To say neither party has a "stranglehold" is attempting to make light of one party's complete and utter failure to uphold their duty to its constituents. The fact that one party has is hardly a "high horse" stance. It's not my fault or any other Democrats' fault that the Republicans are beneath contempt and insist on wallowing in filth. They do have a choice you know and they choose to be the very worst scum. Try as you may to do damage control, the ugly red Americans have become the Taliban to 80% of Americans. Their platform only appeals to 30% of the electorate, while the Democratic platform holds a solid 70% approval. I think there's a massive advantage to the Democrats that makes a Republican victory pretty unlikely.
