Supervisor Quigley In His Own Words

warning this contains very explicit language

Last week Eric Kitchen attacked Ulster Democrats and former Supervisor Nick Woerner in what now has become t-shirt gate. I wrote a factual post defending former Supervor Woerner and attacking Republican councilman Eric Kitchen. I made a point to mention in that post that Kitchen should be more like Supervisor Quigley and keep partisan politics out of town board meetings. Matter of fact this blog has been very friendly to Jim Quigley, I have refused negative comments bashing the Supervisor and have done positive stories on his administration. While Quigley is a Republican, I have had in the past a close friendship with him.

However, I would say 10-15 minutes of me putting up the post about Kitchen, he called me and left a pretty harsh voicemail..to put it mildly. I took the down the post and attempted to call the Supervisor to explain my position. He wouldn't take my call. That's his choice, I wrestled with posting this voicemail but I think it's important. An elected official should NEVER try to stifle the free flow of information. The town of Ulster is not owned by Jim Quigley, he was elected by the people to run the town and when a Councilman makes controversial remarks and accusations at a public meeting you can bet people are going to talk about it.

The fact of the matter is Eric Kitchen was wrong and what he said in the newspaper was simply untrue and I called him out on it. It's regretful Supervisor Quigley feels that I do not have a right to comment on town politics.

Tell Quigley to worry about getting the 17% property tax increase in line and to stay off of the blogs. Maybe if he spent more time working on the budget and less time playing big shot politician, he would be better off.

are you kidding me? That's pretty bad, he owes everyone an appology.

I think many of us have taken turns being mad at you Blaber, but speaking to someone like that is disturbing.
This is the elected leader of a municipality addressing a 22 year old Blogger.
Rule number one: Don't threaten someone by voice-mail if you don't want it to get around. Especially if it ends up on the Blogger's phone.

So stupid.

Anonymous said...

We have also all taken our time being mad at Hugh Reynolds or a Freeman editorial but we do not tell them what they can or can not write.

Look how Paladino acted toward Fred Dicker, it's just not acceptable.

Anonymous said...

OMG....how rude to threaten someone to burn his A$$ and the dirty mouth..since when is a it shirt order T.O.U. politics??? really stop watching Woerner and do your job watching the T.O.U. This is like high school.

Anonymous said...

Wow, is this the best face voters of the Town of Ulster want to represent them. Talk about being a bully, Quigly is a disgrace. That tape will be played over and over for next yrs election.

Jeremy Blaber said...

Well that's not the intent to hurt the guys reelection camapaign. Just making a point, it's not ok to try and stop free speech. Certianly not worth defending a loser like Eric Kitchen.

Anonymous said...

Jeez, Blaba blab, what is he gunna do if you don't listen to him? Take you to East Kingston and have you swimmin with the fishes???

Anonymous said...

wow!

Anonymous said...

You know I always thought there was something fishy with that Quigley! This is so far out of line! He should resign his office. This is no way for a public official to act!

Anonymous said...

Respect for Quigley level. yesterday 10 -- today 0.

No one should threaten another person for any reason.

Now we know how he got his millions, he bullied his way there.

Anonymous said...

At least it was on a private voice mail and not right in the middle of the Board of Elections office. Ya think?

Where was the call for resignation after that?

Anonymous said...

To paraphrase what the Paladino campaign said to Dicker, you work for Hein!!! You know politics and are good at it but you use it for bad and that is wrong JB. You just made Mike Hein very happy. And to Quigley what were you thinking talking to anyone like that?

Anonymous said...

Nick Woerner was not such a bad guy after all, he is no longer associated with that scumbag Aaron and is trying to make a living as a private citizen. Quigley has been a bully for way too long. Jeremy you know what you did to Nick was wrong but even after all of that I know he was there for you when you needed help. That is the test of a leader and someone who is decent. Quigley start packing you stuff, 12% tax increase, 11 less police officers, forcing out of a cop's cop in Paul Watzka, no economic development. Time to go Jimmy, time to go!

Anonymous said...

I can't believe this voicemail. I regret to say that I have supported Quigley in the past. I'm going to have to rethink my position.

Anonymous said...

