Assemblyman Cahill comes out for Sennett

Assemblyman Kevin Cahill has officially backed Jonathan Sennett for Ulster County District Attorney. Assemblyman Cahill has said he was supporting Sennett for some time now but now he has gone on record with the Kingston Daily Freeman. Which is even more significant because this is the first statement our Assemblyman has given the Freeman in sometime, after a dispute over an editorial. Assemblyman Cahill broke his silence today in support of Sennett for D.A. Assemblyman Cahill has always been a good Democrat and a top notch public servant and I applaud him for that.

The article in the Freeman today was fair and while I won't be apologizing yet to Fusfeld or Reynolds. I'm back to questioning that maybe I have a case of pre-election paranoid jitters.

The man who nominated Bradley at the convention is dumping the girl he brought to the dance?

Anonymous said...

Will Hinchey follow suit and support the Democratic nominated candidate?

Jeremy Blaber said...

Hinchey has only made a finacial contribution to one candidate running for da and that's Jonathan Sennett--

everyone is dumping that girl that Kingston brought to the dance. Bradley is the shuda coulda whoda candidate.

Cahill breaks his silance for Sennett? Good grief, Blaber. You are something else.

Let's get this straight Clinton and Cahill are supporting Sennett and Sottile and Woerner are supporting Bradley hmm... there's a tough choice. Cahill, Clinton and Schumer are all lawyers and highly elected officials and Sottile and Woerner are not educated above the high school level and are heads of small towns. I think I'll go with Sennett.

Anonymous said...

No, Blaber, your right. The next article will be nasty and pro- Bradley. This article is like a gimme. How can they posiably ignore a presidential candidate supporting the guy. There blatent but even the freeman can't ignore that.

Anonymous said...

I don't think it is a matter of dumping anyone. It is more likely the Democratic Assemblyman backing the nominated Democratic candidate for DA. Are we sure this is a "new" story?

Cahill is showing the others what party loyalty is. I applaud Cahill for going public with his last minute attempt at party unity. No one else at the upper levels locally has stepped up.

I think the worm has turned. Biting the hand that feeds you can be a fatal error.

I can understand Sottile being in too deep to get off the boat, but Woerner is a young guy isn't he? The first mate doesn't have to go down with the ship. Just the captain. I think someone needs to have a serious discussion with him about his future plans.

Bradley's stuborn candiacy has caused a division in the Democractic Party. Cahill's endorsement is a step in the right direction, but Hinchey is the only leader that can truly heal the Party. Hinchey should not only formally come out in support of, far and away, the most qualified candidate, but should speak to bringing everyone together. He should remind all that merit and the democratic process has determined the candidate. It shouldn't be a case that you believe in our rules and process, but only if your choice prevails. Hinchey will be our congressman as long as he wishes. Even the Bradley supporters will follow his lead. Most of Bradley's supporters surely know by now that they aren't supporting the most qualified candidate, but are doing so out of well intentioned, but misplaced loyalties. It's time for Hinchey to lead and take his approval rating out for a spin. With or without Hinchey's endorsement, Sennett will not only be the first Democratic District Attorney in 34 years, but also the best. The focus should now be about bringing all Democrats together; not perpetuating the reputation that as soon as Dems are in power, they fight amongst themselves and blow it. Where's the leadership?

4:43, when was it said, we should all trust lawyers? Most people want to bulldoze the whole crew into the ocean.

Democrats who have supported Ms.Clinton and Mr Cahill in the past and now support Vince Bradley need to remember that Clinton and Cahill are not supporting OUR candidate when they are up for re-election or election.

The leadership is in the less than capable hands of John Parete. The party leader admitted in Times Herald Record that the Dem party is financially broke. Parete said in the Freeman that he assumed the congressman was supporting Sennett. He is a liar. His sons and Ahouse are actively campaigning for Bradley...the conservative. Get with the team or get out you bozos.

Cahill is a wuss or wuse. No matter how you spell it he is a wusse for backing Sennett. Ask him why he waited so long.

michelle said...

Cahill has no gutz to fold his tent and play ball with the team from left field. They are using him.

It is the double crossing Sennett people that has caused a rift in the party. I hope they get what the deserve, Republicans.

What a shocker, Cahill and Sennatt. bo backbone

What makes Bradley JUNIOR so different than every other candidate that LOSES at the democratic convention? Except for the fact that HE WAS NEVER A DEMOCRAT, that is - Each and every fine candidate in the past has stepped down for the good of the party. When the party doesn't want you, you step down, that is it!!
Schriebman has a bright future...
On the other hand, this self-entitled young man is leaving such a foul taste in everyone's mouth he and his cool-aid drinking followers WILL NEVER RECOVER!! Get out now, young man!! Show some respect to your elders, your congressman, your assemblyman... Show your supporters the friendship they have shown you and bow out while they still have some political credibility!
Get out and save what is left of your own dignity!

