This is really an important brain storming session that I encourage all Democrats to attend. We need to get our act together so that together we can take the office of County Executive and help to elect Democrats county wide and beyond. More importantly to heal our party.
See you there!

Thanks for this opportunity and I hope this will be well attended and help in the healing process.

We need unity and some fresh new faces to bring that about. We need to end the petty clique infighting and be mature enough to realize that our primary purpose is public service and the common good, not our individual spot on the power grid. A little humility here on all our parts ,including myself , will go a long way toward making being a Democrat and a party activist an enjoyable and rewarding experience...smitty

Don't be fooled by the shiny post card. This is being orchestrated by the people whose sole purpose and focus is to get rid of John Parete. I predict these will be your speakers.

Phil Schacter
Mike Harkavey
Sue Zimet
Hector Rodriguez
Dave Donaldson
Gary Bischoff
Ralph Childers

Parete haters one and all.

It is no more about unity than it is about selling girl scout cookies. Remember the fund raiser for "Democratic Candidates" just before election day? Same people.

By the way, who all got money from that event? What Democratic candidates got one cent? Did anyone get anything?

Jeremy, be a man. Post this reply. People need to hear both sides.

This is a great idea. Hope as many of my fellow Democrats come out.
We need to focus on the future of our Party. For me I dont want to blame anyone just lets all move foward. Being a Ulster County Democrat has always been a great honor for me..If anyone need a ride from Kingston let me know

What is there to like about Parete? He admits the party is broke and doesn't know anything about computer assisted election returns.

Not to mention he circumvented the party by backing a CONSERVATIVE candidate for District Attorney. This loss for the Democrats rests solely on his shoulders.

Give him the boot.

Jeremy, Kevin Cahill supported Sennett??!! Please....stop the idolatry. To the second poster, I hope you're wrong...getting rid of Parete won't solve the party's problems. And, as far as "who got the money?" - Sheeley and Stoekler each got $1000 and they in turn gave a handsome donation to Bradley. Zatz and Hunter got $333.33 each (whoever was the 3rd candidate in the district got the same - they split $1000). Loughran and Donaldson got $125 each. Whom do you think is going to support Parete and in turn support Jeanette? It's a no-brainer! Why should anybody love Parete?

Cahill DID NOT really support Sennett. He allowed Bradley to speak at his fundraiser.

If he did support Sennett, he should have had a fundraiser for him.

In the last six months, he has shown a remarkable lack of leadership.

Why does it matter who sends the invite. The forum is needed, the discussion must take place, the sooner the better. The predictions regarding the roster of speakers will only be accurate if others stay away and do not speak their minds.

The divisions within the party now seem greater than those that separate the democrats from the republicans.

It is sad to see people accusing others of being "Parete haters". It is time to put the accusations and the hatred to bed, time to recognize the common purpose and the shared interests and agendas.

I second the remarks above. Thanks to whoever organized the forum. Thanks for the hospitality and the opportunity to try to find common ground and a solution before the 2008 election slips away.

Cahill did support Sennett...I take offence to people that continue to attack our Assemblyman... could he have done more? Sure, we all could have, myself included. Cahill did the same as he did for Van Blarcum. Kevin Cahill's a good Democrat.

To poster at 9:52:

You are talking about the money the UCDCC handed out through grant applications that was distributed based on need.

What happened to the loot from the Schacter sponsored October fund raiser in Highland. That fund raiser advertised that it was to solicit funds that were to benefit "County Democratic candidates".
Where is that money? Was it falsely advertised as to who would benefit? Who got that money?

Until they come clean and tell the truth about that fund raiser, I see no reason to believe that this meeting is anything more than a meeting to set in motion the removal of John Parete, like the October fund raiser was.

99% of the agenda will be "this is what Parete does wrong", 1% will be on rebuilding ---- after Parete is gone.

They may be fooling some of you, but they are not fooling me.

Anonymous 7:52 has the following to say:
"sole purpose and focus is to get rid of John Parete. I predict these will be your speakers."...

........"Ralph Childers

Parete haters one and all."

I can only speak for myself, but what I hate is poor leadership that doesn't follow sound democratic principles fostering transparency and accountability, especially in something as important as politics.
Anonymous 7:52 goes on to say:
"It is no more about unity than it is about selling girl scout cookies."
I didn't see the term "unity" anywhere in the invitation. The forum is about reforms needed to facilitate good management of the Ulster County Democratic Party. I'll have to sign my name here as I'm in the library and this desk top is forcing me to id myself as anonymous. Best, ralph childers
PS. Come listen Friday as to why I think reform is needed.

"Bring out your dead", or in the democratic party's case, your social progressives! Throw out the ones who want to push UNPOPULAR agendas in the name of democrats, ie licenses for illegals. Throw out ANYONE from Woodstock or New Paltz who make it their LIFE DREAM to be a chairperson. There is something wrong in the membrane with someone who LIVES for this.

My check for the fundraiser in October in Highland was written directly to "Jon Sennett for DA". Insofar as he was the democratic nominee for the top contested position on the ballot, the money went to "democratic candidates" as promised.

The money went towards - but did not pay the entire bill for - the joint brochures with the D.A. & legislative candidates. Those legislators who wanted to participate (i.e., join on the literature with the D.A. cadidate) had approximately 4,000 pieces of literature printed and provided to them.

Did Schacter file paperwork? I bet he put the money in his pocket. The guy is scary.

Not bad predictions now were they?

So folks, how did it go? Do we get an update?