If you are referring to what was said to maloney, it is apples and oranges. He said it in a normal voice which most of the people in the room DID NOT hear. He said it directly to his face. It was not in the middle of a 30 second cursing tirade where threats were made to another person. He said one curse to the guy who many people think deserved it. ya think?

There was a call for resignation from that hypocrite rich cahill.

Anonymous said...

Mr. Quigley do you think the
$300,000 you gave to Coleman absolves you of this sin or was it the $100,000 you gave to Ulster Hose to buy their votes?

Anonymous said...

I hear that there has been a press conferance called for 5pm at Town Hall. rumor is Quigley has had enough.

Anonymous said...

Now the real Jim Quigley comes out. He was the little fat kid that was picked on in school. Now hes the big fat kid with money, When the people get to know him, they will find out hes just a Pompass Arrogant A--H---.

Anonymous said...

Did you by any chance check the legality of posting a taped phone conversation publicly for use as public embarassment? You might have just paid for Quigley's next campaign.

-Judge Judy

Anonymous said...

New York is a one party state when it comes to recording phone calls. Further this was a voicemail and Mr. Quigley knew it was being recorded and saved!

Anonymous said...

3:12 is correct. But it is how the recording is used that counts.

Anonymous said...

In New York, only one party has to know that a conversation is being recorded.

Anonymous said...

The phone call should be used to expose the phony that Quigley really is. This isn t the first phone call that he has threatened people, just the first one that was recorded.

Anonymous said...

Hey qUiGLY, nah nah nah nah, nah nah nah nah, hey hey hey goodbye!!!

"You burned your last ******* bridge"

"Stay the **** out of Town of Ulster Politics"

Cause Nickki Woerner "is gonna burn your ******* ASS!"

Anonymous said...

Maybe Quigley should let the Nuns at St. Coleman H.S. listen to his nice mouth, or bring the tape to Father Burke next time the hypocrite goes to St. Marys

Anonymous said...

Yuck- Quigley sounds like a low life. I thought he was more professional than that.

Anonymous said...

Nickie Woerner is done in Ulster no matter what Quigley does. He moved out of town and I hope he never comes back.

Anonymous said...

Jimmy Q.....what goes around comes around and your "round" has come very "Quigley"....umm...quickly....lol...no pun intended...oh wait....yes there was!

Anonymous said...

5:48 The fair and balanced dialog is on Ulster is Your Town Too blog, where the comments aren't filtered by Blaber.

Anonymous said...

Mike Hein must be saying, "Thank you, God"........

Anonymous said...

I don't know how much Quigley was stifling free speech or just pissed at Blaber. I do agree with you, Jeremy - Eric Kitchen is an idiot. He shouldn't be on any town board making decisions that affect the taxpayers.

Anonymous said...

Blaber got his feelings hurt by the message and is lashing out. You ALWAYS do this. Why don't you accept two things, not everyone will like you. You have to make sure everyone loves you, it wont happen and Quigley used you. This thing with Quigley would have blown over if you didnt overreact. Although, Jim Quigley messed up, you do not talk to people like that.

Anonymous said...

Just because Quigley has some money, he thinks he is better than everyone. His arrogants will catch up with him, if it hasn t already...and for Mr Kitchen, hes a joke, and a pothead ...

Anonymous said...

an arrogant ass and a pothead running the Town of Ulster....wow! We have bigger problems that a 17% tax increase !!! BTW...I understand Mr. Kitchen is on the town's recreation committee...do we REALLY want a drug user on a committee involving our children????!!!!

Anonymous said...

This reflects poorly on Jim Quigley, no question. And he should apologize, personally to Blaber and to the residents of the Town of Ulster. Dreadful, impetuous behavior, probably fueled by a cocktail -- or 3 -- given the hour the call was made. But let's not forget, folks, the crew that's gleefully high-fiving this incident tonight: Woerner, Zweben, Oliveri, Spada, Aaron, Zenefsky, Secreto, DeGrodt, Falutico, etc, etc.

I'm disappointed in Quigley, sure. But I'm nauseated by the thought of the people who are going to work his mistake to their sleazy advantage -- once again.

