Julian's Candidacy

For three years I have wanted Julian to resign as Chairman of the Ulster County Democratic Committee so I certainly am not going to attack him for doing so now. Yes, it is crazy that Julian would resign and run for Congress without first waiting what Congressional district he will be in but so be it. To be honest, I have a new respect for Julian Schreibman let him run and follow his dream.

For Congress I could support : Cahill, Ahouse, and Hein.. anyone of those three would be great to represent us in Congress.

Hey I am not complaining either. He was an absent do nothing Dem chair and made the situation worse as attested to by the miserable results in our local and county government. But, I never saw this coming and what does this say about his ego. It must be limitless. An election for this District will cost at least $250K minimum especially since no one is giving him the nomination. he couldn't raise $12K four years ago. Not much has changed since then except he works full time outside the District. Also, that $ number at least doubles if the district disappears and he is going against an incumbant.

He played hookie beautifully. Some crooked democrats got tossed for good reason. Julian may not be known for much here but the Clinton admin. knows him. Times were good then. Most people would gladly return to them. No baggage, no problem. He better start buying Carhart (sp?) clothes for his tour of the western region though. Maybe an old pickup truck too.

All of yous seem to be forgetting the weighted Democratic enrollment is in the western part of the 22nd C.D. There are democratic elected officials out that way also interested in the position. At the very least, you're going to see a primary.

Who would you rather have served as Chair?

Julian was not an absent Chair. He does not work full time out of the district. Under his leadership members of the Executive Committee of the UCDC were treated with respect. Always approachable, Julian encouraged input. He worked tirelessly to build consensus and promote Democratic principles.

the only problem,he has been a loser. How can a Dem lose in Ulster County? Ask Julian,he turned winners into losers. The next leader of his party has an impossible task to overcome. No one to blame except Julian. period

Julian was a separatist. He excelled at dividing the Committee between those who agreed with him and his wife and those who did not. He purposely excluded candidates from financial support, costing the county the Legislature.
He was never, ever around. As for fund raising, he couldn't raise car fare if his life depended on it. If it weren't for the UCDW and the new young guns, he would have been completely lost.

Good Luck Julian, you will need it.

Julian was in no way a separatist. The separatists were those who made no attempt to work with him from the onset of his tenure as Chair.

Wow. Some real curmudgeons here. These "young guns" are the heir apparent to the throne. The old guard is on life support. Pull the plug already. This wheezing and gasping is yesterday's rotten stench.
