Here and There

The Hein/Bernardo debate last week was held at the Rocking Horse Ranch, after the debate there was a ceremony recognizing the Ranch's 50th year anniversary, I attended and it was a nice event. Apparently, I left a little early and missed Legislator Sue Zimet's attempt to cool off from the 95+ degree weather by jumping in the ranch's pool via the ranch's pool slide with her clothes on. You can't make this stuff up.

A new poll has come out showing Mike Bloomberg ahead of David Patterson in a head to head match up in 2010. These polls are not accurate, not even Bloomberg's billions will be able to beat the Patterson machine that was started with his father the very well respected Basil Patterson. Bloomberg will not be elected Governor, if Patterson decides not to run which is possible, we will elect Andrew Cuomo as the next Governor of this state, and that's a good thing.

Can't help but notice the huge advantage that Mike Hein and Elliott Auerbach have right now over their GOP opponents. Does anyone even know who they are running against? Mike Hein and Elliott Auerbach are everywhere. Len Bernardo and Jim Quigley, the millionaire out of towner's are no where to be seen. It goes to show that Hein and Auerbach are the candidates that care about Ulster County and are taking this race seriously.

Lastly, disappointed that Tom Brokaw has been chosen to replace the irreplaceable Tim Russert. While, this decision had to have been hard and a lose/lose, I just do not see Brokaw having the personality to do the job. I think Chris Matthews would have been a better choice.

If you liked Russert, you liked that he was praised for not taking sides. If you liked Russert, you'd be happy that Brokaw will replace him through the election. Brokaw also is respected for not taking sides. Matthews is a blowhard, who wears his liberal opinions on his sleeve.

I saw Bernardo at the SOS Pig Roast in Saugerties this weekend.

Blaber, nobody is irreplaceable.

you are an idiot,,, Chris Mathews is as biased & rude as you are,, NO Network with 1/2 a brain would give him that platform,,,

Get Real,, & stop being such a sycophant.

The up-side of Tom Brokaw is that he is fair - but he is also a marshmellow. The down-side is he won't ask tough questions of anyone. (Hey: Is he really a Texan, or is he a Connecticut blue-blood like GHW Bush?)

Chris Matthews asks hard questions in a tough minded interview. Sometimes he gives his editorial opinion, too - which is typically an exhibition of his more liberal attitudes.

Neither Matthews nor Brokaw is Russert's equal - but who is? To be fair, tho - left of center MSNBC is not as far left as far right FOX is far right of center.

Zimet took a slide into the pool with her clothes on? What a disgrace. On the other hand, she could have been naked. (Let's count our blessings.)

3:23 Even with clothes on, this is an image that would scare the young and old alike.

It does not show the judgment or professionalism that one would expect from an elected official.

Just further proof, she was not right for the job of county executive.

What a joke, Zimit's gone bonkers. Her size matches her mouth. Maybe, finally, the ladies club members she runs will see what she is really about and that they have been used.

Oh come on... Zimet was having fun. Maybe you all should try to live a little, too!

Fun loving Zimet has no self-awareness, and less self-control. Nobody should take her seriously anyway.

Zimet having fun or just plain funny?

I love www.juliannot.blogspot.com... but then again I love all blogs.
I do feel though that however you feel about Sue Zimet, that at least she is a real Democrat. Hein is not. Look at his backers - REPUBLICAN! Is he letting in key democrats - no - they have be relegated to other campaigns. What a waste. Blaber, your post about Bernardo and Quigley was stupid. They are slaughtering you on UlsterPolitics.blogspot.com

10:37 PM: I love that blog too.
As for Ulster Politics, who cares what they have to say about me? All the local blogs and the wannabe chairman from Marbletown have nothing better to do but attack me. The truth is they are threatened by the perceived effect that this blog has had and continues to have as a source of information, they will do whatever they can to discredit me, the truth will not stand in their way. The fact of the matter is that my blog is largely over estimated, it has very little effect, people make up their own minds on who and what they support.

I just want to run this little blog and support the people that I think will do a good job for the respective offices they are running for.

As for Mike Hein, he is a Democrat, he may have GOP support but that's a good thing. When you run for public office you must be able to represent everyone, not just a select group of people. I know Mike and he has a Progressive stance on the issues that are important to Democrats and he is the most qualified for the job, that is what is important.

Len Bernardo and Jim Quigley, the millionaire out of towner's??
Why would it matter if you're broke or a millionaire?? It just means that they are succesful of what they do. Is that a bad thing? I dont think so. And if you supported some republicans and came to other events besides the ones that Auerbach and Hein go to you would actually know they are very dedicated to this race and are taking it seriously. And the childrens day parade?? Hein and Auerbach were nowhere to be seen...Bernardo was seen walking in the parade.
