Ulster County district attorney candidate Jonathan Sennett has been endorsed by CSEA Local 856. Sennett beat out Vincent Bradley Jr., to earn the endorsement. The union, which represents 2,200 workers in Ulster County, said Sennett is “a proven prosecutor with great integrity.” Sennett is running on the Democratic and Working Families lines.

So I'm voring for Gilpatric, Sennett, Cahill and Ringwood. Go figure!
Hopefully you're an informed voter and not a political cult member, and you should vote for whoever YOU have DISCERNED to be the best candidate for the public good...
Sennett is now endorsed by 20,000 union members in Ulster County as well as a senior senator.
The Republican is endorsed by the Shandaken police department.
The Conservative candidate is endorsed by a cigar salesman and a furniture salesman.
FYI- The Beesmer who owns the furnature store and the Beesmer who posted in support of Bradley are two different people.
Thanks Jeremy, the connection was just too eerie.
The CSEA endorsement of Cahill, the republican candidate for mayor, is really 'no big deal'. But this is huge for Sennett. I like your logic, so progessive. If that little triangle block doesn't fit in the square cut-out, throw it away.
CSEA endorsement is a good thing for Sennett but worthless in your eyes for Cahill. How come?
Blaber back with the Cahill endorsement :
the endorsement from the C.L.C. represents a majority of workers that live outside the city of Kingston, so if Cahill was running in a county-wide race, this endorsement would be significant, not so much city wide.
So he's being consistant. Furthormore, this is another win for Sennett and another knock-out for Bradley who has never beat Sennett at anything.
According to the Freeman, Bradley said the office should only bring indictments "it thinks it can win."
Way to take the tough cases Vince.
9:33, except for raising money. Bradleys got Sennett licked on that one.
Wow! I can't believe the Freeman is actually reporting something! I was starting to believe that their agenda was so far to the right that they had no integrity at all. How come the last item showed Jon lagging in fundraising? Is this more accurate? Plea bargaining is the most effective tool the DA has in flipping the little fish to catch the big fish. Not doing so is like running protection for the racketeers. This county and Kingston in particular, needs Sennett to clean up the streets so that people with families and the elderly can walk down Broadway without propositions from prostitutes and crack dealers that I've witnessed myself in broad daylight! That represents the abysmal failure of the justice system. What can a cop do when his top official fries the little guys and lets kingpins off to recruit new pidgeons from a pool of unemployed victims? It's like a game of whack'a'mole for law enforcement. Nothing changes except the names and business goes on like nothing is being done. We need Sennett to bring this routine to an end,not a "homeboy" to just give lip service! Take it from the people on the front lines,Sennett is the best candidate. We've got your back Jon,help us rid our streets of these societal terrorists.
3:14 It is false to portray Baby Bradley being God's gift to the criminal justice system.
Anyone who sees him talk quickly gets the sense that he does not have what it takes to be the district attorney the county needs.
For an unappealing guy...he has an amazing number of "friends." They are not friends, they are people who knows his family and want preferential treatment.
That does not serve Justice in Ulster County.
11:03 - That wasn't his only inane comment.
How about the tactic of cleaning up one block and letting "them" move to the next block. Then going after "them" on that block.
There you have 1:15's endless game of whack-a-mole.
Bradley's a dolt...
As a Rich Cahill supporter, its nice to see that your man Sennett got on CSEA bandwagon too.
We'll pull the lever for both now!!
To 11:03am
If VB wins maybe he ought to move the office to OTB and play the ponies or lotto.
There is some empty store fronts in Kingston Plaza and I am sure that VB's friends - the Jordan's will rent to him.
I feel some people are missing the boat on the role of the District Attorney. The D.A.'s role is to condouct criminal investigations and prosecute criminal cases once a criminal act has taken place. Any candidate who says he will clean up this area or that area of Kingston, Ellenville, Saugerties, etc. is blowing smoke. The D.A. does not control the police agencies with jurisdiction in Ulster County. The Chiefs of Police, Sheriff, and State Police Zone Commanders run their respective agencies. The D.A. may suggest plans and strategies, assist with funding and personnel, but may not order the respective agency chiefs. He is not a police officer, he is a lawyer and Officer of the Court. Remember, while the D.A. has been touted as the chief law enforcement official, he is not the top cop. That role is constitutionally designated to the Sheriff who is an elected official. In conclusion, please choose the candidate you feel will be the most effective prosecutor.
It's very depressing to the boys in blue to bust a dope pusher only to see his little brother out taking his place the very next day! This is really upsetting when the real pushers are having six kids out of wedlock and on welfare while their mother drives them to school in a fifty thousand dollar suv. Then we're not even allowed to seize it because it's leased! Salaries for cops are not very high,we can't have those luxuries, yet we risk our lives to have this shoved in our faces! We need a hardass DA like Sennett that knows what it's like out there. Not some fancypants that couldn't care less about the guys (and gals) that take all the risk.