Bradley will be dropping out soon. It's his future at stake and he knows it. Running a sore loser campaign is immoral and unethical. Two qualities that preclude someone from public office. It's his choice to make,it better be soon.

The Kingst'onion goes down under republican pressure! Keep on going Jeremy! Show'em whose got balls. Your famous.

Gutz? Sennatt? people has? Sounds like dubya. Childrens does learn.Lol.

Anonymous said...

Mr. Cahill understands that Jonathan Sennett is the most qualified, but now he also realizes that everyone knows it. Jonathan Sennett will be a fine DA and provide an antiseptic blast of light and fresh air into all the dark corners.

1:39 - I'm sure Kevin and Hillary really going to miss those 11 votes.

Anyone who is reasonably well read, or has even a modicum of editing or proofreading skills, can clearly see that five of the six posts written from 1:39PM to 4:16PM were probably all contributed by the same person.

C'mon Vinny, you should be prepping for your Criminal Justice class next week. It's the only job you're going to have in Ulster County for a long time, don't screw it up by spending all your time here.

Teaching is not a career that will accept an immoral person ruining the minds of their students. If Bradley doesn't step down, it's not likely his teaching will continue. He should have quit before running to spare the institution the embarrassment of his disgraceful actions.

Anonymous said...

I am curious how you can prove that Sennett's people are double-crossers?

Also, the point made here that every other DEM candidate who does not make it at the convention drops out. Bradley is not even a Dem and he has made this race all about him rather then fixing the problems that exist with criminal activity in this county.

Shame on you.

Sennett supporters still crying!!you are so unsure about your GUY your are still using lines like "Bradley should do the right thing"-"Bradley has no future"-" Bradley will never recover" What in gods name are you people smoking. In Fact its you losers who will never recover.I will say it once again their are two people who could be DA of ulster county if the votes break the right way. Johnny BOY is not one of them do the math!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

8:57 - Written like a true Bradley supporter: "...once again their are two people who could be DA of ulster county if..." It's THERE not THEIR you idiot! Did you get your degree in accountancy too?

Don't forget the lack of apostrophies, inappropriate capitalization, and that ridiculous number of exclamation points! These Bradley people are just too stupid to believe! The Kingston public schools better take note! This is horrendous. The buck stops at the superintendant's office. Get ready for scrutiny. Your "no child left behind" is being subverted.

The New Paltz group did a fine job of manipulating and cohersing enough Dems around the county to support Sennett over a more qualified and better suited Vincent Bradley to get the Democratic nod for DA. They created an anti-Bradley fervor in no time. Most of the people did not know much about either candidate but were soon anti Bradley. They did not care if they divided the Democratic party. Their power play against John Parete, Kingston, and Vince Bradley were very effective but in my opinion short sighted.

The Hillary endorsement is a given, they tell her it is for the democratic candidate, she does it just like Schumer did, it means nothing. Cahill said Bradley is more qualified but goes along with the Democratic ticket of sorts.

I urge all voters to support Vince Bradley for DA. He is right for the job, and best for the County. Don't let the group that created this mess win, vote them out all across the county.

Vote for Vince Bradley on line 3 or 4 on the ballot this election day. Please mark your calendars for Nov. 6th. Thanks

Who's Tuchman? What business interest does he represent?

Anonymous said...

I'll say again: A majority is not the one that creates a division or fracture, and Jon has an overwheling majority of Committee support.

On election day you can expect the same.

Sennett will win the city of Kingston and town of Ulster by a slim margin, lose Shawangunk and possibly Lloyd and Marlboro to Holley, and win by a wide margin in the rest of the county.

Jr. hasn't got a prayer.

I'm on the Democratic Committee - "New Paltz" didn't come to our town committee to manipulate and "coherse" (you must've gone to the same school as Bradley and got a shitty education too) us into supporting Sennett. It didn't take an Einstein to figure out that Bradley and Schreibman were duds and Sennett was far superior to either of them. How is Bradley better-suited (don't forget the hyphen next time, Bruce) than Sennett? Bradley has never prosecuted a violent felony - no rape, murder, assault, car-jacking, stabbing, shooting, etc. He lacks integrity by not living in Ulster County for 11 years while still maintaining his voter registration here. You, too, lack integrity - you live in Saugerties and post to the Freeman that you're from Kingston so you can pretend that you're concerned about Kingston's issues. How has Bradley proven that he's a Democrat? He enrolled a few months ago - what has he done for his community? You, sir, are an embarrassment to the Democrats because you don't understand the meaning of loyalty (like your wife who got pissed and walked away when the UC Legislature was considering the no-smoking bill - she wanted the entire county to sacrifice their health for you two Merchants of Death - when the Dems took the majority, she came around again.) Unlike you and the rest of the Bradley supporters, the majority of the Democratic Committee can think for themselves - we don't need John Parete or Maurice Hinchey to tell us what to think. You're not even on the committee - how would you have any idea who was manipulated and COERCED (that's what you meant, right?)? I have the entire list and don't see your name - oh wait, there you are - you're listed as VACANT.

