BREAKING NEWS : CAHILL VOWS TO VOTE AGAINST 300 JOBS IN KINGSTON!!!!

Alderman Richard Cahill has vowed to vote against a proposal that Colony Liquor has brought fourth to expand their business, and bring 300 additional high paying jobs into the city of Kingston. Mr.Cahill's reasoning for voting against the expansion of this private sector business, you know one of the private sector businesses that Cahill always talks about it's despite need to grow in the area, is because it will bring in too much noise for residents in the area and that the diesel smell from the trucks will be too much. Are you kidding me? This guy wants to be the mayor of the city of Kingston and he is voting against a proposal that will bring in industry for the city of Kingston.

Cahill also stated on his television program that if he were mayor maybe he could stop it....so folks, vote for Cahill and you will be preventing a profitable business from expanding and providing 300 good paying jobs. Cahill reiterated on his show several times, that he has went out of his way to try to find some common ground on how to rectify the noise issue, so that he could vote in favor of this project, yet he skipped out on the public hearing that dealt with the noise issue among other concerns with this project, to go campaigning! This from a guy who attacked Anne Marie DiBella for missing a committee meeting to hold a fundraiser, yet he misses a public hearing that seriously impacts his ward? What a hypocrite!

BTW- Mayor James Sottile is firmly in support of this proposal, as is every other elected official in Kingston. Folks, in politics this is what we call a no-brainer....

Once again, Cahill is doing something the other Alderman fail to do -- represent his constituents. He is the Alderman of the 6th Ward and his constituents do not want this.

Also, as Cahill pointed out on his show, this is no different than Quick Chek, a proposal to expand the commercial into the residential with a negative effect against residents.

In fact, you hypocrite, if Cahill supported this measure, you and your Democrat buddies were ready to accuse Cahill of neglecting the poor people of his ward.

It is clear to me and many others that you are a Sottile shill. You have no objectivity at all. You reject Mr. Kitchen because he is "unprofessional". Yet, Sottile is much more unprofessional and you keep supporting him and making him your person of the week and so forth.

Jeremy, you need to make an immediate retraction. I did miss one of the meetings, but I was NOT out campaigning. My wife and I had made plans months before to go out of town. The meeting was scheduled at the last minute and I could not change the plans.

I have read every scrap of paper in the city's possession about this proposal and have spoken repeatedly with my constituents. I am well familiar with the proposal.

I take offense at your attempts to smear me with false accusations.

I disagree. Mr. Cahill IS NOT against these jobs. He is voting as the residents of his Ward, who are directly impacted by this business, want him to. The job of an Alderman, what we pay them to do. To serve the people, first.

Mr. Cahill was looking for compromise from the business that did not materialize. Funny how the City was going to bond for $30,000 to $60,000 to abate the noise of the train horns, yet seem not to care for the health and welfare of the residents in "affordable housing projects"? Mr. Cahll has shown that he will stand for those with the least as well as those with privelege and money. I am proud of his choice.

He is concerned with the children who will have their much needed sleep impacted by the noise, the danger of this river of truck traffic. He is concerned for the senior citizens and all who will be negatively impacted by the heavy pollution of diesel trucks.

History may show he was on the right side of this issue. The Mayor and the Common Council's primary responsibility is to protect the residents and property. They were so eager to prove they brought jobs to Kingston in an election year, not farsighted enough to insist on as much compromise from the business as possible.

We need the jobs, and we need to let ALL industry and commerce to know the health and welfare of our residents- regardless of their economic status comes first. If the Mayor and the Council stood up and showed the "passion" the Mayor has become nationally known for, real compromise would have been reached.

This is another example of discrimination against the poor, the working class and minorities by this Administration for political gain. This project would have all protections possible for the residents if placed in a more affluent neighborhood.

We will get the jobs. We will also bear the burden of increased health care from the pollution, increased classroom disruption from the stress and lack of sleep. We, the taxpayers, will pay for the results of this decision for years. Much that could be avoided if our elected officials looked past this election and did what was right.

What if Cahill had voted yes... wouldn’t you scream about his lack of concern for the people he represents? You always have plenty to say about what he does.... too bad you don't get your facts straight... I happen to know that he had a long-standing commitment the day the last-minute meeting was convened, and it was not campaign related.
I'm sure you'll be bringing your hypocritical ass down to city hall for a job when he's elected. Call him Little Dick; that's sure to win you points!

You were at the county fair handing out your fliers, just because you were with your wife does not mean you were not campaigning.

Little Dick Cahill, are these the same voters that was standing by the voters that didn't want that Gas Store on Albany Ave.I think those voters want this and the jobs that goes with it. So,YOU BETTER check your -hole Ward,- NOT JUST SOME THAT DON'T paid TAXES !

Who do I believe, Cahill, who is so ethical and clean, he squeaks, which I guess in the world we live, makes him a bad person? Or...you, who lies his fat ass off any chance he gets if it makes him or the candidate he supports look good. How far up Sottile's ass is your head? What office will you be in, sharing one with Kathy Thomas in another made-up job for his friends. You are a total, complete, asshole.

To 4:14,

Should Cahill give people less representation because they are poor and in need of assistance? Is not every man and woman created equal and entitled to equal representation under the law?

Hey Anonymous 4:14 (hey, that's my birthday), which renters (assuming that's what you mean by 'non taxpayers') do you know that TRULLY care about the neighborhood which they live in? Sure, there are good renters, but they have no FINANCIAL interests their neighborhood increases in value, actually, it;s the contrary. Rent goes DOWN when the hood goes down.

