Indy Party Pay To Play????

Fawn Tantillo the Independence, Republican and Conservative candidate for Comptroller sure does not know how to make friends. In this last week she has upset the entire Republican committee by endorsing Democrat Andrew Cuomo for Governor..(if you remember from my earlier post, Tantillo has no allegiance to the GOP, she left them along time ago and came back when she needed them and they foolishly gave her their line) I hear Chairman Catalano, who I respect a great deal, is not too happy about all of this and let his feelings be known to Fawn..good for him. Expect a lot of Republicans to sit on their hands and let Tantillo self destruct.

On a bigger level Fawn Tantillo, who is the newly minted 101st state committeewoman for the Independence party (how convenient) went and overturned the will of her own committee by using her weighted votes to vote for Peter Ronney over the Indy's endorsed candidate Kevin Cahill. She then blocked an effort to allow Assemblyman Cahill the opportunity to be in a primary. Here is Fawn Tantillo, a member of the Independence party, saying that her fellow Independence party members should not be allowed to have a choice. Are you kidding me??? It should be noted that Fawn Tantillo ran against Kevin Cahill for Assembly and was destroyed by more than ten thousand votes.

Why did Fawn do this? Well I'm not saying it was pay to play but.....

Two weeks before she went and stabbed her fellow party members in the back she received a $500 check from Peter Rooney. So will that be the going rate of doing business in the Comptroller's office under Tantillo? Tantillo needs to return that money or drop out of the race. You can't have corruption or any sort of pay to play in county government, especially in the Comptroller's office, Elliott Auerbach is the People's Watchdog..all Fawn watches out for is herself.

Is it true she's hiding a 10 pound bag of potatoes in her ass??

What do you expect? The whole Independence party is nothing but a bunch of misfits anyway. Fawn took a political bribe and threw her own party under the bus. Just what we need, a corrupt candidate before they are even in office.

She's on the take and she is not even in office yet? She makes Al Spada look like a boy scout. This woman has no business being in this race. Someone should call Holly "go lightly" Carnright about this.

By Fawn blocking a primary, she's telling everyone that they know Kevin would win in a primary. Sadly, she's also telling everyone that she doesn't believe in democracy. How can anyone think of supporting someone who has so much - too much - weight to push around?

I'm looking over the list of contributors. Where's Len Bernardo's contribution? Isn't he the chair of the party? He should be donating personally, and the party should also be donating. What a sham. I remember last year (June 2009) when he held that fundraiser at Holiday Inn ($75/person)? He raised over $8000. Interestingly, there are no expenses. He distributed none of it. Why is he raising money and not giving it to any of the candidates?

Fawn of the dead had no chance to begin with. She just made it even harder.

Catalano should pass the word (like he did with Bernardo), that he is not going to do squat for her. She earned that.

Complete f*ck#ng morons, all of them.

http://www.midhudsonnews.com/News/2010/July/21/Cuomo_UC_GOP-21Jul10.htm

Don't tell me they did not know what was going on, bullsh@t!

Len Bernardo should mind his own f$ck#ng business and go back to chasing roller skating queens.

How coincidental 7:05, Al Spada is Hudson Valley Advertising, Inc. the FIRST donor on your list!

Anonymous said...

I agree with 7:03, the Independence party is a bunch of misfits lead by the biggest,Len Bernardo! This guy fashions himself to be a mover and a shaker but really most people I know in politics thinks he is an asshole! Dont kid yourself, he pushed to have some of these republican politicians show up at Cuomo function, where Bernardo mislead the republicans to think they were coming to listen and here Cuomo's agenda. Next thing they knew, that asshole sent the list to Cuomo"s camp siting them as "supporters" of his agenda, which is the furtherest from the truth. Bernardo duped the Cuomo camp as well as the republican elected officials and he needs to answer for that! He is a fuck-up and he needs to go.

Peter Rooney bought his first vote with his $500 contribution to Fawn. Those are the ethics we can expect from him should he get elected to the Assembly. The man obviously has no integrity.

Anonymous said...

Oh boo hoo!! Kevin Cahill was telling everyone he had bought the Ind line. Looks like Kevin's payoff to Bernardo was not enough.

BTW, Tantillo did not endorse Cuomo and neither did most of the Rep's mentiond in the paper. Spada did but he's become a Dem anyway.

Kevin Cahill is not a member of the Independence Party.

Would you as a Dem Committeemen vote to allow a non-party member to primary? You voted against Bradley being allowed to run in primary did you not???? Hmmmmmmm???

Anonymous said...

Please, you are grasping at thin air. Unless you can tie the two together with a conversation that they were tied together, and you haven't, then you need to shut your mouth. If you are going to start questioning campaign donations and the motivation for them, with no evidence whatsoever, t0hen maybe we should start looking at Auerbach's donors....oh right he doesn't have any. And, btw, plenty of Republicans have already endorsed Cuomo with many more to come....it is a smart move when the Republicans cannot field a candidate that has any chance of winning. Cahill does not deserve any endorsements, he is a huge part of the problem....he is Silver shadow and that helps no one in upstate New york.

