Rich Cahill : At Long Last, Have You Left No Sense Of Decency?
Rich Cahill's hatred for Sottile is completely out of control, he will stop at nothing to attack and make the Sottile administration look bad, including trying to capitalize on the misfortune of others. It is utterly disgusting.
Mr. Cahill writes on his blog details and personal attacks on Steve Gorsline and Tim Williams made by a money hungry lawyer in a federal lawsuit filled yesterday.
Now, let me say for full disclosure, I am friends with Steve Gorsline and Tim Williams and absolutely stand behind them. They also have more credibility in their fingers than Alderman Cahill has in his entire body.
With that being said, the lawsuit was filed and it will be played out in court, the Freeman has reported on the subject as a news story and that's appropriate. I'm confident that Mr. Williams and Mr. Gorline will be vindicated.
What's not appropriate is what Mr. Cahill has done. Cahill has used this story for his own political gain and dragged the names of Mr. Gorsline, Mr. Williams and others through the mud for the sole purpose of attacking Mayor Sottile.
These men have families, Mr. Cahill and what you are doing is despicable. Just as Joesph Welch said to McCarthy during the The Army-McCarthy Hearings of 1954, I ask Mr. Cahill:
"Have you no sense of decency, sir? At long last, have you left no sense of decency?"
The answer is very clear, Mr. Cahill does not.

Thanks for reminding us, Jeremy, what a great picture and moving quote from our nations recent history.
IT gives me chills to watch this on film, a real couragious moment that with a single phrase put the brakes on a vicious witch hunt that ruined the lives of many good Americans in the name of a shallow self serving patriotism. Thanks again...smitty
I may be wrong, but wasn't Ric h "one term" Cahill serving as an Alderman while this was happening?
Why didn't he go public then? You can't tell me he didn't know what he posted on his blog today. Everyone knew! He is fading away without his little tv show. People will forget him soon. You should help them and stop mentioning him at all!
Smitty,
Just like when you let 'producers'
have live therapy sessions on KPA?
When the 'producers' make false
statements regarding people within our community?
sottile admenistration has been marred by controversy. freeman reports preferential treatment for female staffer romantically involved with dpw boss. serious stuff just to be blamed on money hungry lawyer. a president even lied about a similar siduation.
Blaber, ignore him. You only make him feel good when he sees he got to you.
Mr. Cahill has simply reported the same information the Freeman is reporting and then offered his opinions on that information. He has the same right to do so as you do to offer yours, Mr. Blaber.
Moreover, the question is not whether or not to believe Mr. Cahill. So far as I know, he has never claimed to witness these acts and therefore the question is not his credibility versus that of the persons named as defendants in the lawsuit.
The issue at hand is whether one believes the ladies alleging that they have experienced discrimination on the job as well as having been harrassed. Considering the fact that the City, at Mayor Sottile's behest and as a result of these ladies' allegations, is instituting tougher anti-discriminiation policies coupled with training on the subject, SOMEONE must suspect that there must be some basis to the claims.
Given that likelihood, Mr. Cahill's decision to form an opinion which sides with the Plaintiffs has as much legitimacy as your decision to side with the Defendants.
As I said in a previous comment, your general behavior on your blog indicates that you are likely a gentleman. It might behoove you to refrain from attacking those who have contrary opinions and limit yourself to defending those with whom you side using the facts.
What you don't know or remember about the 1954 McCarthy Senate Hearings was that the majority of Americans disapproved his actions. "Tail gunner Joe" as he was known was shunned not only by his own Republican Party but President Eisenhower as well.
tobeentheredonethat- Saldy he wasnt shunned until he started to go over the line. According to Joe, the school houses were filled with Communist teachers and our American way of life was being aggressively taken over by these Red Menaces living in cells that were ready to overthrow the government. Hollywood was on trial and many of the top actors, producers, writers were blacklisted unfairly. Some committed suicide. Lives were overturned and the Senator and his hearings continued. The good news is that May 1 became Loyalty Day and many government employees marched in parades as they showed their Loyalty to America. This was done to balance the May Day parades in Moscow. It was not until the former war hero crossed the line and attacked Eisenhower as a Communist that the country really became alarmed. Until then it was Joe against all, with his staff continuing to attack all that was in its way. Yes, there were teachers who were Communists. Were they trying to overthrow the government. I think not. They were intelligent, articulate college grads who fought against the enemies of WWII. They returned and were not willing to relinquish their previous thoughts about a liberal and better world. They influenced the country and were able to return to their jobs by the 1960's. Sorry to be so long winded, but the primary point is that America was not screaming for Joe to stop his attacks on those that he considered were against the "American Way".

YES, alot of this happened when Cahill was an Alderman and running to be our chief executive. He did nothing to stop it!
To anonymous 310: I did not publish your comments not because I don't have the guts, I will not publish rumors about Sottile, Cahill or anyone else.
Listen, I could care less what Mr.Cahill choices to do that to me and others, we are better than that.
If you have a comment to express please do so in an appropriate manner. otherwise, the comments are not welcome.
Sorry

They're not rumors, Jeremy, they're facts. And yes, you you don't have the guts or the brains for that matter. You're a puppet, and until you learn that, you're also an asshole.
Hey Jeremy,
I put a poll up over on my site about you - about R. Cahill - and about a bunch of other things... (some of which are pretty important!) Check it out if you get a chance!

N.S.
I first learned of the matter in March of this year. For those (such as you) who accuse me of using this scandal for political reasons, don't you think I would have made the matter public during the campaign if I knew about it? Try to be consistent.

said: I really have no opinion on any of the things I write about or respond to. I'm pretty much a weasel and a perpetual cynic and get most of my kicks from sitting on the sideline and critiqing and condemning everyone and everything. I'm not ashamed to say anything except who I am.
I found this in my mail box and it was signed "ANONYMOUS"...smitty
I believe Rich Cahill took an activist stance on this one - and I applaud that irregardless of whether he had political motives or not.
After all, Jeremy, most of you folks have political motives for what you do...
No?
And there is no shame in that...
unless one stoops to dirty dealings along the way, which I would not accuse (I've seen no evidence of this) either you or Mr. Cahill of doing.
The alleged victims in this case definitely needed an advocate - and I'm glad they found one in Mr. Cahill.
I'm also glad that the whole topic of discrimination - whether it be of a sexual nature - or of some other sort - is being brought out of the closets (at least some of them) in this community.
As far as the whole McCarthy era thing... folks might want to read "The Merchants of Fear" by C. Catherwood and J. DiVanna (Lyons Press; 2008) - because we apparently haven't evolved that much...
It all depends upon who is in power (towards the tippity-top - and how corrupt ('tis an opinion) THEY are.
Peace,

Nice Jeremy - you hide comments that may be contradictory to you own - you should be confident that the facts speak for themselves and in our free society - that it is agreed that we can disagree and still respect one another.
