Kingston Committee comes out strong for Sottile

"I don't know anyone who is as passionate about this city as my father" Jamie Sottile

Mayor James M. Sottile, recieved the unanimous support from the Kingston Democratic Council on Monday night and was given the nod to run again for a second term. The Mayor touted his success in putting the city in firm financial ground, as well as increasing the City's housing population.

The only race that was contested was in Kingston's fourth ward, where Shirley Whitlock easily deafened Matt Ryan 2,076.5 -615. Matt Ryan, yawn, vowed to primary. The people have spoken and it's time we all get behind Shirley Whitlock.

The committee nominated incumbent Jennifer Ringwood in Ward 2; former alderman Charles Landi to succeed the outgoing Leonard Walker in Ward 3; incumbent AnnMarie DiBella in Ward 5; Robert Gillon in Ward 6 and incumbents Bill Reynolds in Ward 7, Robert Senor in Ward 8 and Michael Madsen in Ward 9. Senor, a Republican, has changed his enrollment to Democratic.

According to Aggie Loughran, Ryan got shafted. Only ward 4 committeemen were supposed to decide, but the vote was made by the entire committee. Sounds like shenanigans to me.

Who is Rev Shirley Whitlock? and what has she done for or in the fourth ward? I attend several neighborhood watch meetings and I have never seen her at one.. What outreach has she done for this ward? or is she just another yes-person for the mayor to bully around... Matthew Ryan gets my vote!! there should be a line between church and state and having a revernd as a Alderman is making that line to BLURRED FOR MY TASTE!!

Jeremy, do you support having a Reverand on the ticket?

Matt Ryan got dicked and everyone knows it. Jeremy, you were there, you know it is true. No one but ward 4 committee people should have been voting.

MATT RYAN....Wrong for Ward 4

MATT RYAN....Wrong for Kingston

As someone who was not there it would appear that the Kingston Democrats did the right thing by endorsing Ms.Whitlock. As a resident of the Ward I will support her. It would appear Whitlock is an independent person
who would not take her marching orders from Mr'Cahill or Cosme as
I believe the other person would.

As a ward 4 resident I would hope that Ms Whitlock will now make her presence known in the community she would hope to serve. There is a neighborhood watch meeting on Wednesday evening and now that she has the backing of the Dems she should make every effort to be there and allow us the opportunity to meet her.

By the way it is Dr. Whitlock

Matt Ryan is just a bomb-throwing, wah-wah cry baby queen. He's a liar. He's stupid. He doesn't have a clue. Oh, one other thing, doesn't the Republican Party reject just about everything Ryan stands for? So, in addition to being a stupid liar, he's a hypocrite.

To answer the question about my opinion on a reverend serving in the council... I have reservations anytime a person of the clergy runs for office, I'm a firm believer in the separation of church and state.

However, after meeting with Shirley my reservations have been put to rest. I asked her some questions and she answered them to my satisfaction. Rev. Shirley will make the residents of Ward 4 proud and the Ward will be lucky to have her.

Matt Ryan is a dynamic person who took on the initiative of starting the midtown neighborhood watch group; HOWEVER, all I ever hear him talk about is Downs Street and Ora Place. He would be the best alderman IF Ward 4 only included Downs Street and Ora Place! Matt, you have an agenda and are as phony as a three dollar bill. Stick to your neighborhood watch group. When you are truly concerned about all of Ward 4 (not just your own neighborhood, then consider running.

to anonymous 8:43, actually jen ringwood started the ten broeck have watch group, which matt ryan later joined. then he essentially took it from her and renamed it the midtown neighborhood watch group - so he doesn't even deserve credit for starting a neighborhood watch group. it was then when he began to publicly rip ringwood and every democratic politician in town. as far as agnes goes, she's not happy unless she is complaining or trashing somebody - that's why she an this douche bag matt ryan get along so well

You say a lot of nasty things about M.R. It sounds like schoolyard jealosy to me.

Dr. Whitlock is a person evryone in the Ward can look up to..