Anonymous said...

What the hell is "cohersing" anyway? This Bradley crowd sounds like they're in third grade. The more people found out about Bradley, the more they didn't like. Nice try to pull the wool over they eyes of the voters. People deserve to know who they're voting for.

Anonymous said...

Oh right! Tuchman's that big brown genitalia sucking guy. Cigar shop? Bet he has a nice PBA sticker for protection.

Anonymous said...

I love how people are saying Vincent Bradley Jr. is running for selfish reasons. Everyone running for public office does so for selfish reasons. If they weren't every UC legislature would realize the financial burden that their benefits package puts on taxpayers. They would give up those benefits because being a legislator is a part time job. They would not take the money from the county to buy out their benefits because they have them already from the full time job they hold. The mayor wouldn't need us to buy him a jeep so he can drive to his job. These people feel they are entitled to perks for the outstanding job they are doing. How about thinking of the tax payers wallet? Like Mike Bloomberg who is mayor of NYC for one dollar a year. He takes the subway to work. Why don't local politicians take these new buses we spent so much on to get around? Also the most selfish politician, Maurice Hinchey goes on more taxpayer funded trips/vacations with his family than any other congressman in the United States. Look it up it is a fact. Democrats and Republicans a like go into politics for themselves not for the people. You are suppose to do things for the good of the people who pay your salaries, not the party you are affiliated with. Don't blame Vince Bradley Jr. for behaving like almost every other politician on Earth just because you support his opponent.

Anonymous said...

4:15 - Tuchman and his wife Michele own Uptown Cigar Shop. She was the vice chair of the committee and didn't want the UC Legislature to pass the non-smoking legislation because it would hurt her business. They didn't have any qualms about imposing second-hand smoke on the entire county for their financial gain (the state finally passed it). When her term was up, she resigned from the committee and no one heard from her (which was fine - no one really cared). When the Dems took the majority, she reappeared and now wants to be a player again. Too bad, so sad...

Anonymous said...

Vince Bradley is running for OTHER peoples' selfish reasons and it's blatantly obvious. This poor schmuck is getting pushed under the wheels of a bus for people who couldn't care less about his future. He's in too deep and doesn't value his own future as much as the fact that he took money from bad guys. He needs to get out, stash the cash for the future, and turn in whomever lifts a finger to try and collect. Vince, you have no obligation to return money and these people are not your friends. Stand up for yourself and do the right thing. People respect that and want candidates that stand FOR something, not against something. If you come clean, you'll get protection. You'll also make your real friends proud. You know, the people with no personal interests at stake. Despite the cynicism,we do exist.

Anonymous said...

Your logic that Bradley is acting just like every other politician is both false and insulting for those who serve with integrity...such as Charles Schumer. He gets stuff done.

The only thing Bradley has done in the last 9 months is to whine.

The district attorney is the top prosecutor of the county. This job is so key to the success of our safety. Bradley is not the right person for the job. A Sergeant perhaps, but never the chief.

Anonymous said...

Kevin is only after his own interests. I would have more respect for him if he really took his constiuents thoughts into account. He could make a difference, but he is not.

Anonymous said...

Kevin first went with his personal friendship, but then he did take his constituents (only one "i") views and their well being into consideration. He did the right thing. It's time for Bradley to do the right thing. Bradley's campaign is for all the wrong reasons. For all the wrong people.

Anonymous said...

It's too bad Vince allowed himself to be used so that he could turn a blind eye to the corruption that continues to destroy Ulster County. That's why Al Spada wanted Don Williams out - Don wouldn't play ball. If Bradley was smart (which he obviously isn't), he would've bowed out and run for Comptroller. He would've been perfect for the Dems - he has a CPA and by then he would've been an enrolled Dem. No one wants Lisa, and as of yet the Dems don't have anyone. There's no way the Dems would nominate Vince next June - even after Sennett wins, Vince will go nowhere in the county. Maybe Sottile will find him a job at City Hall. Kevin is way too smart to do anything for Bradley - he knows Bradley's an idiot (and so does Hinchey, he just can't admit it).

Anonymous said...

Why should Bradley get out? What is so special about his 'position' that the Sennett fans are foaming at the mouth about? Why not call for Carnwright to get out? Judging by the talk here, neither he nor Bradley have a chance. If he is such a 'dunce', you should have nothing to fear from him. Right?

Anonymous said...

Interesting note...Bradley looses DA...he has two job offers.

1/ Law Clerk for Chris Cahill
-or-
2/ Fulltime Corporation Counsel for City of Kingston

which would he choose??

Anonymous said...

You forgot #3-dog catcher.

Anonymous said...

If I thought voting for Sennet (to get Bradley out of the picture) would get Sottile out of City Hall I'd do it. Sottile is such a moron.....he's got to go.
