Council's 90 Day Review

Ward 1- As far as I am concerned the seat is vacant. Their elected representitive is missing in action.
Overall Rating = F

Ward 2 Alderwoman Ringwood - Jennifer has done a tremedous job fighting for the quality life issues of the 2nd Ward and beyond. Ringwood's latest iniciative to ban smoking on City Property is right on target. Also her willingness to comprimise and work with members across the aisle is refreshing. I am very sorry to see her leave.

Overall Rating = A

Ward 3 Alderman Landi- Alderman Landi has been pretty quite his first few months but I am impressed with what I have observed thus far. I do disagree with his vote against transart. Like him or hate him he knows his stuff and is an effective Alderman

Overall Rating = B

Ward 4 Alderwoman Whitlock - The clouds have been lifted in the trobled fouth ward and replaced with sunshine and an active Alderwoman that cares about the issues that matter in the ward and puts in the time to make sure they are addressed. The 4th ward could not ask for a better representitve than that of Alderwoman Whitlock

Overall Rating = A

Ward 5 Alderwoman DiBella -
As hard as it admit this, Anne Marie is an effective lawmaker. In large part to Anne Marie's leadership, the county no longer houses Kingston's homeless at the King's Inn like animals. Anne Marie has also supported important initiatives such as the smoking ban. DiBella's vote in favor of granting Trans Art's extension with the City t speaks volumes. Even though she was against the transfer originally, her vote shows the ability to see the big picture in restoring a city eye sore.

Overall Rating = A

Ward 6 Alderman Polacco - Ron has had an impressive first start. He clearly is head and shoulders above his Republican colleague. Polacco who is in his first term, is not having any trouble adjusting to the job and seems to know what he is doing. I do however disagree with his votes not to fund the police and fire department budgets for 2008.

Overall Rating = B

Ward 7- Majority Leader Reynolds - Bill is far beyond his office and is being held back as Kingston's Seventh Ward Alderman. Don't get me wrong, there is no one better to represent the Ward but our County and State could use him more.

Overall Rating= A+

Ward8 Alderman Senor - Like Landi, Senor knows the job and has been doing it long enough to know when to pick and choose his battles. Why he would throw himself out to the wolves by picking a fight with CSEA over personal cell phone use is beyond me. The City has more important issues to deal with.

Overall Rating= A

Ward 9 Alderman Madsen - I saw Alderman Madsen raking leaves on city owned property the other day, the next day he was picking up trash. Madsen continues to tirelessly work by example by taking pride in his ward and community. I also like the fact that Madsen has started a program on kpa tv and a blog to better interact with residents of the ninth ward.

Overall Rating = A

well let see if you can see the truth..
Still no new businesses with any real potential
Low income and affordadable housing and families are taking over
Taxes are out of control
The kirkland is empty
and they are wasting time on a bs unenforceable smoking ban and ready to piss away another million on a dump of a building in midtown, with no foreseeable plan for it once its acquired.
Please tell me if you see any of this or if Im the blind man!

Let me guess. I am going to really go out on a limb here. All the Democrats are doing great, and the Republicans, they need a lot of improvement. You're as predictable as the sun coming up in the morning.

I'd go with Madsen, Senor, Polacco, and Teetsel for the honor roll. The rest fall to average or a few are off even justfying their position in the group.
If you do make it on the school board, however, the students would love your grading process.

I don't agree with the A+ you gave Mr. Renyolds. He was the brainchild behind the biased, hateful and ruthless blog called "The Kingst'onion" that existed until quite recently. For a public offical to hide behind an a secret identity and spew venom, lies and negativity is childish, devisive and wrong.

