Cahill Making Another Run

Developing : I have it on good authority a big announcement will be forthcoming this evening by Rich Cahill who will be a guest on Right Time Radio on WKNY from 6-630pm. I am under the assumption he will be announcing his candidacy for Mayor of the city of Kingston.

Rich Cahill will be the first candidate on the Republican side to declare for Mayor. Kingston Alderman Ron Polacco is also expected to be gearing up for a run.

God help Kingston this guy is all about his self

Good, he has my vote. If Tuco Levin or Polacco is the nominee I am voting for Shayne Gallo.

Anonymous said...

He is wearing red Wadnola's tie! Do the Republicans pass that tie around for pictures?

On a serious note, if this guy makes it out of the primary, it will be a miracle. He is really an annoying, abrasive person who has no idea how much even his supposed political friends dislike him. He will be in for a rude awakening when the final tally is counted.

Ron Palacco is another joke, he is very lazy, knows nothing about being a manager and would be in so far over his head it isn't even funny. His name and family will get him some early action, but when all is said and done, he is not the right person to be mayor.

The only chance the Republicans have is with Andi Turco-Levin. She is smart, has business experience, gets along with people and will steal votes from the Dems because she is a nice person and a woman. Put her side to side with Cahill or Palacco and she kicks their candy asses from one of Broadway to the other.

Jeremy please when you post your journalism please report the facts accordng to recent articles in local papers. I announced my Mayoral Candidacy from the start and have been posting the same ever since.

Anonymous said...

Please define Andi Turco Levin's business and financial experience?
Has she ever managed people and a budget of 34 million plus. Are you for real? She has been away for over 20 years and comes back to take over the CITY OF KINGSTON.
Do you really think the community is this stupid?

Jeremy Blaber said...

Jean, yes, I forgot you had made it official. I'm sorry.

Anonymous said...

10:20 Turco-Levin has been back for awhile. At least she was born here and has ties to Kingston. That cannot be said for Hayes Clement who until he ran for alderman had never registered to vote in the City of Kingston. Me thinks he used the alderman role for a stepping stone for Mayor.
Andi is business smart and has a grasp on what ails Kingston.

And yes, the community is stupid for voting for the same clowns who have been in control for quite awhile long before Andi entered the political arena.

Shocker there. This whole thing is going to turn into a very entertaining three ring circus. Unfortunately, at the end of the day the joke is only going to be on us regardless of who wins out of this crew. And please do not ever forget Ms. Jacobs.

Cahill is not the first Republican candidate to announce his run for mayor. The daily paper did an indepth article back in January of the potential candidates. While most of them were on the fence reserving final comment, Jean Jacobs announced her run and indeed would primary anyone who got in her way. You corrected yourself, and that was an honorable thing to do. With all due respect, Ms. Jacobs is the one who has the credentials, hometown connection and the absolute desire to serve her community for the people, unselfishly. Can't wait to hear that segment of the radio show. The lines will be ringing off the hook, no doubt.

6:45 or should I say Mike Gill,

Rich Cahill is a far better candidate than you think. He knows the issues very well. He would do am excellent job.

I agree with you about Ron.

As for Andi, she's an excellent running mate, but she's not ready for Mayor.

As for you, Mike, you sound like you need a vacation. Perhaps all those DJ parties with those teeneyboppers is causing you too much stress. Relax.

Cahill, Jacobs, Polacco, Levin, quite an impressive lot.
Add them all together and they do not have the qualifications, street smart, campaign experience or community roots Shayne brings to the table. As time passes and the landscape becomes more and more clear, Shayne is looking more and more mayoral by the day.

Anyone that votes for Rick Cahill needs their head examined. He ranks as one of the top 5 narcissist in local politics.

#1 Mike Hein
#2 Rick Cahill
#3 Nick Woerner
#4 Elliot Auerbach
#5 Len Bernardo

There are those that live here because of no other choice, there are those who were born here, then there are those who make a conscientious decision to live here in Kingston when they could live in any other place in the State. That is Hayes Clement. I support Hayes because of his business and marketing background. We are so lucky he has chosen Kingston as his home.

Anonymous said...

Sorry that I don't feel lucky that Hayes Clement has chosen to come save us. We are not stupid and dont need saving, we have plenty of bright people here that can do the job.

Anonymous said...

please tell us what marketing and business experience Hayes has that is relevant in an way.

Many have tried and failed to rejuvenate the local economy by relying on artists and intellectuals to discover our community and all of a sudden decide to invest their assets here. It has not worked in the past, it won't work now and it is not an economic development plan.

The truth is that he has no relevant experience, no viable vision for this city, and no experience or connections to get through a city campaign in a community dominated by people whose roots go back centuries.

Democrats beware, support Hayes at your peril, he is the only candidate who would lose to Cahill.

Anonymous said...

Hayes is certainly a competent man. He is bright, articulate, and carries himself with dignity and respect. He will bring a level of professionalism to the office if elected that has not been seen in a long, long time.

