Funny Quote of the Day

In the Kingston Sunday Freeman today, there was a feature story about the upcoming Alderman-at-Large election and it featured information on both Council President Noble and Alderman Walker. Walker made me laugh out loud when he compared himself to NY Governor Elliot Spitzer. Now really, is he serious???? That would be like me comparing this blog to that of the Huffington Post. Alderman Walker really needs a reality check..hopefully by voters this September and again in November.

"I consider myself like (Gov.) Eliot Spitzer," Walker said. "If I have to ruffle some feathers, then I will ruffle some feathers. ... People know me as a person who gets things done. The council needs to be a check on the mayor's office."

Alderman Lenny Walker (R-3)

Lenny says he'll ruffle feathers if he needs to. Eliot Spitzer, to his credit, built his political career on doing just that. Lenny has already mussed some poultry feathers by the comments in this blog.

With all due respect to Mr. Noble, he did not address the crime issue when citizens petitioned their elected officials to add police to our over-burdened police dept. Mr. Noble has said and done very little in his position as Alderman -at-large and Council President.

If the rumors are true and he has been paid as a plumber by the City of Kingston to replace or repair City toilets on City Property, this can be construed as a conflict of interest to say the least. How could the President of the Common Council oversee the Mayor who is signing off on his invoices?

This City has run too long from an "old boys' club" mentality. Properties have been sold to "associates" at incredibly low bids. The City has built and supported the building of "affordable housing", now Chief Keller tells us it's not good to concentrate large numbers of subsidized housing in given areas. There is a disconnect within this Administration with many issues, with priorities and with the taxpayers. A lot of us are getting very tired of the unending spin, which has produced little tangible, positive results.

For the record, Lenny Walker has a very well paying job in the private sector. He is responsible, hard-working, has real management experience, his job is to manage a large work force that what he gets paid big bucks to do. He has stood up for what he believes in time after time, even when it has caused a backlash of ridicule and insult. He listens to residents and he takes action where he can. He's rolled up his shirtsleeves for years and done the dirty work. He has earned the respect of many residents, who are judging actions and results, not diction and vocabulary.

Get used to it. Lenny Walker, Alderman-At-Large.

I'm voting for Lenny!

What's wrong with what Lenny said?? Spitzer has a reputation for taking the bull by the horns and battling entrenched politicians. Lenny wants to emulate that. I see nothing wrong with that.

He never said he was as good as or on the same level as Spitzer. He just said he tries to be like him. What's so funny about that??

The only thing Walker and Spitzer have in common are their huge members.

To 12:53 WOW!!! You really know your stuff, maybe you should be county exec??

To 11:56 pm. You know this from personal experience? Or are you just trying to be funny?

Why is it so hard to have any real discussion on this City? Why is there so much personal attack and plain stupid comments? Is there something in the water?

We are facing deadly serious problems, literally. This will be one of the most important elections in this City's recent history.

Your elected officials and public servants are quoting lowered crime stats while bullets are slicing across our streets. The Police Chief's answer is to PROFILE the poor and move them out, not any REAL plan for Law Enforcement. Friends are being given our assests at wholesale. Money is being lost on John Street STILL, while meters are UNUSED at Academy Green. We lost $1600 to $2000 on John so far. I don't know how much we are paying for the unused meters along Academy Green. Gangs are thriving, while our KPD has not added officers in 30 years. Our income level has qualified us for federal relief, because we are now a POOR City.

It is time for open discussion and cooperative action toward real solutions. This is not a Frat House election. This is your future.

To quote 7:55,

" Our income level has qualified us for federal relief, because we are now a POOR City. "

That's the main idea behind the progressives here. Especially our friends in Woodstock, who are behind most of the federal programs here in Kingston. It's time for a change in attitude.

Well I guess it's time for you poor folks to move then.Progressives don't take the federal dole like regressives do so if you don't like what you see,I suggest you move to a progressive area where they population has more intelligence and fewer people are leaching off the government.Your entire argument is necessitating your own departure from this area. When you're gone,so are the parasites, funny how that works! It's just like the mexican laborers flooding republican areas, there is no immigration problem in progressive areas, because we don't hire them, only lazy, greedy repugnants do.

Were you on some more intellegent progressive drugs when you wrote that post?
