Henry Street Crime Committee a joke!

A "Henry Street Crime Committee"' has been started to address crime in Mid Town, what a joke! Now listen, I realize there is a presence of crime in Kingston, so does the mayor, Aldermen and the police chief, but it is not as rampant as the way these political opportunists make it seem. This crime commission members consist of model citizens like Gorden Webb, who hasn't had a sober thought in years. Not a surprise this ' committee' is advocating for auxiliary police. Auxiliary police would be an absolute disaster in this community. It works in NYC, make no mistake about we are not NYC, and despite what some public access pundits want you to believe, were not even close!

So as crime in Kingston continues to plummet, so does the credibility of this crime committee and all associated with it. If people think they can win an election based on scare tactics they're sadly mistaken, I firmly believe the citizens of Kingston are smarter then that.

Again, there are crime issues in Kingston, just like every other community this size. How you address the quality of life crimes is by doing neighborhood meetings, keeping your eyes and ears open and letting the police do their job. Not by forming crime committees and playing Cops 'n' Robbers.

You are right on and very much insightful with this one. The SAFE CITY COMMITTEE BITTIES are far too much into attacking the effects and not at all about treating the cause. They should be camped out at the offices of Economic Development etc. demanding some results. They are definitely being paid for a job that isn't getting done.

I would like to see you walk by yourself down Henry Street at 10:30 at night. You will then have an idea whether or not there is a crime problem in Kingston.

To the poster #3 ANYTIME. By the way 10:30 is a little early for me.
Why dont we make it 2:30 AM? Many
of times I walked and still walk on
106&Park in Manhattan late at night. Poster #3 why dont you call
Lenny's 'Angels' to walk with you??
You and Ryan are a joke.

Our Police DO a GOOD JOB!

I am a member of the group of which you speak. Cahill and Walker are not members and they do not run our group. We are capable of doing that ourselves.

police do a very good job, doesnt mean there is no crime problem

Sorry, no real drug to it. Just a little reason mixed with goal oriented behavior. It works wonders in the real world so I thought I'd try to suggest it in politics and cyberspace. besides i'm only a rooky at trash talk but i'll do my best to get better.

fact: there is a crime problem in Kingston.
fact: the police feel they are doing the best they can.
fact: the Mayor knows there are problems, but tries to put on a smiley face and say there is no problem.
fact: the neighborhoods are fed up with things the way they are.
fact: something has to be done.
fact: most of the people responding on this site are deluding themselves.

*FACT Yes there is a crime problem
and there is crime even in Utah.

*FACT The Mayor is doing something about the problem such as 'Operation
Impact' Trying to open up a substation.

*FACT There is an individual that is running for Alderman in Ward 4 that is trying to exploit problems for HIS
own political gain.

The fact is that there is crime everywhere in our society. An attempted rape in a Middletown church, the Ulster Mall being shot up, two recent stabbings in Paulinas Parking lot(Town of Ulster), a baseball bat robbery in Wendy's parking lot(Town of Ulster), a woman shot in the hip in New Paltz, five children arrested for plotting to kill a classmate with a razor in Saugerties, a woman viciously knifed to death at the Mall and the list goes on. The problem is that there are certain individuals who relish in the fact that crime happens in Kingston because it feeds their agenda driven rhetoric. Whether it be to win election to something, to be quoted in the papers or just to be an antogonist. Very few who are vocal complainers about crime are actually concerned about helping. Too bad.

The owner of Toniq was arrested and plead guilty to possesion of drugs and intent to sell drugs. He never sold drugs at his bar and there has never been evidence produced in any court that he ever sold any drugs anywhere. The intent to sell is very different from selling drugs. Also, that stabbing took place on North Front St at the parking garage, not at Toniq. I suggest you get you facts straight before making a fool of yourself again.
