Governor Paterson Admits to Previous Drug Use

Governor David Paterson admitted to using drugs in his early twenties, today on Inside City Hall with Dominic Carter.

Dominic Carter: You have?

David Paterson: Yes

Dominic Carter: Marijuana?

David Paterson: Yes

Dominic Carter: Cocaine?

David Paterson: Yes

Dominic Carter: You used cocaine governor?

David Paterson: I'd say I was 22 or 23, I tried it a couple of times, yes.

Dominic Carter: When is the last time that -- is that the only time you've tried cocaine, governor?

David Paterson: Yeah, around that time, a couple of times and marijuana, probably, when I was about 20. I don't think I've touched marijuana since the late 70s.

On one hand I would begin to think that Gov. Paterson is being used - i.e., confessions of infidelity - confessions of prior (going back over a decade) drug use - hanging out openly with the very controversial Rev. Sharpton --- as someone's "patsy..."

But then again, if these are the kind of issues that everyone cares about so much (VERSUS violating the "U.S. Constitution" and "Bill of Rights; VERSUS violating international treaties; VERSUS dragging the country into an unjust war where thousands (with thousands and thousands of more abroad)have been killed ; VERSUS bankrupting our country; VERSUS bankrupting the American citizen] --- that lead to the IMPEACHMENT of --- and/or criminal charges being launched --- against our political representatives...

Then I guess we are right on track...

PATHETIC.

This is the man Spitzer CHOSE as a running mate? What was going through Spitzer's mind? Was he drunk on call girls when he decided on Paterson?

The more we peel this onion known as Sptizer, the stinkier it gets.

OT, Spitzer had better NOT look for a plea bargin. He believes it to be immoral.

Come on now, is there anyone out there who hasn't experimented with drugs or alcohol? Alcohol, which is a depressant drug, is no different than any other of the controlled substances. So are cigarettes, a highly addictive nicotine stimulant drug, absorbed by the respiratory system, used to calm fazed nerves.

Would it be any different if the new governor stated to the media, "I got drunk several times and smoked cigarettes to counter the depressant effect of the alcohol".Where would all the hoopla come from then?

6:25, good point.

beentheredonethat, according to the nonsense logic of some posters during the Spitzer fiasco, "but it's illegallllllllllllll." The majority was clamoring to have Spitzer ousted -- I hope they're happy with the outcome of their moralistic crusade. Funny how it's gotten very quiet very quickly. Ah, yes, hindsight.

I bet if he admitted he were a tabacco smoker, that would damage his image more than his cocaine use.

There's plenty more to come out of Paterson. Just wait. We won't dump it all at once, the majority of you wouldn't be able to process it.
