Senator Clinton is an intelligent woman that recognizes Jon Sennett's approaches to be superior in their law enforcement expertise. From his days in the Bronx as a tough prosecutor on violent crime,to his teaching days at NY's finest police training academy, Jon has repeatedly shown himself to be a leader in his field. His indepth knowledge of strategies needed to combat and prevent crime, combined with his high ethical standards sets him apart from his rivals. I'm proud that my senators have both recognized what the majority of UC residents are learning about Mr. Sennett. Jon is a cut above the rest and will serve our county well. I'm sure his future is bright in our county and I would not surprised in the least if he went on to serve our nation with distinction. We are truly blessed to have such a leader in our midst who would set aside his personal financial gain to humbly serve as our district attorney. Thank you Mrs. Clinton for your recognition of Mr. Sennett's candidacy and we're looking forward to your presidency.

Again, a democrat endorsing a democrat is not newsworthy.

If Hillary wins I am moving to Russia.

You going to once ignore posts? I asked, DID SENNETT HAVE TO ASK FOR THIS ENDORSEMENT TOO? It's not too much to ask Jeremy. Did he request this from the Hillary camp?

Does she even know where Ulster County is. At least Senator Schumer knows

I don't know..but that is usually the way an endorsement works. A candidate asks someone for the priveledge of their support. I'm sure Senator Clinton looked at all three candidates and determined that Jonathan Sennett was the best choice for Ulster County.

8:43 : Kiss of Death? Get real.. this is a U.S. Senator and most likely the next President of the United States.

Jonathan has outclassed his competition in every public debate and panel.
Money and family connections alone cannot buy elections. Voters are smarter than that.
Jonathan is the class of the field and both NY Senators simply recognized it.

A likely scenario:
Rudy wins NY in 08 in a squeaker. Hillary is smart to endorse DA's so she will have a friendly DA in Ulster County to impound the machines, count the proverbial chads, etc. when she sues to have the election of 08 overturned by the Supreme Court much like Algore did in 2000.

I've not heard anything about the voting machine upgrades from the old lever contraptions we are still using. Seems like something ripe for controversy and you heard it here first from a Judge not seen in 75+ years ;)

People with high level intellects such as the Clinton's will always support one of their own. So few among us are worthy of the recognition that Jon has received. The ratio is aproximately 1/10,000. The people of UC are extremely fortunate that Mr. Sennett is civicly minded enough to put aside his private practice, and serve in the public interest. His willingness to take on the status-quo for the little people is a noble attribute. The fact that this race has become all about preventing his candidacy, has given him the exposure to garner such endorsements. I'm proud to have asked my politicians for their support in this race,to ensure that people like Mr. Fusfeld are stripped of their influence. This county is moving forward and Jon's opposition is just shovelling sand against the sea. They've been exposed to the highest level of our government. Soon, they will be very regretful and conciliatory, but you cannot unring that bell.

No one would ever endorse someone without being asked - what if the candidate didn't want the endorsement of a particular person/union/group, etc.? So, you're running for office and the KKK endorses you? Hello? Would that be good for your campaign? Whether or not Jon had to ask for Hillary's endorsement is irrelevant - she could've said no. Hillary (and hopefully any US Senator) would be foolish to endorse someone without researching him/her first. If she didn't think Jon was worthy, she's smart enough to decline. Do you think she'd do it just because he's a Democrat? Why would she risk her reputation? If you had a loser friend who wanted you to put in a good word for him/her at your job, would you? Would you risk your reputation by trying to get your loser friend hired? Only if you're an idiot. Hillary's in the same spot - she endorsed Jon because she did her homework and learned that Jon is top-notch!

Hey 7:31, good question! "Do you think she'd do it just because he's a Democrat?" As most of us know there is a Democratic mayor, a Democratic assemblyman, and a Democratic congressman who have refused to do the right thing. Not only is he a bonafide Democrat, he is also the right man for the job. Refusal to support him by any Democrat is mighty suspicious.

