Jail Report Released

The jail report was released today and I picked up a copy and went into an informational meeting on the findings this evening. I'm in the process of looking through the documents and I'll report more on it later this week. I think we have to really applaud Tracey Bartels, Robert T. Aiello, Richard Parete , and Frank Felicello who spent tireless hours on this report and did so in a bipartisan manner.

It's my understanding that the legislature is going to request that the D.A. launch a criminal investigation. Julian Schreibman, a senior investigator in the Ulster D.A.'s office, that was assigned to oversee the jail investigation, was at the informational meeting and was in regular contact with the legislature throughout this process....so stay tuned.

3:23 - There are enough reasons NOT to vote for Bradley without using innuendo and unsubstantiated rumors. I've never heard anything about any "problem with women." Please stick to the facts.

Jeremy, You're at it again. The 3:23 post that you have published is nothing but ugly inuendo. But you choose to participate in it.

What we really need is the "truth" from someone named anonymous.

This post is and your blog has become, feces.

You are now participating in the lowest form of politics. Everything else I have to say, you surely wouldn't post.

Anonymous said...

This is a fact and Vincent knows exactly what I'm talking about! I never would of said a word but he's running for the most powerful office in the county. The people have the right to know. I hope Bradley will man up and admit what happened.

Anonymous said...

Will people that post here please grow up. This is becoming a reprise of the old Freeman commentary site circa late 90's where anonymous contributors could espouse anything without proof and flame one another.

Since the administrator of this blog elects to post anonymous unsubstantiated defamation, he may very well be found accountable for that defamation.

Sounds like an excellent test case to me. Unquestionably, a blog administrator is 100% in control of what appears in his/her blog. Therefore, does he/she assume legal responsibility for such cowardly, despicable posts?

Inquiring minds...remember the Duke case.....there is no good in digging up a he said she said that happened awhile ago.

So now the DA will investigate after three years and after the legislature had to beg him to. He clearly has no idea what he is doing...he is supposed to be the one deciding what gets investigated and should be doing it behind closed doors without input or direction from anyone...especially politicians that are running all running for office save Bartels.

Anonymous said...

once again GROW UP!!!! come nov. we will see who is going to be D.A.! CARNRIGHT!!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

The Duke case is a poor example of "he said - she said". In that case, the dancer accused three men of a felony, and it was determined to be an over-zealous prosecutor that ignored the exculpatory evidence so the charges were dropped. Conversely, Anita Hill testifying before the Senate about Clarence Thomas for his confirmation to the Supreme Court was a "he said - she said". Sometimes, what happened several years ago is very relevant to today. If this allegation about Vince Bradley has any truth to it, it should be disclosed - but I have a funny feeling that it's just thrown out there by a Sennett or Carnright supporter to start a rumor. (I'm a Sennett supporter - and believe me, I would love nothing more than dirt on Bradley, but unfortunately I don't think there is anything other than he does not have the experience that Sennett and Carnright have.)

Anonymous said...

Is that Don Williams or Frank the D.A.'s other personality?

Anonymous said...

I'm leaning toward Sennett but have not ruled out Holley or Bradley yet. Sennett seems like he has it together. One thing is sure I will be happy on Jan 1st when Donny Williams is gone!

Anonymous said...

That picture looks like that's Frank.

Sincerely,

Someone who knows!

Anonymous said...

To be very FRANK with you, I've dealt with our current D.A. for a number of years and he is awful. Full of himself and as cocky as they come. I was supporting my friend Julian but now I don't care who is there...they can elect a monkey and we will have a better leader.

Carnright prosecuted cases 25 years ago. He does not have any computer or technical skills that are necessary in today's district attorney's office. He believes nothing needs to change in the office. Rip Van Winkle has woken up from his long nap.

Anonymous said...

