Rooney Bombs In Front Of POJO Editorial Board

Peter Rooney has been nicknamed by voters in the 101st Assembly district as "Coward Rooney", the GOP candidate for assembly earned that nickname for ducking a serious of debates and forums with his opponent Assemblyman Kevin Cahill, well today Peter confirmed what everyone suspected, the reason he is ducking our Assemblyman is because he does not have a clue. Rooney who has run an extremely negative and untruthful campaign, bombed at a recent appearance before the editorial board of the Poughkeepsie Journal. I have some funny quotes that I will post tomorrow but it's pretty bad. The guy has no basic understanding of the issues, none at all! He comes across as a fool and is just not ready for prime time...not by a long shot.

Below is the video, I think it behooves everyone to watch it. The sound quality is not great and it is a good 4o minutes but it's worth watching. Again, I will embed the video and take out some quotes tomorrow. I will note it's better and easier to watch this after a few drinks.

Wow this guy is an idiot. Reminds me of Hinchey's performance.

I saw Rooney and Cahill debate last night hosted by the LWV. Kevin Cahill had a firm grasp on the issues and was head and shoulders above Rooney. Rooney had no idea what he was doing, was arrogant, and parroted Larkin and Bonacic because he didn't know the answers. He can spend all he wants, but you don't cut your teeth as a state legislator. Start with your town board and work your way up.

Is this a surprise? He is a character, not a real person. The Republicans put up a persona, not an organic being.

At what point will Rooney see he has been had by his own party both in Ulster County and in Albany? P.T. Barnum is enjoying this one. He is spending money hand over fist and it is painfully clear to Democrats, Republicans and Independents that he is not fit to serve.

Seems like a decent guy, but he is no match for Cahill.

Why not cover the debate he had with Cahill last night?

4:41, You better check with Rooney if you think someone should cover what Rooney did at the MHA debate. The one time he answered a question first, he stood silently for a very awkward 15 - 30 second. He finally managed to get a few words out that made no sense at all, then did not use all his allotted time. He clearly had no idea what to say.
I agree that he parroted Larkin and Bonacic, many times he repeated off topic answers to questions, delivering a message that was clearly devised for incumbent Senate Republicans, and not a so called outsider.

Rich Cahill's blog post about this event is complete and utter nonsense. I was there as a neutral observer, trying to get answers on where they stand on Mental Health issues. I did not see it the way Rich Cahill did. I don't know where he got all that nonsense about people yelling at Kevin, that did not happen.

He hung around trying to get people to say bad things about Kevin but the only ones who listened to him were his group.

Blabber, is that a picture of Rooney's illegal Rt 9W fireworks repository going up in flames a few months ago???

11:06,

I was there too. Kevin Cahill did lose his cool. He stood over Rooney and yelled. It was very unprofessional.

I must conclude that you sir are Brian Cahill, Kevin's brother. Your insistence that Kevin did not lose his cool must come from a partisan or a relative.

Sir, its quite clear to me that you don't listen. You only react.

The Poughkeepsie Journal endorsed Peter Rooney today.

Its too bad you can't see the forest through the trees.

Per moderator, she requested no clapping until after the debate. Whenever Cahill spoke there was cheering and clapping from family and friends in the back. And then he mumbled a dig about another politician who was standing in the back who happened to be a friend of Rooney. Rooney called him on it and Cahill reared his head up and stood. Lost his cool and smug demeanor. At least we got a break from all of the platitudes that came from Kevin's mouth.

THE FACTS:

Rooney was the one who lost his cool. Cahill only did what politicians always do, recognizing other politicians in the room.

Cahill did not stand up and hover over Rooney. He took some papers from a folder and responded to Rooney's "cheap shot" comment.

There was applause for various comments throughout the night for answers from different panelists (Dole and Bonacic got some applause too, though Cahill got more).

The other blogger with the same last name as Cahill has a history of making stuff up. That is where the "losing his cool" crap started. Here, he was trying to capitalize on the controversy surrounding Hinchey and the reporter in Saugerties.

How difficult is that to see? Move on to important stuff.

Jeremy,

How many of the anonymous comments are little dickhead Cahill with the use of 'sir' and the arrogant bull he tosses around--makes you wonder how easy it really is to get a law degree when you have no real tact or humility or human kindness in your bones only self-assuredness based on entitlement.

I was at that debate at MHA and little dicky's blog comments were wrong on a few accounts. When the list of things that Kevin had on Rooney was brought out of his pocket they were both seated. more to come.

They are all little cahill, I think he is jealous of Kevin.

Alrighty then--this is an excerpt from the little dicky cahill blog spot that garnered 2, count 'em, 2 comments, so I didn't bother to send him mine after not reading or responding to any blogs for months and knowing he wouldn't post mine with the truth in print in front of his paranoid eyes--and I use the word paranoid in the kindest way--one with delusional thinking involving fear, obsession, feeling persecuted and having a glorified self-image to counter the other ones.

"There was a candidate's forum at Mental Health Associates in Kingston earlier this evening. Present were Peter Rooney, Kevin Cahill, Bill Larkin, Harley Doles, and John Bonacic. Mr. Spader was invited, but chose not to attend.

The event went nicely with little fanfare. Kevin's brother Brian and a few supporters cheered loudly every time Kevin cleared his throat. Nevertheless, there was nothing of great note until the very end.

Peter Rooney took exception to a comment made by Kevin. It seems an Assemblyman from Long Island was present at the event who happens to support Rooney. Kevin commented about it and said something along the line that Rooney's campaign needed the help. It was a classless remark, but not an earth shattering comment.

Mr. Rooney said he though it was "a cheap shot" because the Assemblyman was not helping him because of politics but because he happens to be a personal friend. Kevin immediately reached into his pocket and pulled out a series of papers. He stood up and began to yell at Rooney, "You want to talk about cheap shots, Peter.?!"

He said something else, but I could not hear him because numerous people in the room yelled for Kevin to be quiet and let Rooney finish his remarks. Finally, the moderator politely asked Kevin to sit down, which he did. There were no further incidents.

As I comment about this, I have to be very clear that I am not objective when it comes to Kevin. He stuck his nose in my father's race for Alderman last year and he stuck his nose in my first race for Alderman in 1993. He also disrespected my grandfather and lied to my grandmother about it, which is much more egregious to me than the political stuff. As such, there is a great deal of personal animosity between Kevin and I. I do not like the man. Despite this, I will try to be as objective as I can.

First, it was obvious that Kevin planted friends and family in the audience to applaud his every syllable..."

There was more of the usual dickie drivel but that's enough. Now I wrote the following and chose to send it here to Jeremy's blog spot where integrity and truth rule the roost, not where bullshit walks over there in Cahill on Kingston--so here goes with what I said: in 2 parts since too much is in total.

10:22. He wants to be the popular Cahill in Kingston.

For some reason, he is a very bitter person who hates anyone who he disagrees with. He is like a spoiled little brat who doesn't get his way. If it isn't Keven Cahill, it is Jim Sottile, or Jeremy Blaber or Joe and Ellen Difalco, or Maurice Hinchey or ..... you get the picture.
What a miserable little prick. He has the perfect name.