Those of you misguided souls supporting "Boo-Hoo Bradley" have no clue what he stands for or the weakness of his campaign.

IF Boo-Hoo had gotten an endorsement from any U.S. Senator, the Freeman would have given him a ticker tape parade down Broadway.

What endorsements does Boo-Hoo have? Aside from his friends and family plan.

With three weeks to go until the election, it is time to stop focusing on convincing the active voters to change their minds. Those minds are made up. Sides have been chosen.

It is also time to stop focusing on why Mr. Bradley is still in this race, time to stop focusing on the timing of the candidates declarations regarding their candidacy. The die is cut, it is now the homestretch.

The election will be decided based on turnout. The candidate who spends the most time getting their people out to vote is going to carry the day. Each person who spends time posting or arguing about issues that are now moot would be better off making a list of those friends/relatives who they can call and remind and encourage to get out and vote.

Come out and prove that bloodlines are not controlling. Come out and prove that a candidate does not have to be able to trace their Ulster County roots to the seventeenth century in order to win a county wide election. Come out and prove that you don't need the support of the richest landowners in the community in order to run a successful campaign.

Come out and prove that we don't live in an imperial system where the children of our former elected officials have some sort of presumptive right to elective office.

Most importantly, come out, vote and be counted. Otherwise, no whining in December.

Sen. Larry Craig R-Idaho is endorsing Bradley so we hear.

Seems fitting.

If a democrat endorsing a democrat isn't newsworthy, then I guess organized crime squeezing foreign investors who are trying to revitalize Kingston wouldn't be either. This country needs investors and crime strategies that protect those investments.Your little "whack'a'mole" perpetuation of street crime that threatens these investors' money isn't flying. Do you have any idea how politics in Moscow work? They're not nice. They make our mob look like kindergarteners. The next DA is going to have to live up to expectations. They pull out and Kingston stays a shithole.

Ditto 10:40a.m. You said it all. Jeremy, I love your blog, and I'll check in after the election. I've got too much work to do to insure that Jonathan Sennett is our next DA.

Hey JB, am I striking a nerve, maybe making too much sense. It seems ANYTHING unflattering (regardless of truth) of Bradley is always accepted. But when it comes to Sennett, he is holy in your eyes. I can't understand why you are so 'touchy' about critical assessments on senatorial endorsements. IT's the TITLE of this THREAD! You should expect questions on its meaning.

Sottile sold you out? You'll be the one laughing when you get his job.Lol.

Totally perplexed by 2:33. ??

6:50- Ignorance is bliss. Look at who's investing, then see who's thwarting them.

Jeremy, I like your blog but you are about as fair and balanced as foxnews. What Ann Coulter is to the Conservatives-you are to the democrats. I am a democrat and am sick and tired of the nasty tone of Sennett supporters. No wonder why so many democrats like myself are voting for Bradley. It is a shame to see such nastiness normally only reserved for the republicans.

Anonymous said...

How are Sennett supporters nasty? It's not the Bradley signs that are getting trashed throughout the county - it's the Sennett signs. Who's doing that? Sennett supporters?

Anonymous said...

For every action there is an equal and opossite reaction. Keep your Ann Coultergiests and child beater Dobsons in cages or quit whining. You seem to be able to dish it out,but you can't take it. Wimpy, wimpy, wimpy.Bradley supporters are the wimpiest!

We have an aversion to burning plastic. But we are keeping track of those Sennett signs. There are inventory control threads imbedded in them. Satellite tracking will enable us to put together conspiracy charges. We're on to you.

Hill and Chuck both did extensive research into this race. Hill did more and it took much longer because she's running for president. Only morons give endorsements without checking out who their endorsing. Both of these endorsements took Bradley's criminal element into consideration when deciding. I'm certain they checked out the people who asked for their endorsement too. I know they checked me out.

I started the endorsement process months ago. It's not a knee-jerk decision. The effect of endorsing a loser like Bradley could destroy a career. Some personal allegiances have clouded some peoples' judgement, those clouds are clearing. I think we'll see some real cohesion.