Carnright is a great guy - you're right about his office and computer skils not being up-to-date. But, Carnright has been a defense attorney since he left the DAs office, and this gives him - and Sennett - a huge advantage over the Conservative candidate who only knows how to shuffle paper. His courtroom experience is minimal, and he's only prosecuted white-collar crimes (he was in the Labor and Racketeering Unit in Morgenthau's office - I can't understand why a union would endorse him). He's never prosecuted (or defended) any street crimes - he knows nothing about how to prosecute those. His supporters will tell you that it doesn't matter, as if he could prosecute anything or his assistants could do it. But, if his assistants need assistance, like picking a jury and how to handle evidence, he'd have no clue how to help win a conviction. This county (and especially Kingston) would be in big trouble if he won. Fortunately, it'll be either Sennett or Carnright - we can't go wrong with either one.

Anonymous said...

Well, better watch what you wish for because if Bradley somehow gets elected we really will have a monkey in charge!

Anonymous said...

...don't insult monkeys!

Anonymous said...

Too funny! Keep it up. Willliams is a good guy though, I have worked with him and he is always a gentleman. Did you know Rich Cahill Jr., called Donny Williams about your blog? He's a scumbag, regarded as a bottom feeder in the legal community. Peace, and keep up the good work. Give 'em Hell Harry as a Dem would tell you.

Anonymous said...

Upon seeing how all of this has played out, I bet a lot of conservatives (and all 5 independents) are incensed that Bradley wears their banner. Those who endorsed him did so as part of a political pact with Spada, not because he was qualified. After seeing and hearing the DA candidates present, how could anyone in their right mind endorse such a dud?

Anonymous said...

10:55 - More specifically...there was a deal with Spada and the Conservatives, and he almost worked a deal with the Republicans. The deal with the Independence party was cut between Parete and Dietrich Wormer, neither of whom is the sharpest knife in the drawer, but both of whom are petty, closed-door liars and cheats.

Anonymous said...

I know Rich Cahill and he is no scumbag. I have practiced law in this community for over 20 years. Rich is a good young lawyer with a bright future.

You should be ashamed of yourself saying such terrible things.

Anonymous said...

Let me get this straight...Bradley was involved in a plan to become a Republican candidate?

The man who accused others of making an "unethical" deal?

We need a prosecutor in the DA's office, NOT a politician. Sorry Al.

Anonymous said...

Skills honed in the court room come from experience not from a computer or the ability to use technology. The ability to argue in front of a judge and jury comes from experience not from a computer.

Are we electing a TRIAL ATTORNEY for DA or hiring the head of the IT Depatment for the DA's Office?

Hopefully the citizens of Ulster County recognize the importance of good old fashion brain power used to build EXPERIENCE.

Holley all the way.

What's with the deletions?

Anonymous said...

to 9:43 p.m.: you don't know what you are talking about. I p-ersonally served on a jury for a murder Carnright defended & Williams prosecuted.

Anonymous said...

9:41 - what does your service as a juror have to do with Bradley? You didn't say anything about the case and who won or who lost and why. Carnright and Sennett have prosecuted and defended street crimes where there is a victim - Bradley hasn't. They also have dealt with forensics (blood samples, fingerprints, hair samples, DNA, shell casings, etc.) and Bradley hasn't. I didn't denigrate Williams (who prosecuted a murder case on which I served as a juror) or Carnright. Williams, Carnright, and Sennett all have the necessary experience to be the DA of Ulster County. This county would be in terrible shape with Bradley at the helm. Ask his supporters why they're backing Bradley - not one will tell you of his vast experience or ability - it's all because of friends and family - poor reasons to vote for him.

if Clint Brown was D.A., we wouldn't be having these stupid conversations.

Clint for DA!!

Don't worry about Bradley winning, he won't even score 20% in the election. What he might do, though, is take away enough votes to put a docile, snoozing, Andy Griffith candidate in the office. What a shame. Bradley should go back to the city.

The prospect of a DA Sennett scares a lot of people. Enough to back this sham candidate Bradley. What are they afraid of? Warranted investigations? Perhaps people who currently live in big houses will themselves be moving into the "big house">

This kind of nasty election happened a few years ago in Albany County, and luckily, the progressive, (NOT a bad word, folks), candidate (David Soares) was able to fend off the hand-picked Corning-Whalen-Jennings machine candidate (which Bradley is now). You might be reading about all the good work Mr. Soares is doing in Albany County these days, cleaning up police corruption, as well as making National headlines busting a large mail-order steroid operation.

