Comptroller Elect

Auerbach Wins Comptroller Race!!!!

The people of Ulster County have elected Elliott Auerbach to be their first County Comptroller. I can't tell you how happy I am, Elliott is going to be an excellent Comptroller and will make this county proud!

I also think that a tremendous amount of credit should be given to Jim Quigley, who ran a great campaign and is a true gentleman. We had our disagreements but I have the utmost respect for the guy.

Congrats, do you think Eliot would approve a department head buying a pen for $60.00.

John Tuey did.

Comptroller-elect

It looks like Elliott Auerbach of Ellenville has emerged victorious over Jim Quigley of Kingston in the contest to be Ulster County's first elected comptroller.

The best part about this race was that county residents couldn't lose.

Although we believed Quigley had much better credentials for the job, that didn't mean we were unimpressed with Auerbach. On the contrary, both men struck us as solid citizens and fully capable of taking on the challenges of this new position.

Auerbach has long been one of the Freeman's most loyal readers and biggest boosters in his part of Ulster County. Thus, he likely was more than just a little bit disappointed when our editorial page endorsement went to his opponent.

But now that he has the job - presuming no last-minute recount shocker - let the record show that he has our full confidence.

I hear the best news to come out of the comptrollers race being decided was your blog was being shut down. Thank GOD

Freeman backpedals fast. If they loved Elliot so much why did they keep on running that unflattering photo?

I second that.

Jeremy,

Don't let your blog end on that negative note from 8:58. You have a leg up on so many people and are well-liked by all with the exception of a few jerks who aren't happy with themselves. I enjoy your blog and look--you got a county lawmaker, the Freeman publisher and tons of others who respond here so, "don't give up the fight" as Bob Marley wrote.

Good luck Jeremy.

I hope he puts some control on Hein who already spent $ 600K on unnecessary office and hired a third deputy - taxpayers watch out.

What unflattering picture? I saw a nice picture of him on their Internet page.
