UPDATE: VOTE TODAY....
Due to the fact this website is listed with the Poughkeepsie Journal, I am not allowed to discuss my own election, the Journal feels it would give me an unfair advantage to the other candidates and I respect that. I can however talk about the District budget, which is up for a vote this Tuesday, May 20th.
I think the budget is fair and has a very moderate increase this year, by far one of the lowest budgets in the Mid Hudson Valley. The budget was originally at 4.9 percent and was lowered to 3.1, after the board took an extra 485k they received in state aid and used it to offset the tax levy.
I know that taxes are on the rise all over, and the way public education is funded in NY through property taxes is a nightmare that effects everyone. The way to fix this is through real property tax reform and keeping this issue on the forefront.
If the budget is not passed it only affects the kids and it's not fair to them. This is a fiscally responsible budget and I urge everyone to go out and vote yes for the kids.

Here's the common sense way of funding public school systems:
1) Consolidation of school districts as it is done in the south.
2) Shared taxation across the board rather than just having property owners alone footing the bill.
First, I will vote no.
Second, if you win on Tuesday, will you continue this blog?
Yes, I will continue the blog if elected.
Vote no, no, no, no, no
First I have to say that I completely agree with 4:51.... That being said, after a 39% tax increase fully backed by the Republicans and Noonan, and then a 7% increase by the Democrats and Donaldson...... of course 3% looks good. How about 0%? How about lowering our taxes? How can Big Boy Blaber be so proud of a 3% tax increase? Because he's following the lead of all the other Ulster County CAREER politicians. Vote them all out! These guys need to stop playing with our tax money like it's monopoly money. Wake up voters. Ulster County politicians have a credit card. They're having a ball running up the charges, taking care of themselves and their friends, and the voters have to pay the bill. You wouldn't let your wife or kids do this to you, why would you let your politicians do it to you?
How will you vote?

Its DAVE BELL here ..I say NY and especially Ulster County is TRASHED..There are NO JOBS! There is the HIGHEST TAXES IN THE ENTIRE NATION IN NY..There is the Biggest DEBT in the nation in NY to be paid off guaranteeing higher taxes and more JOB LOSSES for decades..There is NO AFFODABLE HOUSING..There is no relief in sight..Tell the kids to get out of NY ASAP..There is NO FUTURE in NY except as TAX SLAVES..Houston Texas is BOOMING...see this link..http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601109&sid=a.27zZYkYCas&refer=home

MOVE !!!!
Vote NO! It is very easy for you to say a small increase is better...of course it is better than 39%, but how about some cut backs. The student population is decreasing yet the costs go up every year ....how about a decrease or no increase just one year. There is more deadwood and waste in that schhol district and it is time for it to stop. Do you pay any taxes? If you don't how can you even speak intelligently about the burden they are on people. Reform is great but how about some belt tightening as well.
I'm voting yes on the budget. Yes on Bauers, Blaber, and Arther.
Yes on the budget, Bowers and Blaber - no on Coston and Childs. We don't need the clergy running our school district. Let them run their churches.
Not only are you not allowed to talk about your election on your blog but it appears you cannot talk about it to the freeman either. Your bio was a bit sparse on information for us prospective voters... infact I don't thin it said anything except the support for the Carnegie library.
why wont you post my comments about the school board administrators being overpaid?
Thats why I iwll not vote for you, your a childish coward afraid of the big bad wolf!
When you grow up Ill vote for you
BULLET VOTE FOR BLABER!!
7:10 PM ;
That was my fault, I did not get back to them in time. Anyone with any questions about my candidacy can call me 532-1503 or email me. Thanks and vote on Tuesday.

Good luck today! And yes to school budgets!
i am bulleting for Blaber too.
Move?? Is there room for any more "Fore Sale" signs in Ulster County?? Looks like EVERYBODY is tring to sell and get out to me...
I gave my 3 votes to Childs
Vote no, education is important, but so is heating. It's time for people in goverment to start paying their share in health insurance and use that money for education. Its time to put a freze on school budgets.
2:56, you got a point there. With the salaries our State, and especially Federal representitives make, they should pay 100% of their health insurance. Good family plans are around 1300 a month. I'm sure Hinchey could afford that. He doesn't even need a family plan, 600 is the going rate for a single plan.
