Blaber News Person of the Week : Sheriff Paul J. Van Blarcum

As I was riding down Broadway today, I noticed a few deputy sheriff's riding around on ATVs patrolling mid-town Kingston, I thought that it's very refreshing to see such a strong police presence. I then was waiting for the light by my cousin's bar (Brodway Joes's) yeah, the one with the statues on the building, as I waited at the light I noticed that one of the ATVs was being driven by none other than Sheriff Van Blarcum himself! That really says it all as to the type of guy Sheriff Van Blarcum is, and the type of involvement that he has for the community. How many former county Sheriff's were that involved and how many current Sheriff's outside of Ulster County actually go on regular patrols and are out riding around in 85 degree weather in mid town Kingston? Kudos to our Sheriff Paul Van Blarcum.

IF any of you are skeptical of government and rightly so, the Sheriff's department is a shining example of good government that works. Paul and his staff are to be commended for a not so easy job, well done. Doesn't matter that Paul is a democrat to me, he's doing a fine job. Sometimes we are lucky enough to find people who can transcend petty party politics and simply fulfill the requirements for the job. Period.

You can learn allot from Mr. VanBlarcum, Jeremy, as you sir, are a partisan hack of the most vile order.

8:39.. Your party, the GOP, is finished in the County and Town of Ulster. The "good", bad, old days when Don Savago could rule with an iron fist are "Gone with the Wind, like the Tara Plantation.

Ulster GOP is finished. Done. Whigged-out.

Conservatism isn't, however. Your party has much penance to do for having the gall to enact a 39% tax increase.

What you gonna do about it, "Mr. Chairman"?

---silence---

Thought So...I'll be voting DEMOCRATIC, again in November.

2:21 - it's PETE Savago, not Don Savago....you should at least pretend you know who and what you're talking about.

I meant Don As mafia Don.

eg. Don Corleone (ficticious)
eg. Don Vito (ficticious)
eg. Dapper Don (reputed)
eg. Q.D. (reputed)

Ok, so Don Peter, does that sound better?

And before you scoff, and pretend that your party is nothing more than simpleton puritans, there were plenty of local GOP'ers who plead guilty to a whole slew of illegal activities in the 80s. Highway bosses, State Senators, and those were the ones who were caught.

GOP=Corrupt

And it goes on today.

eg. Larry Craig R-Idaho (guilty)
eg. Tom Delay R-Texas (guilty)
eg. George Bush (charges pending)

The republican party both locally and nationally is a party by the few, for the few. Trickle down? No, we'll have none of that now.
They are corrupt.

Can you changes this pattern, oh bitter poster? Can you? How will you?

Anonymous...just to make you wonder....

I don't really care if you or I are anonymous...I'm a staunch Dem, and don't disagree with your assessment of the GOP at all...you did miss out on a few, however - Ney, Cunningham, Foley...so before you go calling anyone bitter and accusing them of not doing anything to clean up their party, it'd be interesting to know what you're doing to fight it. I hope that you're doing more than just going into the voting booth in November and pulling the lever (and posting on blogs). There are far too many people who complain but don't do anything about it. On the other hand, I volunteer on campaigns (ENDORSED Dems, of course), attend fundraisers, and contribute to their campaigns. As far as corruption goes, there's plenty on the local level, and hopefully with Jon Sennett (or even Holley Carnright) elected, that'll come to a halt. If Bradley gets in, it'll be more of the same in Ulster County. There are too many politicians (both republican and Dem) who want him elected so they can continue their corruption. I'm voting for Jon Sennett - hopefully there are a lot of people who are as smart as I am!

So I'm confused 11:54, you dislike the Sheriff, but endorse Jon Sennett?

Anonymous said...

What makes you think I dislike VanBlarcum? I didn't think that I insinuated that at all.

Anonymous said...

Ummm, ok, so what's your beef with my posts then? Seems like we agree??

Anonymous said...

I have no beef with your posts - your "Don" Savago appeared as if you didn't know who you were talking about - I totally support your position. I wrote a much longer post in repsonse to this yesterday, but apparently Jeremy didn't like what I said and so it never appeared. Never-the-less, I do agree with your assessment - I guess I'm not allowed to say more than that. No freedom of speech or press on this blog!

I've spoken with Blaber about his censorship and he denies doing it. There have been a few posts that haven't appeared and I've retyped to the best I can remember, and they have appeared. Perhaps the service flushes some posts?

Right now, Jeremy seems to be posting most notes, except for anything anti-Sennett ;)

Anonymous said...

...and nothing anti-Sottile, either...

Anonymous said...

He'll post anything anti-Bradley though.

Jeremy should post everything anti-Bradley - Bradley's spiteful, lacks integrity, has an awful personality, and should go back to the rock from whence he came. Bradley should back out of the race that he has no prayer of winning - by staying in, he's assuring his demise with the county Democratic Committee. He will go nowhere politically after this. Julian Schreibman had the class to withdraw (just as Frank Engel, Wendy Ricks and John Beisel did a couple of years ago) for the good of the party. It's obvious Bradley doesn't care about the Democratic party - unfortunately his supporters aren't smart enough to know that. Sennett and Schreibman were both told prior to the June convention to not primary should they lose. Parete and company were so sure that Bradley was going to win, they couldn't imagine telling him not to primary...and they still don't have the balls to tell him to withdraw. There is nothing good at all to say about VB Jr. - he's slime.
