Breaking News: Robin Yess resigns as Ulster County Republican Chairman

Breaking News:  Robin Yess resigns as Ulster County Republican Chairman

So the skinny is Mario Catalano and Roger Rascoe were allegedly plotting to take out Robin Yess next month with David O'Halleran and Chairwoman Yess caught wind of the situation and decided either she couldn't win or fighting against her own was just not worth it and quit.

Robin Sent an e-mail to Republican leadership saying she could not fight the G.O.B. (Good ol' Boys) and stepped down effective immediately.

I have mixed feeling on this, I will never say anything bad about Mario Catalano, I like and respect the man but it's disappointing Robin was treated with such disrespect from day one. The Republican party wanted Robin to fail and I firmly believe it is because the GOP, just does not like women in positions of power. Look how Fred Wadnola has treated Terry Benardo. One thing is clear, like Robin or dislike Robin, the Republican party just lost one of the hardest working members of their committee. Robin worked tirelessly for the party and was not given a fair chance in my humble opinion.

This is great news for Democrats, you have Mike Hein unopposed and the chairwoman of the committee stepping down less than three weeks before the convention in a HUGE election cycle with the District Attorney race on the line. The Ulster County GOP is very wounded right now, no question.

First Deputy David Van Buskerk will serve as acting chairman. I expect David O'Halleran will run for a full term.

Bad break for the Democrats!

Poor leadership from the get-go. Everyone said to give her a chance but she didn't do our party any justice. The job was too big for her and that's that. Does she think she can throw her hat in the ring now for county executive? She's run for just about everything else.

A SAD Day for the Grand Old Party.
Robin really tried to set a new modern day agenda, but the Good Old Boys, ( Wadnola & the rest ) wouldnt hear of it.
Let's see who takes over & really alienates the base ?

Very unprofessional resignation.

To bad at least she was trying. She was also honest something the Republican Party has always been lacking in Ulster County. Maybe we get Sennett as DA and he can throw all the good old boys in their big comfy jail.

It actually spells bad news for DEMS. Now a candidate against Hein could emerge and challenge his God of the Universe status.

Every couple of years we have party discourse. Last time it was the post 2009 John Parete Democratic debacle. Did not seem to harm them during the 2010 election cycle (can you say Van Blarcum and Auerbach).
Now we have the GOP and Robin's retreat. Sure makes interesting inner party political discourse but will have little or no effect on election 2011 (Can you say Hein, Sennet, Gallo etc). The tone at the top has a lot less to do with the quality of the candidate-be they Dem or Republican. GREAT CAESAR'S GHOST

Robin Yess was like a breath of fresh air for the Ulster County GOP. The GOB's weren't used to having someone with such focused conservative principles and honesty. I understand that she quit on principle over seeing Republicans in favor of spending vast amounts on Golden Hill putting taxpayers in debt, which is contrary to party ideals. The back biting and in-fighting by the GOP GOB's is shameful.

It is VanBenschoten who is the 1st vice chair but I like the way you flubbed the spelling.

Let's be honest about it: Last year was a big Republican year- a national tidal wave carried GOP candidates to victory. Incumbent congressmen Hall and Murphy went down to defeat. Yet, in Ulster County, Democrats somehow managed to win re-election to congressional, assembly, and county comptroller seats. Good old boys or not, how could a county chair survive those results? Yess was a loser.

Its nice to see that you still can't get names right. The Vice Chair is: David Van Benschoten

Robyn tried but the type of Mario and Rascoe are just bullys. Mario wasted all the money and then baled out. Rasco insults everyone then his lame committee has to call the next day and apoligize to people behind his back. Lets see how much lower they can take the party. I guess the lame legislature has helped dig the hole

9:54 hit it right on. Rascoe is a bully and a womanizer, look how he treats his own wife. The Republicans can only hope he self destructs sooner rather than later

Being a yes-person for Carl Palodino didn't help her.

It's O'Halloran, but love the fo-netic spelling

Robin was hardly a breath of fresh air, she was in way over her head.

Other than threatening Republican Committeepeople to attend her fundraising events, her fundraising ability was non-existent.

Her people skills were worse than her fundraising skills, with the exception of pandering to the far right extreme elements of the Republican and Tea Party.

She did not have a humble bone in her body and any sort of willingness to learn from anyone about anything.

She was a know-it-all and pretty much told everyone that as she resigned though several e-mails.

The resignation was childish.

If you are going to quit, just quit, we don't need the drama

She could have stayed on and really embarrassed the republicans, but she chose to leave. Pete Savago must be sitting back and smiling. I miss him don't you?

This means very little for elections...just look at dems, the elections they won were in spite of schreibman not because of him. Thing that makes no sense is she worked her ass off and wadnola and catalano and co. Like to sit in first row and tell people what to do....at least she got out and did it...now you lose one of your hardest workers for no reason.

Wadnola for Chair. Women have no place in politics. They belong in the Kitchen, barefoot and preggers.

From Yess's Facebook page - she knows that she is a big-mouth-know-it-all. Good Riddance!

Robin Vaccai Yess Thanks, Pam, but I am not done. Now armed with knowledge and, of course, a big mouth I am more dangerous.

The male republicans cannot handle the truth!! Robin was bringing a new perspective and enthusiasm to the Republican Party. I am sorry to see her go. We needed her new ideas and hardworking ethics.
I guess it is back to the same old way of doing things. Yuck! Very frustrating.

10:09 this is not a male / female thing. Read Yess' comments above

"Now armed with knowledge and, of course, a big mouth I am more dangerous."

That woman was has no grace, no class, and the Republican Party is lucky to be rid of her.

7:47 and 6:10 - I'm not at all a Yess fan, but she sounds very angry and hurt. It's difficult to exit gracefully when your term isn't up and you didn't really want to go.

This is hilarious, from Robin Yess's FB page.

Robin likes Mike Hein for Ulster County Executive.