Wise up, people. Don't fall for it. Don't vote for Bradley. Vote for progressive change.

ol' Red, Esq.

I think 1:47 hit the nail on the head - those who are supporting Bradley need him to protect them and turn a blind eye to their shenanigans. They're afraid that Sennett is too honest.

you need to remove 3:39 & 3:57 because these posts allow others to figure out what 3:23 is all about....or is that why you left them?

Not having computer skills is both an impediment to developing a team, streamlining proceedures and tracking case. Not knowing about computers in this day and age is a signal that the person has not made the effort to learn about technology. It is not a matter of relying on the "IT" department. It is an understanding of modern way of life.

Holley is a nice guy. Where is the fire in his belly to learn and lead?

Anonymous said...

Some of Holley's cases as Chief Assistant DA in ULSTER County: 1. A man zips a woman up in a body bag while she's still alive and throws her into Cooper Lake. Conviction for murder. 2. Another man chops up his girlfriend with a machete. Conviction for murder.
Do you think Sennett or Bradley are prepared to talk to a murder victim's family and explain the criminal justice process to them ? A victim's family wants to feel comfortable and confident that their case is being handled by someone with experience. Do you think they have the compassion to hold a victim's hand while she speaks in open court at sentencing. Think of the experience it takes to be the DA of Ulster County. Neither Jon nor Vince are prepared for this. Protect the victims of Ulster County.

Anonymous said...

Give me a break...Carnright has not prosecuted a case in over 30 years. Sennett and Bradley are hands above Carnright, he might as well pack up his ball and go home. If Carnright is elected he will sit at Williams' desk and there will be no change at all.

Anonymous said...

Of the three, Bradley is the least qualified. I give Carnright credit for his experience and compassion; Jon has experience and knowledge to get convictions, implement crime prevention programs, and bring the DAs office into the 21st century.

To anonymous 5:36

The truth is out there...

Anonymous said...

Where can we find it?

Anonymous said...

Remember Sennett worked in the Bronx as a prosecutor IN THIS CENTURY and handled his share of tough cases.

Anonymous said...

DEFINE "TOUGH" CASES. I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT SENNETT DID NOT HANDLE ANY INTENTIONAL MURDER CASES AS A PROSECUTOR YET HOLLEY HAS HANDLED AT LEAST A DOZEN. BRADLEY HAS HANDLED, WELL, ZERO CASES INVOLVING A VICTIM. BY THE WAY, GUY VELELLA, BRADLEY'S CLAIM TO FAME, WALKED AWAY WITH A MISDEMEANOR AFTER STEALING 650K ON BRADLEY'S WATCH. OH, AND BRADLEY DID NOT TELL ANYONE THAT HE WAS JUST ONE OF 6 A.D.A.'S THAT LET THIS POLITICIAN WALK AWAY WITH A MISDEMEANOR. VOTERS NEED TO BE INFORMED.

Anonymous said...

Carnright has done 2 homicides over 30 years ago. Carnright is the same candidate that says there is no need to be proactive in fighting crime and that there is no need to update the D.A.'s office to the 21st century. The guy has the wrong mantality to be our d.a.

Anonymous said...

Exactly what do you mean by "proactive?" ADA's don't arrest people. Further, what do you have in mind in terms of "updating" the DA's office ? Who's gonna pay for all this ?

Anonymous said...

9:39 = A proactive DAs office would get grants (and perhaps money from the County's budget) to implement crime-prevention programs, which in the long run saves taxpayers money. It's great to just wait for the crimes to happen and then prosecute, but when you're a victim, it would've been better if the crime could've been prevented. As a high school teacher, I had a student who was identified (by me) many years prior as having potential problems (cruelty to animals) and nothing was done. Guess where he is now? You got it - state prison for rape. The law enforcement agencies were aware of it, but never told the school - I notified the school administrators (after other students told me), but there weren't (and still aren't) programs in place to do anything about it (in the schools or in the county). So, you must be a conservative to only be concerned what it's going to cost you now, rather than the millions it costs in prosecuting and housing criminals in the future. As far as updating the DAs office, I'm not knowledgable enough to answer - I can only guess that a lack of access to information would impede an investigation and prosecution.
