Sheriff Van Blarcum Will Seek Another Term

Sheriff Paul Van Blarcum announced today that he will seek another term as Sheriff of Ulster County. Sheriff Van Blarcum won his seat in 2006 destroying challenger Kevin Costello by a more than 2:1 margin.

Sheriff Van Blarcum is widely popular and has a list of accomplishments that will make him tough to beat. His Under Sheriff Frank Falutico is also a stand up guy and they do great things for Ulster County.

We like him for another term.

Van Blarcum is a first class Sheriff. Too bad Auerbach and Hein are such losers. Neither one does anything of value.

Van Blarcum will get re-elected. Auerbach is toast. Quigley's gonna clean Hein's clock next year.

Van Blarcum also has enough baggage to fill a tractor trainler. Where to start...sexual harrassment law suits....high ranking department employees sending out pornographic images over the internet. Now the newest lawsuit, a deputy sheriff hitting a pedestrian after coming home from a Xmas party in a deparmtent vehicle...guess who investigated the circumstances of the accident? (Or should I say who didn't investigate the circumstances of the accident) Yes the Sheriff's Department. That should be a big big award for the victim of the accident. Can you say lack of institutional control.

Enough baggage to fill a tractor trailer huh? The sexual harassment lawsuits started under the last Sheriff, if you can even call him that. The employees sending porno were disciplined according to what was made public, I'm sure that stuff never happens anywhere else though. If I recall correctly the accident was involving someone on a bicycle and it happened around November 15th according to the freeman. What time of year do you generally celebrate Christmas??? I'm sure you won't let things like facts get in the way of your agenda but you should try reality sometime.

How about this for reality? What does it matter what date a pedestrian or bicyclist for that matter. The issue concerns a personally used police cruiser being involved, ummm twice in a year!

Here is a good question, where did the blabber poll disappear to which indicated Van Vliet ahead of van blarcum by 25 + points? Guess that backfired?

Van Blarcum is finished. You are this generation's Ken Post. Buh Bye. I'd like to see the patrol cars painted Red and White again.

VanBlarcum Is responsable for whatever happens in the jail.Did he do anything to help FIX the problem of sexual harassment?NO!
Did he bring the people responsable for trading porno(FAULUTICO) to task?NO!
Did he fire an employee without reading ALL the evidence? YES
Will he get re-elected? Only if the taxpayers of Ulster County want their taxes to go up more, from the ADDITIONAL lawsuits to follow. What party is he running under? "the good ole boy party"

Now there is an smart comment, because other people are doing it, it isn't that big a deal. And if you call losing a few vacation days disciplined then that is a problem right there. They should of been fired just like any of us would of been in private industry. Why is the time of the accident even relevant, your losing focus..the bigger problem is why the sheriff's department felt it was remotely appropriate to investigate an accident involving one of their employees themselves when they call in the NYSP for assistance at the drop of a hat for just about anything else that happens. Also, did someone mention why the car was repaired within 48 hours of the accident so no one else could examine it. Maybe this guy should stay in town a little more instead of going to Quantico for six weeks to play fBI agent.

Fresh from a 10 week paid vacation at FBI school - can't blame him.

Are you referring to the same online poll in which VanBlarcum was in the lead until the last day? Forget the online polls, lets see how he does come November. P.S. Any public records I've seen indicate that both accidents were while on duty on patrol. I'm not condoning it but you seem to have some insight about the situation that maybe you should share.

Can you tell me why the Undersheriff made 97k last yr when his original salary was about 86k? www.seethroughny.net

Stand up guy? He is a cheat and his porno escapades made the department a laughing stock. He is right up there with the former governor and this next fool ready to resign.

VB seems to be an upfront guy...but if he expects his undersheriff to be an asset to him this time around, guess again.

People in the public knew that Kevin Costello was a creepy cheat and snake. The same can and will be said and will be an issue about Falutico. He will be the dead weight and VB will and should be questioned about his lax attitude when it comes to an US who can't follow proper protocol.

VB will and should be questioned about a lot of things, not just faluotico. Start with Sonny. Im sure hes got a lot to say.

Look for Van Blarcum to claim credit for moving inmates into the new facility, the sheriff's car computers and the sex offender website, ALL of which are accomplishments of the previous administration!

Don't blaim me if he gets re-elected,Ill vote for anyone who isn't the corrupt ,NYS Constitution avoiding Sheriff, who lies, and mis-leads lives. As for Fauloutico, forget it= GARBAGE in a bag

Lies and misleads lies???

Firstly, lets not forget about URGENT, the effective budget management or the sex offender location program established during VanBlarcum's first term.

The contributions he has made are tremendous. The work VanBlarcum has put in has surely out weighed all the negative and quite ridiculous claims that have been presented to discuss on this blog and in the media.

VanBlarcum's incredible commitment to the people within his community is a quality which is not easily found in the world of politics. Regardless of WHO the Sheriff is interacting with, he shows great respect, sincerity and empathy for all types of people. Point being, it's not only VanBlarcum's job performance that makes him an outstanding candidate for re-election but it's his character. The dedication, commitment and passion that VanBlarcum brings into his work is rare and unlike no other.
Unfortunately the sexual harassment case was an issue VanBlarcum inherited as he came into office. It is not fair to blame or hold the sheriff responsible for events that occurred in the past. However, the sheriff handled it well- Responding in a way that was rational and ethical, a balance VanBlarcum is known to have.s
