Kingston NAACP

The Kingston chapter of the NAACP is really something great. I had the privilege of attending their re organizational meeting tonight at the Point of Praise church and it was a very emotional and enlightening experience.

The stories where powerful and I really took a deep look into myself and this community when listening to the regional director speak tonight..I can't express enough how moved I was by his words of equal involvement, getting people involved and the importance of a strong community. I really have confidence in this group and the growth for it in the future.

Chief Keller, Alderman Madsen, the Hein family, myself and many others all joined the nearly 100 current members of the Kingston chapter...I hope a lot more will join.

On a side note, congratulations to Rev. Childs for 50 years on the pulpit and a Happy 70th birthday...

That's really nice Jeremy. We're all so happy for you. You know, Len Bernardo has been doing a Martin Luther King Day tribute every January since they opened their business. Last year, Maude Bruce from the NAACP was their honorary speaker, as well as Ed Lewis (Juma). So you and the Hein's are not the only "enlightened" people out there. People in District One (Rochester, Wawarsing, Ellenville) know how supportive the Bernardo's are of all groups. Of course the Bernardo's would never use something like this for their own advancement as you are for Hein. They are sincere people. Using this to further Hein's political career is so very shallow and of you.

In case you aren't going to post this. I'm going to buy the insurance that Ulster Politics is offering.

Sir, not everything is political.

Blaber's right. Not everything is political. Congrats to the local NAACP.

Now if only the national NAACP would honor all successful African-Americans and not just those whose politics they agree with.

Clarence Thomas, Alan Keyes, JC Watts, Condoleeza Rice, Michael Steele. Just a few examples.

How come there's no mention of today being Flag Day?

Your masthead says "# 1 in Ulster County Politics"

Aside from being an empty boast (and an exaggeration), I wonder where people would get the idea that one of your posts is political?

1045- Happy Flag Day.

1047- This is a political blog but not everything has to be politically motivated.

Then why mention all the politicians that went with you on your political blog. Why don't you just say that you (Jeremy Blaber) went. Why bring the Alderman and Hein family into it?

Why even mention it on your # 1 in Ulster County Politics...Fair and Balanced blog if it's not political.

And by the way... Fair and Balanced is the Fox News slogan.... Isn't that sort of a strange choice for a Democrat like you?

Honestly, sometimes when you mention that someone like an Alderman, Police Chief or someone else's involvement in an organization it can encourage others to join. That was my thinking if you must know. As for the slogan: I'm sticking with it.

If everything isn't political, then tell me -- how many years prior to Hein's candidacy did he support this event? Or is this the first time he attended?