Ulster is Your Town Too, is run by Joe "the nose" Toscano! He is a paid agent of Jim Quigley and is a low life. Him and Quigley's other two musketers Vince "dirtbag" Guido and Joe "slumlord" Viviani are the reason why Jim Quigley's stay at Town Hall will be short lived. We can all give Bob "sofaking" Nylussay a break cause he's just stupid and was misslead by Quigley and company. But the other three horsemen of Quigley's apocalypse will bring him down along with this! Pack it up time to go. Mr. Quigley, write three letters!

onewhoknows said...

You realize Blaber is a profesional bullshiter that is how he makes a living. He can call himself a political consultant, more like a political whore. JB is just as ruthless and nasty as Quigley is being portrayed to be.

Anonymous said...

Three letters?

Is that the old political joke?

Guy gets elected to office and the guy before him hands him three letters. He tells him each time you have a major problem you open one letter in order.

First big problem he opens letter one, it says form a committee.

Second big problem he opens letter two, it says blame the last guy.

Third big problem he opens letter three, it says write three letters!

Quigley you did one and two, now its time for you do do number three, so write three leters!

Not true to the person that calls Jeremy nasty. You all think you know him but none of you really do! You live in Ulster with your little life and problems and come on this website for your little gossip and bash him behind his back. You all think he's your friend or enemy but it is all a persona. The tough guy that is "so ruthless" is really just a funny sweet guy with a big heart in real life. You wonder why no 20 somethins wanna vote or get involved with you guys. None of you get the fact that he was truly upset by "his friend" telling him he didnt want anything to do with him over something stupid on his website. I know the entire situation all to well and have had to hear it all week. This took place on Sat, he tried to reach out to Mayor Quigley and got no responce. Jeremy even deleted what he wrote to try and fix things. All you bitching at Jeremy need to grow up, I will never vote or get involved in politics if it is really this nasty.

Mr. Quigley's behabior only serves to prove that no matter how much money you have, it can't buy you class. If he can't make the good choice to control his temper and words, how can he make good choices for the Town of Ulster???? He should be able to control at LEAST himself even if he can't control politics!

Anonymous said...

You and Quigley are much alike, both stuborn and arrogant. To M.H., Blaber is no holds bared not really that sweet or nice. You are probably too young yet but look up Niccolo Machiavelli and that's your friend Jeremy. Maybe in private he is different but that's who he is.

Anonymous said...

yeah yeah enough of the Quig/Blaber love squable. Can we get back to what a moron Eric Kitchen is? This guy is a real dummy who should not be in office. I remember when he used to deliver me the wrong pizza all the time. Pepperoni brotha not mushroom, silly Eric. You could blindfold him with dental floss his eyes were so messed up looked like he was high or something.

This is the real Quigley that the voters never knew about, but lots of other people that had deals with him knew his true personality.

Jim Quigley just stepped in a whole bunch of shit. Go to his office and you ll find Eric, John and Cris cleaning it off. unless the boys from ulster hose already hosed him down .

10:00am anonymous, it was the lanuage the people were upset about, give me a break about a threat
Remember we have free speech, because someone used the word "don't" to you that's a threat. Come on! That's daily politics.

Anonymous said...

Quigley is just another example of what is wrong with politics, he is pompous, arrogant and enjoys pushing his way around.

He is screwing up the UPD, and other departments, he is ruining the moral by putting in charge and surrounding himself by "Yes Men"

Time to get real or get out

Catalano, Quigley, Maloney, and bernardo all cut from the same self serving mold. get rid of all of them and elect people willing to work for the public

Anonymous said...

Mr. Quigley was quoted in the Daily Freeman as saying, "this was no different than a father disciplining his son"... If he really talks to his son that way...ummm...CHILD ABUSE????? several things wrong here...in his taped message he says" I don't know you" and " I don't give a S**T about what happens to you, etc", but then he says in the Freeman that they had a father/son relationship. So which is it, Mr. Quigley...do you not know him or do you know him and talk to him in an abusive manner the way you would talk to your son???? Mr. Quigley deserves NO credit for owning up to his comments....he got caught redhanded and there was NO other option. He is a disgrace that let a smidgen of power go to his head!!!!!

Anonymous said...

I would bet all of Quigleys money that he never spoke that way to anyone in his family.

Anonymous said...

