The Race of 2011: Hein v Quigley??

Rumor is Jim Quigley is actively looking at a run for County Executive against Democrat Mike Hein this November.

The first term Supervisor will have his hands full against the very popular Mike Hein, who has done all the right things and proved himself to have a top notch pr team that even Obama would be envious of.

However, Jim Quigley has the money, credentials and a good pr machine of his own. There was a little known legislator named Ed Mangano that was considered a long shot against my friend Tom Suozzi in Nassau county last year and Mangano pulled off the upset becoming Executive.

Quigley will have to overcome the 19% tax hike he proposed his first year and the 10% hike that actually passed in the town. By comparison Mike Hein proposed and passed a budget that had a zero percent increase.

For some insight on how serious Quigley is, he already has meetings set up with town Republican committees about running.

Well he's doing a really good job of lying and fucking up the Town of Ulster! Mike Hein should be so lucky. Quigley turned out to be nothing more than a flash in the pan. He is never at Town Hall, he can't govern and the the lies he has told an continues to tell about Woerner have gotten old. He knows he can't get re-elected Supervisor so he is looking for an escape. Jim here's an idea for you, save the 300k you will waste against Hein and do us all a favor and resign!

My question is, if Quigley wins, will he continue to blame weorner.

Jeremy start going to the source and ask Quigley don't get your news from Mario he is a has been again

He couldn't beat Auerbach. How's he gonna beat Hein?

10:41 stole my line. Maybe the republicans can run Fawn Tantillo. Roger Rasco could spend more of the Republican money and help with fundraising. I'm sure Len would support her and Gaddy there you go the three of them could hold her up

Wanna get rid of Quigley? let him run against Hein. He will get his ample head handed to him.

Quigley could win if...

Hein doesn't run, as to gear up for his eventual Congressional Run. The DEMS put up Susan Zimet as Exec.

Anything's possible..

Maybe this is his way to bow out of Ulster and save face.
Run in an election he knows he can't win. Because isn't his Supervisor's position up as well this year? Or does Ulster have a 4 year term? Anybody know?
And does the thought of Quigley in office make Florida Freddy reconsider running again?
If this is true (Quigley running) it could have some pretty significant influences on the Legislative races.

Zimet would be challenged from within the Democratic party, and Hein is not going anywhere anyway.

If there is an opening in this congressional district, there will be a bull rush of Democrats to fill it. Don't forget, Hinchey's district is pretty widespread, lot's of people in other counties, not to mention people from Ulster County would be interested. Hein would not be anointed.

The biggest influence on the Legislative races will be redistricting. Quigley will run for Supervisor or nothing.

Dems are praying its Quigley. This guy is so full of himself. We will finally send him back where he belongs, in NYC. The Democats will come out in droves supporting Mike Hein, the best thing that ever happened to UC.

7:01 - Ulster does have 2-year terms for supervisor, and Quigley is up for re-election. Maybe he knows that he'll lose if someone runs against him (either in a primary or in the general elections). So, he takes on a race he knows he can't win but he can justify it. I think he's crazy to go up against Hein - he'll be humiliated like he humiliated Woerner. On the other hand, that's one way to get rid of him. Who wants to run for supervisor out in the Town of Ulster?

Quigley will give Hein a much more difficult time than people think.

He is popular in conservative circles, volunteer fireman, and with the businessman. He is also not one of the good old boys. I can see a carry over from the last election helping him. A lot of Hein's previous supporters (Republicans) will go for Quigley this time. Bernardo was an irritating outsider who was not a legitimate option, Quigley is.

What's your rate on running that camapaign?

Anonymous said...

Hein ran the year of the Obama stemroller. He won't have that this year. The election this year will be different.

"There was a little known legislator named Ed Mangano that was considered a long shot against my friend Tom Suozzi in Nassau county last year and Mangano pulled off the upset becoming Executive."

Kinda sounds like your boy Quigley - Punchline Mangano Fucked up Nassau County just like Quigley is doing to Ulster! People of Ulster don't be fooled Quigley needs to go far far far away! We can't afford his insanity!

Since when is Quigley not a good old boy? He takes his orders from Mario. All of those town of Ulster officials( Wadnola, Maloney etc.) have no opinoins they just do as told. If Quigley runs it is because Mario told him to. Don't they realize Catalano is a has been and destroyed the little momentum the Republicans had

How do we know that Hinchey's district will exist after reapportionment? NYS is losing two congressional seats. With redistricting it may not look the same if it survives.

9:58 What are you smoking? Sqigley the 3rd is not a GOOD OLD BOY? Come on, get real. He has been the treasuer of the Ulster GOP for how long? How many GOP were elected thanks to his money and Peter the Savago or Borgia's, Macheavleain's methods. As a resident of the Town of Ulster I realy hope he runs for U. C. Exect. It would the best thing that has happened to our goverment since Labarge did not run for re-election.All Suigley III has done is to blame Woerner for every problem in the town. Why is it that this finacial knugle drager gives us tax increase after tax increase. Its is so simple to understand. Jim the 3rd is a finacial banker. Thats right, you kno , the ones who killed our ecconomy. Thats rigt, look it up on the internet. So why are we so shocked by his lack of understanting municiple operations. Is he at town hall? NO.
Does he have a leadership skills? Hell no. I do no think that Its my way or the High way is how you can effectivley govern a small town. And what about the way the best Town police chief we ever had. Driven out of office by the egotistical simpleton that sits as head of my towns goverment.
And how about our town board. Wow, I thought Kingston had some menatale midgets for alderman. I was so wrong, I think that we have some real mentaly chalanged board members. My God Kitchen?
Its always suny in the T/U

9:58, the "insiders" have done such an awesome job at running Ulster County into the ground. You insiders are to be commended for being so good at what you do - uuuhhh... running shit into the ground. An extra special Pride of Ulster County for you! Make sure you keep keeping all the outsiders on the outside.

I like Jim Q. alot. Hes a good and decent man, serving in a difficult job in difficult times. I doubt he will run for re-election in Ulster, but there can be no doubt that Mike Hein will be re-elected our Exec. It is apparent tht Jim will not run for re-election and he will retire from public life- perhaps, for a time. Blaber's blog helped destroy the public reputation of a good and decent man- why? To make JB feel justified in betraying a father figure? To advance the political interests of Nick Woener? Anyway, for 2011: The GOP will suffer a totally humiliating election cycle for the second year in a row. They will rethink their support of GOP Chair Robin Yess, who seems to have a nack for snatching defeat from the jaws of certain victory.

Is the Town of Ulster ready for Supervisor Morrow or Supervisor Secrato?

Anonymous said...

902 one is ignorant and the other is just stupid, you can choose which is which.

Anonymous said...

9:02 - I vote Supervisor Morrow. I like Rocky - he's a really nice guy, but he doesn't have the experience that Morrow has. Rocky has a bit more legislative and budget experience, but remember, it was just rubber-stamping whatever Woerner wanted. Rocky's agenda was to get a rec center built - if he's supervisor, he'll run the town into the ground just like Woerner - only he'd be nicer about it. Morrow, on the other hand, has supervisory along with legislative and budget experience.

Supervisor Berardi maybe.

This next election that Quigley runs in will be a land slide win for him. The ONLY reason last election was not a land slide was because it was a democratic year. People don't understand government and just vote for what party they are in and not the actually person. I am a democrat but have voted for a few republicans in the past for the person and not for the party line.