An "A" for Cruella? She's not responsible for the closing of King's Inn; the Building Department is. And shame on them for allowing it, by failure to inspect, to deteriorate into such a deplorable condition that it's uninhabitable. Cruella was responsible for the landlord registration law; the Building Department is a sham. AnnMarie works with the homeless - wasn't she ever at the King's Inn? Why didn't she report to the Building Department sooner? If it wasn't zoned for a homeless shelter, why didn't the city do something before this? Don't give AnnMarie credit where credit isn't due. Kudos to Polacco and Madsen for not being so hasty in spending a million dollars to take the King's Inn by eminent domain.

How can everyone being doing so well when I can't think of one single substative accomplishment? Smoking in parks? Getting ready to open the $5 million Kirkland? Hiring Arold to tear down the parking garage without having any plan in place once it is down?

How about doing something about the crime rate? What about the reval and how it is going to impact our citizens, especially those on fixed incomes? Has anyone come up with an economic development plan, let alone taking steps to implement it?

As soon as Polacco disagrees with something significant, his grade will drop dramatically.

Also, your review of Al Teetsel is totally unfair. There is personal animosity between the two of you. I don't think you can be objective.

At least ALL of the Democrats Work
for a living and pay rent or do
a mortgage and do not hop from
job to job beacuse they CAN'T KEEP ONE! Unlike one of the Republican's

Anonymous said...

How can you give any of these people anything higher than a C given the state of affairs in the City of Kingston. Are you blind?

Anonymous said...

9:35 - what I find scarier than not having any plans for the parking garage once it is torn down, is that Sottile and the Council (including Tom Hoffy) are going to allow Steve Aaron - who still owes the city $50,000 - to develop it and rip us off even more.

I have to agree with many here. How can you give these clowns As and Bs, when the city overall is no more than a C+. God, this city can do nothing right. If the smoking ban is the only thing you can point to as a success, you are really dilusional Jeremy. I'm not sure how you expect to get elected to the School Board when you cannot grasp the problems around you.

And worse, I'd like to see you defend some of your comments. I have never seen you respond to a post, defending your smoking ban support.

F's for everyone except polocco, and madness.

Why cant Polacco keep a job? Does he still live at home? How old is he?

Anonymous said...

to give your grading system some merit it would help to understand what objectives you had in the system before hand.

It would seem to me that you are looking to be nice-nice with the council. Why? its beyond me.

Many of these comments [posted here before me] are right on the nose.

With the negatives that you suggest with some, like Senor and DiBella, do not deserve an A.

If you get elected to the School Board make sure that your grading system here is not used for the district. Its poor.

They have been in office for 90 days.. there is not much time for them to mess up. I stand by my ratings.

Well Mr. Jeremy,

After 90 Days a lot of people get
'Pink Slips'. It is clear to me
That the two Republicans are not up to the job. Polacco are not fooling anyone with his BS. He cant
hold a job. And he is Rich Cahill's
'Charlie McCarthy'. He does what he is told and you know it.

Teetsel is smarter then Polacco
Who should be working with his daddy in the cement plant.

This is for Polacco.

Ward 4 would get an A if Clint Brown was still the Alderman.

WARD4BLOODZ BLOOD-UP

Anonymous said...

Well No Mr.'Blood'

Alderwoman Shirley and Former
Alderman Brown get up every morning
and go TO WORK...... And the last time I checked they are homeowners.

