben, Spada, Oliveri and that gonif Ozzie Bichkert.
These are just a few of the 'good men'(LOL) that have supported this pompous ass of a supervisor we've all had enough.
Oh by the way I've been told that the rats are beginning to abandon ship, it's going around that Spada and Aaron have pulled their $'s from Nicks campaign, too little too late if you ask me.
I'm sure that jim Q's phone will be ringing off the hook with calls from both of them, I hope he hangs up in their face and tells them about that garbage barge they can take down shit creek. I hope there is a shortage of paddles at Kennco.