No one, absolutely no one should speak to another human being the way Quigley spoke to Mr. Blaber! Especially a person who holds public office and is paid by the taxpayers! Public officials should act professional at all times! If I had lived in the Town of Ulster and voted for Quigley, I would feel like I threw away my vote and wasted it. How disgusting for a man in his position to act. His comments in the Freeman today about his voice mail rampage was a sad attempt to save grace....father/son relationship! I'm calling my father tonight to thank him for being my father!!

Anonymous said...

I feel sorry for your children if you talk to them like that!!

no one is mentioning a clear cut case of aggravated harassment against mr. squigley-wiggly. if he owned a flame thrower and said he'd burn someone's ass there'd be call for alarm. is he a hot chili pepper jb's gonna eat? is he a fart-lighter about to get singed? get real people--politicians do not have the right to make idle threats trying to curtail another's constitutional rights—it’s supposed to be just the opposite. When quigley took the oath of office, he had to swear to uphold and support the federal and state constitutions. The tone of this was unbecoming a gentleman an elected official and a so-called friend at one time. The word “don’t” in this context coupled with the fucking f bomb makes for inelegant paladino-style tactics. Maybe both of them, paladino and quigley, will awake separately each with a horse’s head getting emotionally involved with some bestiality video star.

Quigley is not fit for office. Someone should step up and run against him...not Woerner.

Anonymous said...

Too funny, Blaber always asks for it but how stupid can someone be to put that on an answering machine. We need Hinchey to tell him to SHUT UP.

Why can't we have a supervisor like Carl Chipman of Rochester? He's so good at talking he can give our Quigley a lesson or two.

Anonymous said...

@11:24. Chipman might not have the pottymouth that Quigley has, but his politikin' was just as bad when he was first running for office. In fact, he had to apologize in front of the Democrats so that he could be considered for their endorsement when he was seeking re-election last year.

Anonymous said...

2:27, what r u talkin' bout? Carl Chipman is a Democrat. Check the voters' records, he switched to Republicians just before his first election.

Anonymous said...

what a putz

mbaden said...

4:06 I am certain Mr. Chipman is a Republican.
And as for his apologizing to Democrats, I'm not sure what you are talking about.
He did make a statement, but I certainly wouldn't call it an apology.
I can speak to this quite personally as I am the Democrat who nominated him at the Democratic Caucus in 2009 for Supervisor.
Carl Chipman proved his words by backing them up with actions and that is why he was nominated by the Democrats.
He may have stated that once in office he had a different perspective on his predecessor, but he made no apologies.
He has brought unity to a town that was bitterly divided and has accomplished much in his 3 years in office. All with a Board split with 3-2 Republican majority, yet the votes usually do not reflect that.
Oh, and one more little thing. Each of his budgets have come in with either a 0% tax increase or in the case of this year's budget a 0.5% increase.

JB,

I found this on the freeman blogspot:

First of all I’m a firm believer in the fullest use of freedom of speech to include the full “Carlin Seven” plus any other ones that seem to fit. Whatever words one needs to use to emphasize whatever the f one is trying to communicate should not be judged so severely in this late date in our history of the spoken word. The words are one thing the content of the message is a totally different thing. I mean WTFMF.
To assert your powers of logic while you committed the logical fallacy of a faulty comparison, shows your deficit disorder in that department. Many folks know who I am and I am not hiding behind the poet thing by choice—it sort of happened by mistake when I first signed on, so I simply decided to run with it to have some fun along with 95% of the rest of the posters here who don’t use their actual name.
Again, your tactic is an end run around with your ridiculous attempt to dismiss the nasty message left on a young man’s voice mail that dripped with such pathetic language that it made you try to compare him to the VP. Mr. Biden was a bit exuberant about the importance of the signing ceremony when he used the f word and he was happy not threatening or rotten-minded like Quigley. Just as Quigley is no Joe Biden, as far as bloggers go, you are no Jeremy Blaber, jbubel—only close in initials.
Your conservative view of truth and politics aside, you also made a false analogy; made a hasty generalization; and made an irrelevant conclusion. So then I brought in the real curse of American politics, Cheney, with his comment to Leahy. Thank the lord that the former VP’s aim was off when bird hunting, otherwise that would have been a huge cover-up for them to have worked on. so lets dismiss the random potshots and stick with the facts which speak for themselves—Quigley should resign in disgrace for what he did and then get arrested for aggravated harassment.