Democrats voted to prevent Vince Bradley from running a primary. You did too, Jeremy.

This is from your own blog entry:

"The Case Against Bradley :

Now, I am firmly against letting Vincent Bradley Jr. run in a Democratic primary. Not because of my support for Jon Sennett or my personal feelings for Vincent Bradley (I actually like Vince a lot, and thinks he is a great guy) but because of the precedent that it sets. I don't think it's a very good precedent to allow a non democrat to run when we have a Democratic Candidate. On June 4th, the Ulster County Democratic Committee got together and voted for 31/2 hours on a candidate and we choose Jonathan Sennett, a well qualified candidate to run for the office of District Attorney. Now, the role of the Ulster County Democratic Committee and it's executive board is to elect Democrats. A primary will force our candidate to use his financial resources now, and diminish the amount of money he will have to use against his GOP challenger. Now, some will say well Julian Schriebman is going to primary so what's the difference? The difference is we are not condoning it. By allowing Vince Bradley to primary we are saying that a primary is o.k. and I think that is the wrong message to send. It's also a slap in the face to every committee person who gave up their time to come to the convention."

Should have endorsed McDonough, a no nonsense candidate. I was not pleased with Tantillo coming to the republican party looking for a handout. She will not have my vote. Which means the race will probably go to Auerbach, unfortunately. Her stance on the race for governor really was quite surprising. I am not a fan of Lazio but neither am I of Cuomo. She is coming across as an opportunist and not the type of person you want watching the books.

6:44, this might not be the place for that type of comment but it was funny.

Whats with the report showing Rep Com of shawangunk $500 Did they give Rooney and Goodwin $500 they are the Rep candidates, or is Rasco getting a little(well a lot with her) all potatoes

Are you kidding me? This is your smoking gun of pay to play. I guess we should do full blown investigations of every candidates endorsements based on the political donations they have received. For someone who works for a political party exercising their own, well documented, questionable political fundraising games, you sure throw a lot of completely unfounded accusations around.

About 100 days out, Fawn has raised less than $4,000 for a campaign for county-wide office? Even with three ballot lines, that doesn't seem like shes a very serious candidate.

Unknown said...

Logically a candidate should have to give up their committee position. Even if it is only temporary. But then again logic tends to not penetrate politics.

I guess he should have stuck to taking out full page newspaper ads for her the weekend before the election.

whats a matter Lenny and Squiggy won't let you post the responses

You folks like to bash Fawn because you suck up to the Hein administration. Skew the facts to keep your boys in. You need to man up and talk with her face to face instead of smearing her.

Anonymous said...

Jeremy... does this mean you are no long sucking up to Len Bernardo?

Posted on Rich Cahill's blog re: Rooney's Independence party line mockery. He will not publish it.

If these were federal charges and not state charges, you know he would be facing a Felony for what was in there.( Class 1.3G or maybe even class 1.2G Fireworks)

To say that you are not aware of Rooney's exclusive, black tie, 4th of July extravaganza is ridiculous. Every Republican in Ulster County knows about it.

As far as an employee stashing them there? Come on Rich, you know better than that. His corporation has 2 officers, him and his wife. One of them is responsible. He can be an immoral jackass and blame his wife or be a man and take the rap that is rightfully his.

You still haven't commented on his positions on Abortion and Gay marriage. You know he supports them both.

I dare you to post this Rich. Or are all of these truths too much for you to put out there for the public to see.

8:33 - there is no parallel between the Democrats refusing to allow a primary and the Ind. primary. The committee convened and voted for Sennett, but Bradley was not a Dem. A Wilson-Pakula was necessary to issue to Bradley to allow a primary. If you're going to endorse a candidate in your party, why would you turn around and then allow a primary by someone who isn't even in the party? In the Indy party case, the committee is comprised of 3 people: Bernardo, Fawn, and Cindy Wadnola. Neither Rooney nor Cahill are Independents, so they only issued the Wilson-Pakula to Rooney. They had to issue it to someone, but they could've issued it to both and allowed the primary. Fawn shut it down - she received $500 from Rooney.

Is it true that Fawn is the book-keeper for the Port Ewen Fire Dept?

That is why he has a corporation (in his wife's name, so that he doesn't have to be responsible for anything he does.

How do you think Albany Legislators legally funnel money back to themselves? Seems to me Rooney will fit in just fine in Albany.

"Pay to play" is routine for the NY Independence party.

For two elections in a row, the state Independence Party endorsed a Republican candidate who hired a political consultant with close ties to party Chairman Frank MacKay, campaign records show. Harry Wilson, the GOP comptroller contender, paid the Roosevelt Strategy Group $10,000 on June 11, six days after winning the party's endorsement over Democratic incumbent Tom DiNapoli, the records show. In 2006, Jeanine Pirro also hired the Roosevelt Group when she ran for attorney general on the Republican line and was backed by the Independence Party. Her total tab came to $100,000.