Shayne Gallo is also a bright, articulate, competent man.He too is well suited for the office. He could handle the job with no problems, he is educated, and knows the ropes.

The issue becomes a very simple one. Do we want to take a chance on a new person with virtually no legacy issues, or do we elect a man who has paid some dues and has for the most part, never known anything but City Hall. They offer a diametric choice. It should be interesting.

One thing that should be avoided at all costs though, is neither of these men deserve to be ridiculed, called names or have their names dragged through the mud.

They should be commended for stepping up to try and take on this thankless responsibility.

Kingston will be in good hands with either of them.

Anonymous said...

1:52 Politicians are not magicians, there is no silver bullet. If it was that easy to revive a city that is like hundreds of others in the North East, it would be bottled and sold.

The idea is to take advantage of the evolution of Kingston and not to ignore it. If the creative community finds Kingston as attractive as most of us do or at least used to, then why not make it as inviting as possible for them to come here? The property taxes get paid, they bring some jobs which is better than no jobs, and it adds to an already important and diverse cultural experience.

I would not criticize anyone for embracing the creative community. To the contrary, I would admonish them for not!

Anonymous said...

What a handsome man!

Anonymous said...

Hayes is a nice guy, but please don't try to act like he is the second coming of Bloomberg. The guy is trying to make his experience sound like it is relevant to running a city, but I am not seeing it. He was the editor for a tennis magazine? Huh? How does that mean he will be an effective mayor. I agree with the poster above, I have had enough of people coming to Kingston telling me that we are going to get the artists and the intellectuals to "discover" Kingston and make it the new SOHO. We have heard it enough without any results for a decade. That is not putting jobs in the area, lowering my taxes or decreasing crime. We need someone with a definable plan and I don't see Hayes as having one.

Anonymous said...

Not for nothing, I have not heard a word from anyone, not one word on what they will do to "bring jobs" or prevent or reduce crime. So if we are going to judge one that way, we judge them all that way.

As an aside, name the industries that have grown in the area in last 10 years. I'll help, Creative and Solar, yet they take the most abuse from posters on these boards. Unless and until someone comes up with a better plan, let's support what is working, no matter what it is.

Wow, check out the new head shot Rich put up on his his blog, his forehead is bigger than a Kansas prairie!!

I hope he spent a lot of money for that picture, and that he uses it on all his campaign material!!

12:55 you hit it right on the head. Not necessarilyin that order you could easily shuufle that deck and lose big time. Ask anyone one of them and they will tell you how great they are

I don't know what you people base your facts on in saying that Pollaco is lazy. Is it because he doesn't run to the paper with sound bites, or that he tries to keep all constituents happy( rep. and dem.) He is not out there making imflammatory remarks about every scandal that is being uncovered. Perhaps he is going about his job without looking for recognition. Guess that makes him lazy if he is not out making news or inane decisions based on knee jerk reactions.
Educational wise he has the degree to run a city- I believe he has a degree in Business Administration.I think that trumps a marketing degree, a lawyer and a real estate license.
The individuals who have announced their candidacy are good but not always the ones to run a city and bring a certain PR perspective to get Kingston noticed for the good things it has to offer.

Anonymous said...

Cahill announced. He sounded pretty good and had some excellent ideas.

Anonymous said...

Cahill has hired himself a out-of-town campaign manager, ...that knows nothing about kingston. lol

The city of Kingston's corruption in the school district and corruption in the county are FINALLY coming to light. We need an HONEST person to clean house. Although the media have painted Ms Jacobs in a poor light (thanks to fools like Hugh Reynolds), she does have financial experience.

She also served as BOE pres when she and others realized that there was "good ol boy " corruption going on then. It was reported to the state. The community, sadly, wanted to hang in there and believe the same old crew.....the nepotism, those who are part of the "in crowd".

This is someone who has been involved in the community for 30 yrs and is as honest as the day is long. I hope our town finally wakes up and stops putting the same old, same old, back into the mix.

Anonymous said...

Gallo/Koenig...that sounds good to me!

Rick Cahill is such a fool, he must actually think that picture that makes him look like a TV preacher is good! I swear anyone who does not have enough common sense to see how ridiculous he looks in that photo, should not be given a position of authority.

Quigley is doing o.k. so far, but lets see how stumbling, bumbling councilman Eric Kitchen does this season with up coming election. The non-taxpaying, buzzed councilman will more than likely have problems getting re-elected if the dems. put up someone that is viable against him. Furthermore, the other dumbells that serve on the council in T of U leave a little something to be desired also!

Anonymous said...

6:45 AM couldn't be M. Gill, not in his lifetime. You know, you know.

i hope the republican party is wise enough not to back a loser like cahill i know if they do im switching to the dems cahill is about himself and is such a phony we need real honest people to run the city not him

6:38,

Name ANY piece of legislation Polacco has ever submitted. You will not be able to because he has NEVER done so. He votes no and that's it.

He has no depth or understanding of the issues. He can throw out platitudes, but that's it.

He has ZERO chance of becoming Mayor.

Anonymous said...

