Pray for my boy Artie Lang...sad sad sad

As Howard Stern sidekick Artie Lang remains in the hospital after stabbing himself nine times in an apparent suicide attempt, according to the New York Post, Stern has taken to the airwaves defending his friend and bashing the press.

"I'm pissed off at the sh*thead who got paid $10 bucks to talk to Page Six," Stern said of the Post, who first published details of Lang's alleged medical condition.

Stern said that he was actually hoping the news "wouldn't come out" and that the story would "go away."

"I don't know what to think. I'm angry about it. I'm sad about it. I'm all over the place emotionally," Stern said Thursday on his radio show.

"I work with Artie, I love Artie. Everyone has their demons, including myself, but he's wrestling with some serious stuff. When I heard the news it was too much to bear."

The 42-year-old Lange has been absent from Stern's Sirius radio program for a month. On Monday's show, Stern said Lange isn't leaving the program and called him "a tremendous contributor."

Lange's publicist confirmed that the radio sidekick was hospitalized. The Post says surgeons were able to save him despite heavy bleeding.

Lange's mother called police Saturday morning after entering his Hoboken, N.J. apartment and found the bloodied comedian, a law enforcement source told the New York paper. "Lange sustained six 'hesitation wounds' and three deep plunges," the paper wrote.

"This is a family matter. I don't know what to do," Stern said. "I don't know what to say...just remember who Artie is and what a wonderful guy he is...he's wrestling with some serious stuff...I only wish him well."

Stern attempted to read the Page Six item, but stopped almost immediately. "I just feel sick about this. I don't even wanna read it," he said.

Lange is a New Jersey native who lives in Hoboken and has battled drug addiction. In September, a New Jersey judge revoked his driving privileges for seven months after he admitted he was under the influence of prescribed sleeping pills in a minor traffic accident.

Prayer has consistently been shown to have a detrimental effect on the victim's health. Are you seriously asking people to harm this man or is it ignorance?

A little truth please. Any look at the many studies of the effect of prayer shows a range of results with the most trusted studies showing no effect. Why you would go to such trouble to be untruthful and hateful is beyond me.

The last word of your comment would be more appropriately applied to yourself.

hey 2:11pm,,

i am here to tell you that you are incorrect , sir,

I was sick with HEP C for 8 years & was on the transplant list, sick dying more every day -

I had three groups of musical website's fans going thru this long wait with me, & many , many, prayers were said for my getting a Liver -
I had deep faith in my religious beliefs & everyone else had there beliefs vbut those heartfelt prayers had an effect on me & my health, mental & physical -

my wife never lost faith that i would indeed get a "miracle" & i did,,,

when i was under the knife, deep asleep, i saw & felt spiritual things that you can never tell me were not there & real -
i am now, FOUR years post-transplant, & healthy as a horse -

strong like bull & my faith has only deepened -

so you can take your cynical beliefs & put them in yr pipe,,

cause i am here to tell you, in no uncertain terms, you are incorrect, sir -

now, go ahead & attack or criticise my feelings & beliefs,, s'cool,

bd

Dont wast your time praying for anyone. Get up, get out the door and make yourself useful.
Want to help those with mental illness? Find a facility that you can volunteer at.
Want to help earthquake victims, reach in your wallet and donate.
The time you spend praying for anything is time better spent DOING.

Jeremy, Your a little late with this news. It was reported over a wee ago in NY papers and Stern was criticized over his being pissed off about it makin into the press. If it was somebody else they said he would have been having a field day with her with his sick humor. Double standard they say. Also who is mojo as you indicated would be outed. Your credibility is shrinking if you dont reveal.

One I agree with Butch Dener and as for being late, yeah, somehow I missed it. Artie has always been my favorite comedian, very talented and funny.

Butch, you should be spending more time learning english rather than wasting time on useless things like praying. Maybe getting sick could have been avoided.

The fact that prayer could have helped save BD so he could go on to support an organization(Republicans) dedicated to depriving healthcare to so many stands as proof alone that prayer is detrimental to one's health. Thanks BD for proving my point so well. You seem to always stand for the opposite of what you preach. Maybe you should go to Haiti to preach about the value of having too many children so they can get contraception.

2:11 pm is Dr. Joe Mauceri.
But seriously, praying for someone like this is like saying hang around with someone like Stern and don't expect to have consequences.
Why, it's almost like hanging around with Sottile and not expecting to have addictive hero worship or suicidal tendencies--those are the only two possibilities with that.