Now the criteria on whether they do a good job as alderpersons is whether they keep down ANOTHER job? And folks wonder why the city of Kingston has so many intellectual REEETARDS in it such that it can hardly function!!
If Shelly Z still held Ward 1, Jeremy Blaber would give him an A, even though he spent more time on his band of brothers and maybe his wedding band than anything else. Please. The good thing is if he is talking and you tell him to watch out a bomb is going off next to him he will say "oh okay", and go right on talking. So naturally it isn't all bad there...
Ringwood's smoking ban is good;however, her legacy is the silliest law(graffiti) on the books in the nation and perhaps the entire friggin' WORLD. Good riddance Jen, but the irony is that stupid little Kingston WILL suffer when Jen is gone...(says wayyyyyyyy more about KINGSTON than Jen!)
Boots make the entire council no better than a C. Since the city continues to deteriorate at a rapid pace, you have the same old coverup routines going on with the police department also(nice booth for P.R. at the Lions' Club but that's about it--didn't show the clowns they have, guess they decided to put the credible ones behind the booth),the reval a bungle on many levels, nothing really new under the sun coming down the pike, and people haggling over whether the put the King's Inn into eminent domain or take it for taxes and no idea whether AVR Landing will happen or simply be another proposal that bites the dust and the reality is the present looks bleak and the future even bleaker because there is still too much DENIAL in this city. DENIAL is NOT a river in EGYPT--it sounds more like the Hudson River north of Esopus.
And let's see...well if we look at Clark R v. Jen and that legacy, and then we analogize that with the Matt R v Shirley Whitlock scenario, we may be able to see a future that is less bright than it could have been in terms of representation of that ward. It may be too early to tell, but let's look at what has already occurred in that ward:the police station was pulled from Broadway because the owner of the building did something wrong on his taxes. All of a sudden KPD and the big boys above it got cold feet such that they want us to believe they are all sooooo very pure and so pure that they cannot do such a thing. Right. I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell any comers too. Hah!! The powers that be arranged Shirley as a bone to throw blacks since blacks have no jobs here and Lenny wasn't going to do anything last year but drop through the floor.
Oh, and then there are the reeeetarrrrds who keep repeating a lie like Steve Aaron owes the city 50 grand. Nope!! Sorry!! Reread the paper!!! That was IF his Birchwood Village was to be taken over or managed by Kingston Housing Authority. He decided, rightfully in my judgment because I know how KHA operates and they are scum bums, not to do that and to manage the place with his own people. His management there makes it peaceful and peacable to live there--and what's more, the maintenance folks there actually work most of the time. More power to him. As for anything else with him...look...that's another story but hey, there is no one in this world looking to play for play money after age 10, nor should anyone be expected to.

What is your criteria for these grades? that they showed up for a Common council meeting? I have attended several Common council meetings and several committee meetings Whitlock hasn't uttered a single word on anything and the dismal way the midtown area is being unrepersented what has she changed? please share all that sunshine and give us your words of wisdom Jeremy..what has changed in the 4th ward since Shirley took office? lets be real she was picked and pushed as Sottiles "yes girl" and the black pawn for this administration. I give her a c average because she's managed to at least show up to a few meetings but has not purposed a single change or even had a different opinion from the rest of Sottiles croonies. which is very sad for me because I voted for her and I thought she would stand up for herself and her Ward, I guess Ryan was right. If this keeps up I know who I will vote for in two years and it won't be Whitlock.

If Steve Aaron doesn't owe the city anything, then what does the city get for relinquishing that property to him? Everyone else in the city pays property taxes, and he promised the $50K (it originally was $16K, but thankfully John Martino told him to shit in a hat) and that's when they settled. He's not paying PILOT or taxes...and the police are there constantly - that housing complex is a drain on city services...pay up, Steve!

Jeremy wern't you the one who coined the phrase cruella? are you kissin up because you may have to work with her husband if elected to the school board? and which party has been in charge of the City of Kingston for a number of years now....right the Democrats and look at the mess this City is in maybe you need to regrade? looks like almost everybody disagrees with your evalucation of the last 90 days and if this keeps up we may see a big change in this Cities goverment in two years imanage Sottile goverening over an all Republican Council oh well guess he can ask his son who works for the republicans in Albany how to get along!!. sounds like Sottiles worst nightmare to me.

Jeremy Blaber said...

I will work with anyone when I am elected to the board. Mr. DiBella has nothing to do with my comments about Anne Marie. To be honest, I've met the guy like twice.

Anonymous said...

I challenge you to find people in Ward 9 who think Madsen deserves an 'A'.

Anonymous said...

WELL JEREMY BLABER I SEE YOU STILL REFUSE TO POST ANY OF MY COMMENTS.
