Gordon Webb Passes on.

Gordon Webb passed away this morning after a long illness. I went and saw Gordon yesterday and he was in rough shape but amazingly in good spirits. I never agreed with Mr. Webb on this issues but he served a very vital role in the establishment of public access, and to the community. My heart goes out to him and his family.

Please do not post anything that is disrespectful, especially if they cannot add their name. Gordon had compassion for people and this city. Respect him for that at this time.

  8. I will miss my friend, Gordon. He was a man willing to stand up for what he believed in no matter what the odds.

I saw him a few days ago. He had lost a lot of weight and his strength was fading. But, just as he did when Jeremy visited him, he was positive and upbeat. That was his nature.

How did Webb help Kingston? To
    advance a negivive political adjenda?

I saw Mr. Webb rallying for the safety of our city in past months. He organized a Safest City Coalition to help make our community better for us and future generations. Amazing that as this man's life was ending he focused his energy, time & hopes on those of us who remain here.

First, Let me say I am sad when anyone dies and my wishes do go out to his family.... But let's do a rewind. Gordon Webb was a right
wing activist. So I can understand
how you felt about him..But the
'Safe City Coalition' was nothing more nothing less then a political
    front group for Cahill, Walker,
and the Blond. You can say what you want but I respect people who
HELP people WITHOUT a adjenda. So yes I am sad he is gone but I never heard him once offer a solution to a problem.

  12. If you think that, then you obviously did not know Gordon Webb. Gordon's only agenda was the City of Kingston. His Safest City Coalition was not a front group for me or anyone. Gordon had too much pride to be anyone's front man.

  13. I agree with Rich, agree with Gordon or not and I did NOT, he stood up for what he thought was right.

Regardless what your beliefs---If more people put their hearts and energy into our community the way Mr. Webb did...we'd all be MUCH better off!

I did know Mr. Webb I always though
he was crude at times with his comments.....But he had a uneducated adjenda.

By the Way Mr. Cahill I dont see
you and your merry bunch with your posters on Broadway anymore since the election is over. How can you
sir say that you did not try and cash in on the 'Safe City Party'?
You did and you know it. The election is over come clean. Dont
    lie to yourself.

It is funny to look over these comments and think that Gordon is up there smiling down thinking well it's good to "agree to disagree", But in retrospect what is wrong with the dream of making Henry St the safest street in Kingston? and the ripple effect of thus making Kingston the safest City in New York? As most of you know Gordon loved to debate so as the spinmasters continue their ever present assult on our fair City twisting reality to fit their own political aganda's, so to may the new upcoming generation of debaters/dreamers continue and carry on Gordons "main theme" one of a cleaner, safer, Kingston for our families our children and our neighborhoods. with all do respect to all political parties that in it's self is what Gordon lived for and stood for. As to should our own City/County officials join in his dream and strive for.

    Mr. Ryan,

As someone who voted for you twice
and as someone that wants to make our city as safe as can be I must
disagree with you it was Mr. Webb
was the one to put our city down.
He was the one to put down people
that were different then he was. He can say and think as he feels but so can the rest of us. Mr Ryan it would appear to me that you are educated and you know that Cahill and Company used the 'Safe Street'
idea that was used by Mr. Webb
    for Mr Cahill's Political Gain....
Please you of all people admit it.
to me he was hurtful but yet so is Cahill, Walker , Cosme... They are
people who I dont expect to care.
But I believe you are different

It is VERY SAD to read such NEGATIVE postings, about Mr. Gordon Webb. I happen to have know Mr. Gordon Webb. Gordon put a great deal back to this community, even if you agreed or disagreed, with his actions. He put all his HEART and ENERGY, to make the City of Kingston,& County of Ulster, a Better place to live, for our Future. I must admit that Gordon & I were NOT always on the same page, but I respected his opinion, and it was OK to disagree with him.

It is disturbing to read the NEGATIVE & disrespectful comments that have been posted on this BLOG, after Gordons passing. It is VERY CLEAR that the Negative writings did NOT know Mr.Webb.

FYI - Posting 7:11 AM - Mr Webb was very well educated. He Graduated from a GREAT School - St.John's University - Queens, NY

PLEASE - If you have nothing POSITIVE to say after someones passing. Leave it alone. It must be sad for Gordon's Friends and Family to read these NEGATIVE postings.

I visit the many BLOGs of this community, and THANK the folks (Bloggers) for there time and effort to educate the community of the many happings, here in Ulster County. I feel the Negative posting, of Gordon Webb are VERY uncalled for after his passing.

It is my hope you can take comfort in the love of Gordons friends and family during this sad time, and think fondly on the wonderful memories you have of your time with him.

May you rest in PEACE. GOD BLESS YOU!!!

  21. I am getting more than a little tired of the continued claim by one person --whom we all know-- that I used the Safest City Coalition or was pandering in some way.

I am going to clear this once and for all. Everything I said and did in my campaign was based on what I believe. I did not pander or sacrifice my true beliefs on anything.

I may have lost the election, but I would rather lose than be a hypocrite to my true beliefs.

    Well......There is still crime in
Kingston....Why dont you have a rally now??? In your friends memory?

Can you answer me on that?

The safest City coalition was established way before the elections came around so if you think that is the reason Gordon started it your way off coarse it was his dream and his goal to have Kingston named the safest city in New York and he believed in the people of this City wanted this as much as he did he was to proud to be anyone's political puppet.

OK So it would be fair to say you
will have another 'rally' this year
and you will not be holding 'political' placards?

Like you did the weekend before the election?

  25. I would be happy to help schedule and hold one of the rallies. Gordon's dream was Kingston being the safest city. I think it's a dream worth continuing.

10:58 have a little respect. The fact that you did not agree with his political ideology does not make him worthy of venom now that he is gone. Whether you agreed with what hwe said or not, I think he had the good of the area in his heart. I beleive he forced us to look at ourselves. Whether we liked what we saw or not is not political.

Why did you have the political placards at the rally? If it was not for your gain?
