Edwards Endorses Obama

John Edwards today came out and endorsed Barack Obama. While, I'm behind Hillary 110% this is not a good day for Senator Clinton. The delegate count is not looking good and the super delegates are leaning toward Obama. I have nothing against Obama and will support him if he wins the nomination. I just hope Obama is strong enough to beat McCain in November.

Seeing Edwards backing Obama is a real gift. How could anyone not get behind a team like this?

I know there are some Clinton insiders here. Tell us, how much screaming and thrashing was there are the HRC HQ lastnight? This makes FL a complete wash, and MI will likely be seated 55/45 for Clinton, but she won't be able to use the raw numbers.

You promise to support Obama, if he is the party's choice. Do you also promise not to participate in or support race baiting, when the GE battle starts? Like in the 80s, whenever the name Willie Horton was brought up, you were labeled as a racist, ignoring the fact that Dukakis supported and vetoed a bill sought to end the practice of furloughs afforded to lifers. Willie went on to brutally beat and torture a man in his home, and vicuously rape his new wife. But, for some reason, using that against candidate Dukakis, was off limits. It was racist. Go figure.

This endorsement cuts both ways. Edwards had to endorse Obama so that the shared uncommitted votes from Mi. could no longer be an argument against seating the Mi. delegates. Since Edwards attacked Obama ruthlessly at the debates, it would seem that the positive effects of his endorsement have been diminished. The 19 delegates Edwards had are now considered supers as they have no allegiance to Obama. Let's see who Elizabeth Edwards endorses. Her endorsement will carry more weight since she won't be compromising her principles unless she endorses Obama. John had to say publicly that this was in his name only. I guess this year's trip to Wendy's will be a little tense. I disagree that this is a bad day for Hill. This endorsement goes a lot further in her favor than in Obama's. Short term pain for long term gain. Seating both Fl. and Mi. the way they voted brings her many more delegates than Obama gets votes.

7:49,
You say "Let's see who Elizabeth Edwards endorses. Her endorsement will carry more weight since she won't be compromising her principles unless she endorses Obama.". So, she has NO CHOICE in your eyes, right? She must endorse Clinton, otherwise she will be compromising her principles, therefore carry no wieght. That fair.

I believe Edwards' commited delegates are now considered uncommitted. Not really super. Regardless, typically a candidate instructs his delegates to throw their support behind his/her choice, thereby giving his/her delegates to the candidate they support.

10:21- Elizabeth Edwards' healthcare plan is what Hillary is running on and Obama opposes. She can throw away her agenda if she wishes but it dimishes her standing like John's was.

Finally you acknowledge what everyone else including Clinton has realized...Obam will be the nominee. Big step for you. at any rate the endorsement means nothing given the time frame it was given...this thing has been over for weeks. All he did today was acknowledge he is supporting the democratic nominee.

12:12-Very funny. Edwards just did it to take away the impediment to counting Mi. Obama can play presumptive nominee for a while, but he's not electable. It would be very foolish to bet on Obama getting the nomination in August.

I am a Republican and I actually like Obama. However, John Edwards is a big phoney. He made tens of millions of dollars suing doctors and hospitals (our CAREGIVERS), built a mansion, and then talks about the poor. How much of his money has he given to the poor ? He is a snake oil salesman with a $400 haircut and he will not help Obama.