539 The prosecutorial methods make or break the effectiveness of our law enforcement. The DA is not a cop,but that doesn't mean that his methods are not directly responsible for the level of street crime that is "tolerated". Anyone that thinks the police chief or sherrif can just perform his duties and the DA can just sit back passively and abdicate his responsibilities is simply delusional. I realize that you backwoods country f@#ks are used to your "good ole boy" routine but this is war on the streets and every tool needs to used. Furthermore the DA can positively impact the judicial system by working with judges to use creative sentencing to help PREVENT gang and drug violence on the streets. Your view is so outdated and obsolete that it seems that you're from a 1950's era of justice. Crime has advanced but you have not. That's why we need a progressive thinker like Sennett to bring this deplorable system that has suffered defeat on the streets into the 21st century where WE all live, unlike yourself. If you can't handle the reality, then go move to a nice gated community in Florida where the old and hopelessly outdated find solace. Time marches on with or without you.
As Bradley labors over his work as an adjunct professor at UCCC (teaching 1 course), word comes from a reliable source that his campaign has paid $100 to people in Midtown (some with drinking problems) to go door-to-door asking to put up Bradley campaign signs.
What he can't walk the streets of the area he says he will take back?
We don't need a puppet regime in the DA's office.
I think true democrats need to demand that atleast $5,000 should go to Sennett from the Dem Committee's coffers.
The leader who was quoted in the Freeman saying people still have hard feelings and that the general election is the primary should be fired on the spot.
Hard feelings that a primary principle of business administration was introduced to this DA race? It's bush's fault that people have embraced "aces in their places" not Sennett's. We have a retarded president with phony degrees that forced democrats to go for the smartest candidate as it's primary pre-requisite for office. Sennett won on that principle. These "leaders" are now facing the same test. Stuart Fraser has failed the minimum standards for intelligence. His organization skills are all that he has at this point.
5:39 I bet that's why you wanted your "top cop" to be that crook Costello. Your "hands off" mentality is quite clear.
Nice to see which candidate the Hoffman House is supporting. THAT;s A HUGE SIGN! and lit up.
Hoffman House is in Kingston, right? I'm assuming by the size of the sign(compensation for something?) that it's for Bradley.
If you ask Gus Seche, Pat Bradley and other uptown restaurateurs how much business they're losing since they've openly backed Baby Vinny, they give you a pained smile and claim it's not "so bad."
Guess he's not as popular as his old man...
Is that sign an indication of a hefty bar tab?
The Hoffman House is owned by Pat and Ginny Bradley - I'm not sure how they're related, but they are. But, just because you're related doesn't mean you have to vote for Vince. I wouldn't vote for Jr. because he's inexperienced and he's supported by the corrupt politicians who need him to protect them from their white-collar crimes. That's Bradley's only experience - who better to help them cover up their graft and kickbacks? He's never prosecuted a violent felony (assault, homicide, rape, etc.). All that white-collar crime in mid-town Kingston will get cleaned up, though!
The Hoffman House is owned by Vince Jr's Aunt and Uncle. I wouldn't hold anything against them. Family is always first.
...not when your relative is not qualified for the position. You can tell him you'd vote for him (and who knows if that would be true) but you don't want to alienate your Democrat and Republican customers.
DEmocrat is an adjective, not an adverb. Please use Democratic for an adverb. We don't want to sound like the "git'r'done" crowd.Although Barack has been practicing to do just that. Pathetic!
Boycot Hoffman House! With a little financial pressure, we will see how long the Hoffman House stays with their family member.
No, Democrat is the correct term for describing ones affiliation with a party. Democratic is the term used to desribe a form of government, ie Democratic Republic. For years, the democrat party have been attempting to use democratic, to fool the uninformed voters. I mean, how can I vote against the democracy party.
I disagree, but you can vote against democracy by voting republican, which stands for a representative republic and not a democracy. Democrats and democratic leaders support everyones' right to vote, while republicans seek to restrict voting rights. That is the basis of each party's platform. Note that I could not correctly use "democrat leader" it's improper english. Hey, even the DNC sign at my house says "vote democrat" so don't feel bad. The majority of americans have little grammatical knowledge. Not to mention how little knowledge they have of their own party platforms. Perhaps if we switched to "democran" it'd be easier.
To beat your response-this country was founded as a republic, not a democracy, however over time we gave the right to vote to all citizens to embrace the greek methods. It would be ethically possible to switch back only if the restrictions were based on intelligence and not money or position in society. We've already gotten Domenici to plan his retirement based on an MRI,and Kennedy just had one and passed(???)
OK. But then, what do you call it when the citizens vote for the candidate who promise the most money from the national treasury?
Actually, I can answer this myself. DOWNFALL!
We're down nine trillion right now. Most of it borrowed from China. Which state do we give them to pay that off? I vote Texas. That baby bond issue really cracks me up. I guess the financially illiterate have no idea how bonds work. They have to mature before being worth face value, they don't cost that much.
