Could Ron Polacco Be The Next Mayor Of The City Of Kingston?

Alderman Ron Polacco is looking better and better at becoming Kingston's next chief executive and would be the first Republican to hold the office in over a dozen years.

While many under estimate the young two term Alderman, I don't and anyone that does is really mistaken. Ron Polacco has very similar qualities to T.R. Gallo as a young charismatic Alderman that came out of no where and took over a city that was desperate for new fresh leadership.

Ron Polacco is gaining support, he recently assisted KPD in a huge drug sweep that netted more than 18 arrests and has been active and about at all city functions and events throughout the city. In my opinion he easily will be the Republican nominee for mayor and I have it on top sources he's in the race and in it to win. He will likely have to face a primary from former Alderman Rich Cahill and possibly from Minority Leader Andi Turco Levin, both he will defeat.

In a general election it gets tricky, Polacco has to overcome a huge Democratic enrollment advantage in the city but the 6th Ward Alderman has been a fairly moderate voice which will appeal to independent voters and some Democrats that are feed up with Jim Sottile. Put it this way if Jim Sottile is the nominee for mayor, Polacco will win by almost 1000 votes.

Can he beat someone like Jim Noble or Hayes Clement, well that remains to be seen. Lets not forget that he did beat the very popular Elisa Ball last year, who's a great lady and would have been a terrific Alderman..so he has proven he is not to be underestimated and in this political climate Mayor Ron Polacco is at the very least a good possibility.

Have you written off Bill Reynolds? Will you be back to be 7th Ward Alderman? If not - then who?

Don't assume Polacco would beat Cahill. Cahill beat Martino when nobody thought he could.

Ron is also not very popular with the Republican Committee. Cahill would likely get the nomination and Polacco lacks money to run a primary.

Finally, thre is some irony in a Cahill vs Polacco match-up since Cahill has been advising Ron ever since he became an Alderman.

Ron will have a hard time with Turco, and he is at least 10 years older than T.R. was when he ran.

The only thing they have in common is they have an Italian name.

He will not beat a Democrat, he will beat the shit out of that idiot Rich Cahill though.

BTW... did you see the old man give the finger on T.V.? Why hasn't little dick spoken about that the way he did when a Democrat cursed in public? HYPOCRITE!

Jeremy
Very insightful of you to bring this up and start the chatter that local pols love.
He seems intelligent, bipartisan and able to listen and learn from everyone. Does not seem to grandstand and is not in love with the sound of his own voice as it seems many of the locals are...smitty

718 I think Bill Berardi would be a good Alderman for Ward 7 if Bill moves up to Alderman at large, but not sure if he would run.

He almost went down in flames the last time

Of course Cahill is advising Polacco since he gave up his seat in the ward to run for Mayor.
Let's look at what kind of alderman Cahill was:z-z-z-z-z-z-z-z-z-z-z- ok, I'm awake now. One can say he didn't do too much damage, except for helping approve speed limit levels where it was stupid to do, and engineering the parking commission and meters, which was a bit more damage I would say overall. Polacco hasn't done ANY damage-now that's an actual improvement!! One saving grace for Cahill, and that is he seems a bit more mature(and obviously moreso than dear ol' Dad) than he ever was these days, or is this just an illusion...?
Finally, your writing off Sottile is just plain silly, and by stating and restating this you make believing Cahill so much more attractive when he disbelieves this idea. Sottile just wants to be "nowhere" so he can "come out of there". Get it?

You underestimate Rich Cahill. He is more popular than you think.

With no money and with every major politico from both parties working against him, he came within 1,100 votes of beating Jim Sottile, a man who scored 85% of the vote just 4 years earlier.

As for what his father did, I appreciate the honesty. I thought that caller should fuck off too.

But, what did you expect Cahill Jr to do? Throw his father under the bus? He protects his father as any good son would. If he trashed his Dad to promote his politics, then he WOULD be a scumbag.

Ron would make a good mayor. He doesn't need to be feeding his ego and really cares about Kington. He is not out there grandstanding like some other media whore council members of the democratic persuasion. He is just quietly working behind the scenes. He has roots in this city and his family is a presence in Kingston. How about Polacco for Mayor and Andi Turco Levin as alderman at large.? For the poster who says that Ron is not popular with the Republican Committee, how does he/she know? I don't really think Cahill is pulling the strings of Polacco.

I do not under estimate Cahill, he can't win, he is damaged goods. Ron Polacco has no negative attached to him and has done a lot of good work. Ron is the breath of fresh air that the city needs. I think he will win the mayors race and I will support him. Blaber you surprise me every day, good call on this one. Let me be the first to start it... 1 vote for Polacco!

Also by the way Mr.Cahill you can stop telling people you advice Polacco becasue it's not true. No matter how many people you tell or how many blogs you write it on no one will beleive you. Alderman Polacco is his own man.

There seems to be a dispute on this blog as to whether or not I "advise" Ron. Allow me to answer this question.

Ron occasionally calls me for advice on certain issues. I have always been happy to offer him my advice. Ron usually follows my advice, though not always.

Rich Cahill is a punk ass. It is a miracle no one has kicked his ass the way he writes about certain elected officials. The names he uses are ass kicking worthy. He is a punk ass.

You are welcome to try.

If Polacco is popular with the City Republicans, why did they pick a newcomer like Alderwoman Levin OVER Polacco for Minority Leader?

Seems to me that the City Committee is unhappy with Polacco.

I also understand that most of the Republican candidates for Alderman were pissed at Polacco for putting his signs in other people's wards and thus confusing the voters.

Polacco seems to be a guy looking out for #1 and not a team player.

7:26. You Must be a complaining democrat.
I find it hard to believe that the voter would be confused especially when they went to their polling place and the candidate was not on the voting row. Give the voter some credit, 7:26.
For example, look at all of Judge Balls signs. They are in places that wouldn't even be able to vote for him. I am not confused by the lawn signs just annoyed that his signs are everywhere. Very tacky.

Its not just Ball Signs. Ride around the town of Ulster, even the Town of Esopus and you wills see plenty of Bruhn signs.

I give Cahill credit. He stands up for what he believes. I don't always agree with him. He is his own man though.
