Kingston Times

I encourage everyone to go out and buy a copy of this weeks Kingston Times, has some great stories on the race for Kingston Mayor in there.

Here is an excerpt on an editorial written by Dan Barton that gives an interesting prospective on the Gallo v. Clement race :

"Look at it another way, Clement, like your new friend, emphasizes the great things about you and focuses on where you’re going from here. Gallo, like the friend you’ve known all your life, acknowledges the great, but knows all about your buried bodies and has the moral authority to call you on your BS."

I am sure Clement does not need your help. He is an intelligent man and will do his homework.

If you combine all of the traits of the mayoral candidates we could have a great Mayor. Here they are:

1. The appearance of intelligence of Clement with an advanced degree,2)the tenacity and passion of Turco-Levine,3) the sense of approachability & conservative spending of Polacco, 4)the legal minds of Cahill and Gallo who brings nostalgia too ; how could we not lose? We need all of those factors in a Mayor.
In a perfect world.......

advanced degree, Gallo went to law school and graduate school, he's no dummy. I like Hayes too though, good guy.

yes, gallo has an advanced degree but has not worked in business or had his own business like Hayes or the other candidates have had. That can make a difference in someone able to do the Mayor's job which is a necessary requirement. If one has always worked in government he /she misses the reality of everybody else in the private sector. They have been insulated against what the voter has had to deal with. We don't get automated raises, paid pension funds, paid healthcare etc.....and we can get fired without any recourse.

Gallo is a private attorney with the law firm of George Redder and has absolutly worked in the private health care field. What expericince in jobs did Hayes have? He sells ads for Tennis magazine and did the same for HBO, give me a break. Hayes is inflating his resume and no one is buying it.

What buisness has Hayes owned or run? None.

Hayes has owned businesses in his life. In fact, he was featured in a recent book called "Rise of the Creative Class"

It seems he's actually left quite a bit off his resume...

Shayne runs his own business. It' is called being a solo practitioner. Like most solo legal practitioners, he takes some government work. Try to find a successful legal practitioner who does not take assigned counsel cases, trust and estate appointments or property foreclosures from the courts. Its how the legal business works.

There is only one candidate in this race who is qualified and prepared to be mayor.

Intelligent, very well educated, experienced in city government, tenacity and passionate, tireless, committed, etc. etc.

I hear Shayne also plays tennis and has watched cable television.

Hayes has worked in a business in the private sector. Not a government run entity. Never said he owned a business. Obviously he was successful as rumors tout him as being wealthy.
If you accuse Hayes of inflating resume perhaps one needs to disbelieve that Gallo is not running on his brother's legacy?? (His quote) Yeah, right.... The campaign has only begun.

Hayes' father is well connected. Never count ones weath with personal success and experiance. I am undecided on this race but the more I research Hayes, the more questions I have...just sayin'

"Rumors tout him as being wealthy". That is the basis of your belief that he is and has been successful? Are you kidding me! I don't know about you, but I know plenty of people who are wealthy and didn't earn a dime of it and are also far from successful people. Wake up. This guy is touting his business acumen without so much as one iota of evidence or anyone that has worked with him or for him to support his claims. He talks about being a consultant now...well I need more. What are you consulting your clients on? Who are your clients? How often do you work for them? What type of work do they do? Be very very careful of what you buy from this guy without learning the real story. His story is clearly lacking in specifics. Remember, if he gets in there we are stuck with him and we are in bad enough shape already. At least with Gallo, you know what good bad and ugly you are getting. Yes it has some warts, and who doesn't, but we know what they are and I for one can live with them.

10:11: you can always vote for a republican. Polacco? Turco-Levine?
Cahill? Don't always stick to a democrat. They haven't done too much in the last several years except to bring us more debt.Don't know about you but I am ready for a real change.