Little Dick, from what I heard you did miss the Laws and Rules meeting on Monday night and a vote was taken to re-zone the parcel for the Colony Liquor project. Mr. Walker took your place at the meeting and voted to rezone the parcel. Some team work.

I be out of work and could shure use some work at that propos'd gin-mill on Flatbush Ave. Why is Mr. Cahill against jobs for hard work'n folk like me who be down on their luck? We aint be all lawyers and such like him with fancy suits and ties. I wants to work, and the gin mill would bees a good job for me and my bros. Mayor Sottile supports bringing jobs to our city, but Cahill would rather see people like me out of work, leaving the city or just plain ol lyin in an unmarked grave in the potters field. Well, that aint happenin, no sir! Rise up, and keep Mayor Sottile if you wants to work.

"10:37 you are misinformed, as usual"

Untrue...I was at the Fair that night and met Dick Cahill Jr for the first time ever. I was not impressed. He's very much a squinty, twitchy, never look you in the eye, uncomfortable in his own skin, kind of guy.

I think Sottile is a big dopey, blowhard, but Cahill is pathetic.

To 3:09 a.m.,

Your post is extremely offensive. You write ina style reminiscent of Brer Rabbit and Uncle Remus. It's racist and offensive.

Anonymous said...

4:34, YOU are the racist for assuming that the writer was racist. I see nowhere in that note where the writer alludes to race. I think the person who is writing it is a blue-collar individual, a simple person who the Public Education System failed, who merely wants to work and support himself and his family. Not everyone practices perfect diction like you do, Mr. Anonymous know-it-all, but what you are doing is stirring the racist pot. Keep stirring it. Maybe Hal Turner will come back. Isn't that what you want? Call Rev. Sharpton and have him shut down Blaber's website for promoting racism, why don't you? Or maybe we should have the NAACP review all posts on this blog before they are made public. Talk about Free Speech! HA! YOU are the Bigot!!!!

Anonymous said...

to 4:34 -Do you actually believe the things you wrote or are you taking the opportunity to spout a lot of blather? The post to which you refer (10:05) is intentionally written to imply the author is a poor, uneducated, out-of-work black person. It also is clear that the author is a bigot looking to stir up racial issues. Need proof? The writer is well-educated, with decent grammar skills as evidenced by the sentence structure and punctuaion use. Some of the Uncle Remus vocabulary has apostrophes to note the omission of letters, and has been combined with hip-hop jargon. The deliberate misspelling of Remus words contrasts with the correct spelling of many more complex English words used in perfect context. Whoever wrote the Remus blog doesn’t ordinarily speak or write that way. You are a bigot yourself, looking to generate trouble where there is none. Others see through your thinly veiled hypocrisy……or…..maybe you are just the idiot you appear to be.

I see Dick Jr has not come back to try to refute the fact that he was at the UC Fair the night of the meeting. Good thing, he probably handed enough fliers out to people while he was there with his wife, that it would come back to bite him in the ass worse than it already has.

iam tired of people complaining on flatbush ave about the colony expanse. its a great thing to bring in high paying jobs. i worked there about 3 years ago and was paid 17.35 an hour with at least 15 hrs of overtime and great benefits. oh iam sorry your getting a free hand out and are complaining about the trucks. those guys are makeing an honest living working hard to support themselves. more then i can say for the people living in the complex. i drive by there and there just hanging out and blasting there music. some of those speakers are quite pricey. here comes cahill to vote against it. what a idiot. thank god the other members of the common council have a brain and see this as a great thing. kick cahill to the curb at least when he looses the mayors race he wont be involved in kingston politics. thank god for small favors!

What many people miss is that the supposed "300 jobs" are out of towners who will commute to work. And more than 50% of the workers NOW at Colony are out of towners. They are NOT city residents!

Those employees who drive for Colony do so outside the area too. This means that not even a local deli will reap the benefits of job creation.

Anonymous said...

THAT MAKES SENSE BECAUSE EVERYBODY IN KINGSTON IS ON WELFARE AND NOBODY WORKS AND THAT IS WHY THEY ALL WILL REELECT SOTTILE-NOBLE

Anonymous said...

Most of those jobs will be filled and are filled by people who are not Kingston residents.

Still Sottile will take credit for "economic success" as he did recently in the press, failing to mention the vasy majority of the 1500 ne jobs were outside of the City limits. He has successfully increased jobs in the town of Ulster. Is that his job?

Anonymous said...

you have to be nuts not to want these jobs to come to kingston. Kingston does not have a lot of high paying jobs and colony liquor is one that can supply some to the area. As for the residents that are complaining about the noise, maybe they can get one of these jobs instead of living off welfare. Roundout Gardens is filled with people that could use a good paying job. Instead of letting colony expand maybe Mr Cahill would like to build more low income housing in that area so the Kingston taxpayers can support more Welfare recipients moving up from New York City

Anonymous said...

Poeple in Kingston are to lazy to get off their butt and put an application in at colony liquior. Thats why ony 50% of the people live in kingston. 300 jobs is 300 jobs regardless if the workers live in kingston or not.

Anonymous said...

i think the people living in the birchwood or what ever those low income housing complexes are should help build the new colony plant. they have food stamps medicare in case they get hurt and a place to sleep.let them feel how it is to put a hard days work in and maybe they wont be up in the middle of the night. they be so tired theyll sleep like babies!!!!!!