How stupid is Polacco?? He scheduled his fundraiser for the same night as the big school board meeting on Meagher School. Part of his ward is in that district.

Obviously, he just does not give a damn.

Anonymous said...

9;38, you're right! Kitchen is such a big dummy, how could you not pay your taxes for 3 years in a row and then claim all is well because you finally paid up? The taxpayers are not that stupid to buy that bogus excuse.

Anonymous said...

3:02: Sure hope you are going to the school board meeting since you obviously are not going to the fundraiser. That seemed to be a very important issue for you.

Jack Meoffer said...

I'm for term limits.... NONE for Rich Cahill ;)

12:48. Lets see what the democrats have brought in the way of resolutions to the table... Cats legislation, stop sign debacle vs traffic light uptown Kingston, garage sales permits, parking meters. I can probably think of a few more inane pieces of legislation. If that is all the Dems have brought to the table perhaps it is better that Polacco waits for a really serious issue before diving in to that cesspool of ideas.

What is your problem people? You still look to the old guard to solve the problems of the 21st century. Why do you keep looking to the past political people, who are the problem, to lead Kingston out of a third world city? Shane Gallo is not T.R.period. Jacobs is a has been, failed on the school board, discrased Rep. City chair. Lets face it, she is not a Tony Sinagra. What about Abel Garagahn ( sorry if i miss spelled). Why? He is a very prominate leader in Ulster Countys business community, has experience with personal, budgets, a community leader, and has served on the board of Enterprise Zone. And best of all, he is not a politican. His Dad was, but Abel is free from the Machines that rule Kingston. I just put his name up so that maybe others will consider people who are every day hands on leaders and not political hacks.

Poastmaster General said...

3,791-2,689 in '07 tells me that boy wonder Cahill has ZERO chance of winning. I think Timmy Matthews could beat him. And I think a convicted felon could be mayor? Phil Cosme ran for Mayor? So, lets say, Mikey Jr. pushes Timmy to take the deal because dopey Carnright actually charges him with several big ass douple dipping felonies and he's facing Sirhan-Sirhan prison time....ok, so he takes the deal, pleas to a few felonies, and serves no jail time and gets to keep the pension. Being Mayor would rake in $300,000 over 4 years...not $770,000 over 3 years, but look, even Derek Jeter had to take a pay cut in these recessive times, right? Of course, the caveat here is that our favorite cop has to run as a DEMOCRAT, and be their delegate to secure the position. Not so easy with everyone else lining up for one of the only jobs in Kingston that pays above $10.00 per hour....actually, I read a story where they held a job fair at the crappy Monticello racino for 10 low-pay open positions, and 500 people showed up to apply...Why doesn't half the city run for Mayor? Count me in!! Oh, wait.. I don't live in the city.. whew..

where does Mr.Polacco work?

Anonymous said...

Poastmaster,

Do Kingston a favor. Don't ever move here.

Anonymous said...

Abel is free from the Machines Really? Absolutely laughable statement. If you believe that, I have a bridge to sell you. He is the king of manipulating the machine.

Rich Cahill has already lost. Why don't people close to him tell this guy the truth? He has no chance and he is really very, very unpopular. If you ain't popular, you ain't winning!

Anonymous said...

cahill could'nt run a checker game rich stick to bull sh--ing people thats what your good at

Anonymous said...

7:19,

Good thing Abe Lincoln didn't think like you. He lost lots of elections.

Just because Cahill lost does not mean he can't win. Dick White lost and came back to win the next time.

Anonymous said...

Sir, I served with Dick White and Dick Cahill is no Dick White!

Anonymous said...

So now Rick Cahill is comparing himself to Abe Lincoln? Where does this narcissism end?

5-4-3-2-1 ---- Cahill will post and say that wasn't him, but we all know better don't we?

Ron Polacco For Mayor!
Shayne Gallo For Mayor!
Jean Jacobs For Mayor!
Hayes Clement Fro Mayor!
Andi Turco-Levin For Mayor!

anyone but Cahill For Mayor!

Anonymous said...

Isn't it interesting that the most comments you have gotten on anything in recent weeks is this article.

Whether you love him or hate him, you have to admit that Cahill gets people talking.

Anonymous said...

We all know that 11:51 is one of the DiFalcos, probably Ellen because there are limited spelling errors.

Anonymous said...

1:33, First of all most people hate him, so let's get that out of the way. I think people are commenting out of fear that he has a chance to make the ballot in a multi-candidate primary. There are enough uninformed people in Kingston who vote blindly for someone without really knowing why they are voting for them. This clown was on tv each week for years spewing garbage. Uneducated and uninformed people will vote for him because they think they are his friend only because they saw him on TV. Sad but very, very true.

Anonymous said...

I am trying to imagine how upset you'll be if Cahill wins.

Anonymous said...

12:27, He won't win. The only people who think he will win are those blind, narrow minded neo-cons who cling to a 1950's mentality.

Anonymous said...

I don't care what you democrats think. Cahill will be an excellent Mayor. He's exactly what we need right now.