Make you a bet the Dr. Would NOT
SELL OUT and take the GOP Line

Dr. Whitlock was the choice of the political machine running this City. Not the choice of the people. The nomination was rigged; the Mayor can not tolerate anyone who does not blindly follow his lead. The Mayor rigged the nomination. The Party has spoken and in this City, the Mayor is the Emperor.

I don't know Dr. Whitlock and I have no animosity nor do I harbor any disrespect for her. She was a last choice when others refused to run at the the Mayor's request. What is Mayor Sottile afraid of anyway? Delibrately stacking the deck is a sign of weakness. The nominating committee from Ward 4 endorsed Matthew Ryan. When Mr. Ryan wins the primary, perhaps the political machine will begin to listen to the people, rather than their own egos. I can only hope. We are not sheep to be herded at the Master's whim.

AS TO MY STICKING TO MY OWN NEIGHBORHOOD yes I am the co-chair of my neighborhood watch group and you are right I do care about Downs street and Ora place because the residents of those streets came to be for help!! what kind of co-chair would I be if I did not address their needs when asked and that is what a "neighborhood" watch chair is suppose to do..So tell me what Shirley Whitlock has done for the fourth ward?... by the way I was also involved with the Van Buren Street park and most recently the canned food drive for the Queens Galley on Washington Ave where we brought in over 750 pounds of food for the local soup kitchen.as FAR AS MY AGENDA GOES THE HIRING OF MORE POLICE AND THE ALARMING RISE IN CRIME IN THE MIDTOWN AREA IS THE NUMBER ONE CONCERN OF THE RESIDENTS OF THE FOURTH WARD AND THAT IS WHAT I HAVE ALWAYS REPEATLY FOUGHT FOR UNLIKE OUR CURRENT Alderman who has done nothing for the past four years and left this ward in the mess it's in today!!
as for my starting the Neighborhood Watch Group I have been apart of it from it's start day one with Jen Ringwood and co- chair Joe Morkys and the watch group voted to change the name to the Midtown neighborhood Watch Group it was not my decision to make!!It was the Neighborhoods!!

MATT RYAN IS JUST LITTLE DICK, PHIL THE PHELON AND JUST ABOUT EVERY OTHER RAGING MORON I CAN THINK OF ROLLED INTO ONE LOUDMOUTHED, SELF-IMPORTANT PACKAGE. WHAT HAS HE DONE BESIDES SPOUT BS FOR THE PAST NINE MONTHS? AND NOW HE'S RUNNING AS A REPUBLICAN? THAT SAYS IT ALL.

Mr.Ryan,

It appears you have a little temper
which is not good for an elected official. If someone who lives in your ward does not like you are you going to give them as nasty tone??? EMMMMMM??? Why dont you do the right thing and SELL OUT to the GOP and let the REAL Democrat
WIN in the Ward Ms. Whitlock.

Matt does not have a temper! You must be sensitive to his needs...it's that time of the month and Mr. Ryan is on the rag.

Mr Ryan:

Your motives for running are as clear as crystal. You have done a lot for your neighborhood and are to be commended; however, ward 4 entails much more than you think or see. You indeed, did take the initiative on the Van Buren Park. You also said that you wanted a safe place for your son to play. The only action I have seen you take is for your own neighborhood and for your own good. Stop playing games. If you want to run for alderman, take on the big issues, like crime in the midtown section (Henry, Cedar, Broadway, Van Buren, Van Deusen, and the Liberty Street areas). Look outside your neighborhood. Do something for the fine residents of midtown and help them in their struggle to live safe and sound in their own homes. The Mayor and the police chief have been very receptive to suggestions and advice. Insulting and degrading them is not the solution. Why not be part of the solution instead part of the problem. You certainly "talk the talk", but can you "walk the walk"? If you want to win, you need to show true selfless service and dedication to the ENTIRE ward 4 community.

Do something about crime? But, Mayor Sottile said there was not a crime problem!! Oh that's right, he's full of B.S.. Sorry, I forgot.

There you go again! Instead of trying to make a difference, you start whining about others. Stop passing the buck and put your money where your mouth is!
